I can't imagine having a shop and not changing discs constantly.
I throw a ton of new stuff for videos! But yeah.. revert back to this bag for leagues, competitive events and such.
Sure you can
@@ApolloDiscGolf yeah, I'm only a few years in, so I wanna try everything on the market lol. You already get to do that. Gotta love it!
Yeah I definitely had that time! My first 3-4 years I was just trying and throwing everything! Then I always went back to these molds and then eventually just stuck with them and didn't really get or try any more discs other than these molds... Then I started a store/youtube channel 😂
Gotta respect the classics Zone, Buzzz, Teebird, Firebird, Wraith. Can’t beat tried and true.
those bookmark stamp estar teebirds are fire. Good style points for that one
Dude those Teebirds are absolute money! I only have two of them... But they are both beat in to perfection!
its really nice to see a disc golf channel that i can actually compare my arm speed to... i love the content of the pros... but this is so much more refreshing to see down a down to earth player give his honest review of all these discs and throws an accurate flight path that actually matches my game play ... support this brother and subscirbe so more players can see his content
This'll be fun! Im excited to see what you build!
A month ago I created a whole new bag just for the fun of it. May not play quite as good but fun to throw different discs.
Great video! It was fun to see you out there before your round and I had no idea you had such an old school bag. Very cool to see discs from before I played
Yeah it was fun chatting!
Very cool that you’ve bagged those discs for so long! Looking forward to your next vids
My guess is the Lunas and tee birds stay. I know I try different putters all the time and always go back to what’s comfortable.
Love this candid look into your thrower collection! Says a lot that you have access to so many new discs, but still elect to throw the old favorites. Well done sir. Another great video.
Thank you!
Gotta be your red roc, and probably a couple teebirds staying, but everything else in your bag seems like a very competitive slot and there's room to learn new things and improve your game overall through that! There's tons of good AM distance drivers (well documented on your channel), and lots of exciting putters and distance drivers to choose from too!
Love the simplicity of the bag and love the wraith too!
The Wraith is SO GOOD!!!
Well-done. I really like how you went into the backstory for each mold and took the time to explain. TBH I like and respect how you only keep it to a few molds. I am the opposite, where I find a mold that will fly exactly like the shot I want brand-new out of the box. I do think that keeping some extra molds for gaps, like your Jokeri is very helpful. Maybe put a forehand specific distance driver that you can really love and trust.
Honestly the Wraiths make for amazing forehand drivers!
ooohhh, if you want some FAF firebird off your hands I might know a guy who's coming to town 👀👀👀
But seriously, this is a super cool vid to hear about the old school discs!
👀👀👀
I mean I also have a box of like 20 different Destroyer's of varying stabilities that are collecting dust in my storage room 😂
Excited to see where your bag goes. I respect the idea of mold minimalism but my head does not compute it. My bag is filled with different molds for each shot. I enjoy the feeling of a different mold for a different shot.
I just like keeping things simple! The more simple, the less thinking on the teepad! Less choices and more executing! I don't have to think too much about what disc is right for the hole
Hey Love the Content! That is a solid bag. I throw alot of the same molds. A slot i think you should experiment with is 9 speed discs other than firebird. what do you throw between teebird and wraith? Since your bag consists of staples, you will have alot of options for discs that are similar to what you already throw. i look forward to the coming videos!
I use to have 9 speeds in my bag... But I never really thought it gave me much more than my Teebirds... I just don't throw far enough for those to make a huge difference or for there to be that big of a gap between my Teebirds and Wraiths! Like I dabbled with Thunderbirds for a bit.. but really kept going back to just my Teebirds!
My build a bag philosophy is every disc should be as easily replaceable as possible (financially and availability). Less heart break for a loss, and having duplicates for field work is nice. You lose a disc during a tournament round or its not there when you get to the course? Go grab the backup out of the trunk. Any mold minimalization should be more about the different stability from plastics out the box and inspecting parting line heights and wing shapes in person than beating a disc in for years.
Yeah, that’s also part of my reasoning for switching things up that I will hit on a bit in Wednesdays video!
I’ve also been changing my thought process based on availability… also on consistency of the mold itself! But, cycling has its appeal too.
