Props for mentioning the wobble on the forehand! I see so many reviews when they throw a similar forehand to yours, and they talk about "hyzer flips with the forehand"😂🤦 maybe just a pet peewe of mine lol, great review as always!
Yeah I don't claim to have a good forehand... But I'm working on it! 😂
People often say you should learn to eliminate the wobble with understable mids and putters. BUT I'm here ti tell you otherwise. Just try BOARD FLAT DISCS, no matter the stability. Helped me out A LOT to find discs like Latitude 64 Frost line XXX and Prodiscus Ultrium Razeri. Grippy plastics, flat discs, just almost automatically release cleaner on a forehand shot. I highly recommend this and I think those molds are seriously underrated, but I'm not sponsored by either of those brands nor do I sell discs so you can basically use any flat, grippy and shallow discs to start eliminating the wobble 🧐. At least that worked wonders for me.
Great content bro!! Love seeing the Discmania stuff 💪🏼
Thank you! Discmania has been killing it lately!
I am so excited I lost my beat in PD a week or so ago and I have been throwing my s line pd trying to get it to this spot!
Dope, you mentioned the CD1. I was going to ask how it would complement a dynasty(CD2), and that gave me my answer.
Thanks for the look Apollo! 💪
🙌🙌
very few discs with actual thunderbird numbers, looking forward to trying these out
Hope it comes in orange. Good review
These things feel soooooo smooth! I find it to be very close to my Honor (which I love). These are maybe a touch straighter with a tiny bit less finish. You can get these things on frozen ropes for 90% of the flight! I think the biggest difference between this and the honor is how they will beat in due to the honors pronounced nose-bead.
You just made me want to buy another disc! Lol 😂
Try an RPM Discs Tara Iti
10/5/0/2
It’s great
Just like this Vanguard you’re describing
Can you compare this to a Lat64 Striker as it looks pretty similar?
Maybe ill have this disc replace my beat in pd. Have an old S line pd that has a slight turn to it before it comes back
This slot has taken over the Firebird slot in my bag. I throw an Honor, rather than one of these-they're extremely similar, though-but it has the flexibility at my arm speed to give a little more distance with the reliable fade or to be an absolute meathook on some hyzer. It's nice having two good options in one disc.
With how bad my forehand is and how windy it gets in Kansas... I can't live without a Firebird type disc in the bag 😂
@ApolloDiscGolf Fair! My forehand is basically non-existent outside 100ft and I play mostly in the woods, so that's definitely a factor for me. [I do also have an Orbit Glory for some backup beef.]
Dude! You missed it. Ricky Wysocki was at your course (Shawnee) just the other day (7/29). Great dude
Dang! That's sick! I didn't know he was in town
@@ApolloDiscGolf I didn’t know either. Was their with my kids pulling out and there he was getting out ready to play. He was nice enough for a picture. I was just shocked to see him randomly
How does this compare to the Latitude 64 Honor? Looks like it's the same as the Royal Line plastic and numbers are similar with the Honor showing as just a tick more fade.
I would say the Honor is closer to the overstable Thunderbird I compared it to in this video! I haven't had too much time with the Honor though! I should have picked one up for this video!
I use the infinite Roman (old pd mold) and it’s one of my farthest flyers for my arm speed (≈370) it won’t push as far as something flipper but it’s more consistent
I never really got the good distance out of it for me... It just took too much effort! The Thunderbirds and Teebirds always did the trick for me and wasn't as hard for me to throw!
Those I blend’s have a lot of glide and beat in to usable quick enough
@@justwondering1926 they’re great. Reliable and feel great. Bonus is the low price.
@@ApolloDiscGolf I'd like to see you compare the roman to the new pd
I did compare them in the original PD review when they released the mold in their new process... But that was the old C-Line vs the new C-Line! I haven't tried it in I-Blend!
For someone who throws around 340 feet. Would the vanguard act like a longer instinct?
I wouldn't say it would be longer at that arm speed... It might give you more of a finish over your instinct? But they would be pretty similar imo
As far as stability least to most:
Nordic Phenom 1
Instinct
Lone Howl 3
Vanguard
Metal Flake FD3 (euro open 2022)
C Line PD
From the reviews I've seen maybe my Vanguard is a unicorn in stability as it doesn't push nearly as straight as others are suggesting. It's a 171g light blue.
Still very good for 270-320ft spike hyzers. Also glides more than the PD.
Yeah you must have gotten an overstable one! I wouldn't put any of the PD's ahead of the Vanguard I threw in this video!
@@ApolloDiscGolf well now I need another one 🤣
My bag is set but there is something about this disc that is making me curious.
It's pretty nice!
Its… an Old beat in S-Line PD
Or a CD3?
Yeah, a perfectly beat in S-Line PD with more glide! I have never tried a CD3... So can't say on that one!
Is it just a L64's Royal Honor?
I would say the Honor is closer to the Thunderbird in comparison! So a touch more overstable than the Vanguard, but not as beefy as a PD! And I don't think the Honor is as rounded off on the edges as this is... But I haven't had too much time with the Honor either!
Seems to almost throw like a fresh valkyrie
I've always thought Valkyrie's were more understable than this! I would compare it closer to a standard Thunderbird!
@@ApolloDiscGolf I think in my mind, I'm purely thinking about fresh/new valks. Seasoned ones for sure are not the same. I just don't personally like the amount of work it takes to get a valk to fly "right"
A champ thunderbird is pretty close, at least the ones I had from 2-3 years ago. The newer runs I've gotten ahold of seem to like to turn a little out of the box.
The Vanguard seems to fly like my Vulture does
Oh that would be a good comparison! But you can find pretty overstable Vultures I think, right? But I think the average Vulture would be very similar, yes!
@@ApolloDiscGolf To be honest, I can't really tell as I haven't owned more than 1 Vulture. Also it was similar looking to the Vanguard's flight but it took me 2 weeks and it was different xD
Also now that I played a round after a week, I can confirm that my Vulture is not as stable as the Vanguard, but my explorer had a similar flight
@@ApolloDiscGolf For me Vultures are the closest disc to a Thunderbird out there. So I was thinking the Vanguard is Thunderbird'esque...
Anyone heard of a thunderbird??
I did compare it to the Thunderbird! It's a touch straighter though! At least compared to my Thunderbird which is a little overstable for Thunderbirds.
fd1 is kinda slower pd but not as beefy
Yeah! The C-Line ones are pretty beefy though! It's pretty dang close to the PD!
@@ApolloDiscGolf i feel its More close to s-line than c line pd. Atleast My c line pd is way More beefy than My c line fd1
Yeah the C-Line stuff can get BEEFY!
@@ApolloDiscGolf yes for sure it is but it is still very much throwable beef
No yucky anhyzer top - Yay!
I keep forgetting about talking about the Anhyzer top! Yeah, this one has a more normal top on it!
This seems really similar to the streamline lift
I haven't tried that one out... I may have to pick one up!
