I was able to find my cj7 from high school. It still had the wheels I had put on it and it only had 25k miles put on it in 21yrs. I found my old title and a very long story later I was driving to Montana from Washington st. It was in pretty good shape straight and no rust. After I bought it back I decided to restore it to its original look , but also keeping the 4” lift and 33s on it. Spent some money on restoring the interior to stalk, and also I welded all the holes from the rocker guard diamond plate kit I took off it. Also restored all the hinges to factory, then I moved the front bumper about 3 and a half inches forward. The bumpers are after market , but they are after market look from the 80s , found a perfect no rust pair of lever handle full hard doors and also and 83 hardtop in great shape. I have been taking my time and doing things that don’t make it a Jeep second and after market first . I want everything thing I do to it to enhance that old cj7 seven look , not take away from it. The paint is a dark honey color. And I am getting it ready to paint it very soon. Will also be putting on the original replicate renegade decals on it . I am currently finishing up putting the Yj leaf spring conversion on it for a overall better and safer ride if it is possible to say that. Bedside going through almost every nut and bolt . I will have to admit . My purpose for my Jeep has changed . Instead of pounding on it like I did when I was younger. I now want to use it to go on long drives to hunting spots and also drive it at anytime of the year. But I do enjoy looks and compliments I get driving it . That being said , I am swapping out the power train for a 350, and up grading the tranny to go with it .I want the extra power . I will be driving to Alaska and back and I will also be driving and doing lots of things with it to help raise money for young men going the colon cancer. I am just ready to do it the way I have always wanted to. I have loved my 258 And always will. But it just doesn’t do the job I need it to do anymore. I will be keeping it and rebuilding it on down time. Just because I may use it in another cj7 in the future.
I really like your videos, keep up the great work and thanks for letting me tell part of my story about my old cj7 that will be brand new again soon. Thanks to all of you for listening.
Jason from Snohomish Washington. Ps you have a really nice looking cj7

I like your videos. I have a jeep cj 258 and love it. I have the same carb and I hated it until I put sync link to make the engine wake up. I did over 450 miles the other day and averaged 17.2-17.8mpg. Why are you swapping perfectly good engine. Its like ripping its heart out

Hey John. I understand what you are saying and appreciate it. That said I’ve always wanted a v8 in my cj. It’s a popular swap and I can’t wait. Thanks for the comments!! Jeeps are so customizable and I love the variety in what people like for their jeeps.

John Pavich, why did you get rid of your dial up internet that worked fine for high speed internet? Pretty sure you aren’t watching CZcams vids on a dial up router. 140HP dial up or 400HP high speed internet? I know which one I am choosing.

Thank you Matt for a better explanation than I can give.

I wasn't trying to criticize but understand. I wasnt talking about what is better in power. My opinion is that I really enjoy my almost original jeep the way it is. There is something that I cant describe a feeling maybe when I drive my jeep. It feels almost alive. The more parts I change the more I am taking away from what my cj7 is. You would understand if you witnessed my jeep just heal itself. My Toyota thundra cannot do that

I understand what you’re saying John! I appreciate the stock CJ folks out there. My Jeep has been stock since I’ve owned it and I’m excited to make this upgrade. Thanks for the good conversation.