I think you’ll keep putt & approach disc the same but swap mids and drivers out!
@@dannyrichards1705 mold inconsistency is good if you want mold minimalization though. Kinda need to shop in person for those though.
Keep both bags (old and new) and do a once a month competition between both bags and see over the year which one does better.
Now that sounds fun!!! 👀
@@ApolloDiscGolf I'm curious to see the evolution of the bags. I bet that initially the old bag will beat any new bag, but, with time, you will find interesting discs that might do something different or better than what the old bag can do and eventually I foresee that the old bag will win the overall event but will be updated with a few new stuff.
The other reason I would love to see this battle between old and new is that I think too much hype is made about the new stuff. The old classics are solid and there is no need to replace them.
I was watching this thinking "dang this is the coolest bag ever. This guy has it absolutely dialed. This is what I want my bag to look like someday." And then you said you're ditching it all and I got so confused😂
Lol! Yeah, it's really only because I have a channel! Thought it would be fun to change things up! If I didn't have a channel I would probably just be sticking with this bag... But I think it would be more fun to maybe do something like this every year and change up the bag with new stuff!
that yellow destroyer looks nuts. ive never seen one with a profile like that
Yeah, I only have two of them... And the other I used so much for my terrible forehand and forehand rollers, that it's not really that overstable anymore... So this is the only beefy one I have left... 😂
I would guess that you keep the zone and teebirds. This will be an interesting video series...
Since you mentioned the TeeBird you have that was just penned with a star and a T, I did quick research through the Innova catalog pdfs that I have, and you might find this interesting:
TeeBird has been around forever.
TL came out in 2005.
TeeRex came out in 2007
TeeDevil came out in 2012.
Tern came out in 2013.
Thunderbird came out in 2014.
Teebird3, TL3 came out in 2015.
So there weren't a lot of discs that started with a T in Innova's line-up until 2012, when they produced a new one a year through 2015. I'm guessing that specific TeeBird came out before 2012.
Yeah, I love this run of them! I got about 5 of them. They feel nice and chalky as well... So I just picked them up whenever I saw them! They aren't the most overstable, they actually turn a bit out of the box... But that's why I love them! They hyzerflip brand new and they glide for DAYS!
@@ApolloDiscGolf From what I read online, there was the initial batch of T penned TeeBirds that were TeeBird X (a normal TeeBird) and subsequent runs were the TeeBird L mold because the CE plastic was so overstable that the initial TeeBird run was too beefy, but the TL run in that premium plastic (of that era) made them more stable than the other TLs. So you may have the later runs that were all actually premium TLs.
@@NickCarroll They are definitely the regular Teebird-X mold... They star plastic just came out slightly less stable. But they are concaved on the bottom of the wing with the bead at the end, so definitely a Teebird-X mold! Just an older run after PFN but before they took off the Patent numbers
Thanks for adding kph on top of m/s 😊
🙌
throw Evaders!!!! you throw them so well! i bet you keep zone and Buzzz, bye wraith and Teebirds...
I would guess keeping Lunas as putting is such an intimate feel part of the game, and then maybe tee-birds as the are a stable driver with better forgiveness than most newer discs. Wow, such an old bag. More amazing for not having lost more along the way rather than change for change sake. Looks like you are a if it’s not broke, don’t fix it kind of guy which is good most of the time.
Especially if you don’t play in many tournaments then a big switch for the rest of the year should be fun for you and for us to ‘watch.’
Yeah, I am actually pretty pumped to change things up!
Don’t change anything. You making these videos day in and day out, keeps your throwing consistent. I think you should compete! You might surprise yourself with how much “practice” you’ve done. Let’s get a round in and work on that mental game.
For sure! But I have already made the decision to change things up 😂
I have been trying things out and pretty confident in the options that I am throwing out there Wednesday! I don't anticipate it being too difficult to fit the new molds into my game! But yeah, I need to definitely play some more events and get some more serious practice in some time!
You’re keeping the Wraiths. I can’t find a better driver for someone who throws less than 400 feet.
Switch the buzzes out for md1 stock run. I'd also like to see some evolution line Discmania. Not sure if you're down to be a discmaniac but I've slowly been incorporating more Discmania molds into what was pretty similar to your bag
Discmania definitely has some solid discs, and I have always been a fan of what they are doing! Them and Dynamic Discs!
I'm guessing you'll keep that Pro Roc3 and your Wraiths. Thanks for experimenting for our entertainment and education!
Discs you should consider: Heavy MVP Ohm (Glitch + Berg baby), 160 gram MVP Resistor, 160 gram MVP Motion, Heavy & Tallest PLH Axiom Crave
Definitely have some gyro in mind up for votes!
Is the Ohm the Pilot with gyro?
@@jamesmcghee7198 I haven't held them side by side to compare. But the Ohm is definitely nice!
Zone and Teebirds ✌🏻
Get a Jokeri in the Ultrium plastic. It's bullet proof. Straight money!!!
Yeah all I have thrown is the base plastic ones! I need to try some premium plastic ones!
I imagine that you will want keep a few Wraiths and the jokeri. What surprised me most about your bag (other than the jokeri and the Wraiths) was the amount of Innova molds you carry. Aren’t you located in the middle of Dynamic Disc’s country? Having zero trilogy discs in your bag seems anathema. Personally, I shed a tear whenever you tell the story of pulling the Justice out of your bag. I envision a Grace or two and a Culvern in your future.
Yeah, I really love Dynamic Discs and love what all they are doing! I honestly don't know why none of their molds have made my bag... Maybe because I was set on these discs early on around when DD was just starting to make discs and they just didn't have much that fit my game? Like if the Evader came out around 2012-2013 I might have switched to that over my Teebirds! But I even tried a bunch of their stuff and just kept going back to what I knew... But now that's changing because nearly everything is leaving!
You're keeping the Luna and Teebirds
Keep the Zone and your Teebirds
👀
The Drew Gibson Tour Series Jokeris are sweet. Check them out.
Yeah I haven't tried any of the Premium plastic Jokeri's yet!
My guess is the Luna and the teebird stay but you should really throw an FD and FD1 combo to replace your teebird.
Why should he? If he loves and knows his teebirds just stay with them. I personally throw fd and i like it better than teebird but everyone to their own.
@@jii-ro7083 IDK if you watched the whole video or not but he is switching up the molds in his bag. Hes looking for suggestions.
S-line FD would be your dead straight/hyzer flip fairway.
C-line FD1 would be your more dependable Teebird/Teebird3 flier.
I actually really like changing things up. There's a lot of value in knowing those staples inside and out, but losing one matters so much more when it happens. Bagging new stuff every now and again, even if I ultimately switch back, keeps me from being too locked in with my game. I understand why people like to keep things consistent and minimize molds, but I've never felt the need. I'm just not that picky about the hand feel of anything but putters. Excited to see you try some new stuff going forward! [Are you going to try a new bag, too?]
I will probably eventually try a new bag! But not sure which yet 😂
But my Grip is definitely getting pretty worn now that I am carrying more stuff with all my camera gear and review discs... The zippers are starting to get worn out!
@@ApolloDiscGolf So what you're saying is a potential bag review series? 😅
Lol, we will see! 😂
Bet you keep those Lunas and the yellow Wraith. I also think you'll be bagging that purple Grace. Give the Premium Sensei a try too for throwing. Keeps any line you put it on. I even got a little 215ft Ace with one this weekend!
The Sensei is solid! It's a shame that they don't make them in base plastic at higher weights and more stiff... Otherwise that is a solid contender to replace all my Lunas!
@@ApolloDiscGolf I also wish they would make them in the other plastics! I could really get down with a Meta Sensei!
Do you have some Sensei's in base plastic in the store? Are they really consistent 170 g? (My Blue were 170g)
@@Iliyena87 I only have a couple and they are lighter weight ones, 167-169g... I need to get a few more!
Did you get your Grip bag on the black friday sale in 2012? That's when I got mine lol
Lol, yeah! whichever year these were released... Either 2012 or 2013!
Keeping the teebirds? That’s what I would do.
Random question, did you find any of the forged era colors to be more stable than the others. I have a purple one (from your shop) and it is quite a bit more stable the newer white one I got. But I can't find any of those purple ones anymore.
To be honest, the only Forged Era's I have thrown are the Launch Edition Blue ones that I reviewed, and then some composite ones! So I'm not sure how the stabilities change with the different colors!
@@ApolloDiscGolf my purple one is a little touchy if it's windy but if not you an put it on any line and expect some distance and a finish, but the white one I got flipped like it's windy when it's not.
Random question. What glasses frame is that?
They are from Nike! Model 7130. I love them!
I'd guess you're keeping the Wraiths
If you haven’t tried a Nathan Queen Wraith yet, you have to! Not enough people talking about it
What does it fly like??
@@ApolloDiscGolf It's a bomber right out of the box... Super neutral, and the star color glow plastic is unlike anything I've really felt before. Very soft, gummy, and flexible plastic. Borderline K1 Soft level, but not quite. Not sure if you're into that, but I love it! It's probably my favorite premium Innova plastic that I've felt. I had an old beat-in Teal Wraith that was very similar in shape, but very understable. I haven't thrown it much on forehands yet because I typically throw my 9 speeds (Firebird, Plasma Tesla, Eclipse Insanity, and Neutron Insanity), but the Nathan Queen Wraith I have is super flat, and I'd imagine it'd be a dream on forehands if I want to throw something a touch faster. To me, you gotta buy one simply because you're such a Wraith lover. At the very least, you have to find one to feel in the hand! I'll probably try to send you a vid of mine in flight on insta.
@@cliffphotographs Yeah that sounds nice! and I acutally love forehanding my Wraiths! When my forehand feels good, the Wraiths are just money!
@@ApolloDiscGolf You gotta pick one up! It’s been out since February 1st and they still have 173-175grams in blue, orange, pink, and white. My buddy dyed my white one, and it’s truly my farthest flying disc in my bag right now
how do you keep your discs overstable over such a long time? i got a cryztal flx zone 1 year ago and now it flips up when i throw it with power
Cryztal flex beats in faster and more than normal cryztal
Yeah I think that the Cryztal FLX beats in relatively fast. The old Cryztal ones maintain their stability more. And I'm not sure if they tweaked the mold at all when they added the tooling on the inside of the rim... So the Zone's today might just not be as overstable? But I'm not sure! Mine just might be an anomaly 😂
But I also don't use mine all the time like other do... Mine is definitely just used as a utility disc
@@ApolloDiscGolf I think more so it is your cryztal one holding its' stability longer. I have a really beat in cryztal flx that is basically straight. (but I do believe that is only from the earlier runs they got so straight) I also have several other flx and Z ones that are like a zone should be
Keeping the Luna & Wraith molds, switching the rest. I’m sure Bodanza will help with mold selection this week 😉
Replace the Lunas, keep the Jokeri and the Zone. New Mids, Fairways and Distance Drivers. Enigmas or DD1 for Wraiths, Hex, MD1/Mako3, Volt, FD, Vulture.
👀
@@ApolloDiscGolf there are so many molds that have been in my hands, they feel similar but they just are not the same, Jokeri is a one disc do it all amazing upshot and off the tee putter/mid hybrid. I do not throw a Zone, but bag a BT Med Harp in that slot, it seems to have lost some stability, but not my Jokeri(Premium). Thouhts on the Wasp? Essence ? Keep up the good work ! David have you had a chance to try the Respecti ? Older Prodiscus mold, in base plastic when they beat in they are amazing.
I haven't had a chance to try other Prodiscus stuff! I probably should! The Jokeri is amazing! And the Wasp is great! Its basically a slightly deeper Roc3. And the Essence is awesome! Great for just about any skill level! I have done a review of the Zen 2 and talk about how great the Essence is in general!
What are the two molds?
You will find out Wednesday!
@@ApolloDiscGolf No. Now.
P.S. Streamline Echo
I haven't had a chance to try that one out yet!
@@ApolloDiscGolf it’s pretty nice 😏😏😏
i throw a p3x for that jokeri slot, and I go with two dx rocs, and two roc3s
Teebirds and Lunas will stay.
19 disk in "minimalist"? I guess I'm ultra minimalist lol
I can't tell you how many people I have played with in tournaments who carry 30+ discs... It's insane... My back hurts just watching them 😂
