    Pearls I dug out:
    - Being online makes you craft an online persona. And being online influences your online persona. This in turn influences your offline persona (real self). For a lot of people the internet influences them negatively.
    - Being immoral gives you an advantage in gaining (short term) capital. The values that succeed in the current system are gaining traffic, engagement, capital.
    - Community and alone time are both important things to have in life. Most people nowadays probably have too much alone time, so focus on building community.
    - Don’t have twitter. Or instagram for that matter.
    - Keep doing shit away from the internet. The internet is only a stepping stone towards the rest of your life.
    - Caring about the hustle or the “sauce”, is one of the paths to succes. But do not get lost in the sauce, it will fuck you up mentally and will be bad for the world. Do not get blinded by the muck.

so be immoral, associate yourself deep in your communities, and mostly only worry about the hustle and gaining capital ...

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this episode but I cant help but feel that they had gokanaru on with a very specific expectation of the narrative he was gonna spell out; then tried to pull it out of him when he trailed on about anything else. Which is fine, nothing wrong with trying to direct the show; but i find that a podcast's format works a lot better when you really let the guest shine (joe rogan for example). Ultimately this episode left me wanting to hear more from gonkanaru, when in theory i should be wanting to hear more horseshoe theory as well

Gokanaru was being clear you don't need to make him present a watered down moral every few minutes.
If you want the audience to have more to grab onto just say what you think about what he's saying, cut in and sum it up. You had him apologizing for speaking unfiltered (for the first time in a while) and instead of filtering what he was saying through your mind you were putting him on the spot like a teacher and making him feel bad

About Sneako surrounding himself with kids: if you have felt unloved and unappreciated as a child your mind internalizes all those stories. "I am incapable and unworthy of love". But when you are grown you can surround yourself with children (your children in most cases) that see you as very cool and capable, their perception of you is an empowering story for your mind than can become your new reality. So in a way the child becomes a parent to the parent/creates their own parent. You can sort of become your childs fantasy.

Not sure if Gokanaru will mention it in his video, but when I was a Sneako fan I noticed this all started the moment he cheated on his girlfriend and tried to play it off like it was nothing, and half of his fanbase attacked him for it, it was surprising because it showed how much the audience loved him, they were pointing out his fckups rather than mindlessly supporting his every endeavor. I think an interesting addition to answer the question, "why should you care about twomad?" is that he is also one of the most recent online figures that represents edgy humour. He managed to gain popularity despite the shift to "standardized" CZcams. The way he responds to his controversies is a manifestation of rebellion against political correctness and cancel culture. I personally wonder if people support him just because of that, and I would be curious as to how/if that "influenced" people.
I think that exploration of internet ethnography is a very necessary thing! It excites me that it seems that this is emerging between you guys! -- Seems like JReg has the [idea] organization skills/academic knowledge, and Gokanaru has the data collection/creative lead ... would make a nice team.
The lost+loneliness arc is something that I personally have been going through as I transitioned to my Master study. Nice to hear it from this perspective here. I have definitely had moments teetering on getting blackpilled. This video also enlightened me to some things that I observe affecting my younger brother who is 15 (zoomer lol). I like jreg's content but can't finish this podcast, I don't think people that listen to podcasts are going to be bothered about a guest rambling...isn't that kind of the point of long form content? Even if you disagree and want this to be more streamlined I feel like there's better ways to help keep someone on track, this just felt mean and condescending IDK. To invite someone who thinks a certain way on and then pick on them for thinking that way is strange.

lol The dude on the right looks tapped out and keeps acting like gokunaru is just rambling. “You’re all over the place” …..kinda, but still all of that sounded pretty coherent to me. He had a lot of really insightful takes. And I didn’t feel like the through line was hard to follow. He clearly understands the topics he makes videos about, it makes sense that he would give in depth explanations of the subject matter

Lol hahha for real. While I didn't finish it ( got a good 6-700 pgs in) I remember it just got less funny, while getting more and more intricate. I'll admit I will never tire of the Boston Alcoholics Anonymous section, holy shit is that funny.
Either way, no matter how good it is, it's the worst and dumbest literary flex to put up.
Put up McCarthy or Inherent Vice or if you need it to be a
big tomb and still needs to be huge, use Against the Day. Lol I'm kidding.
I would be tempted to do Gravity's Rainbow because it's in my top 5 and i absolutely, absolutely love the hell out of that book .. but I agree get rid of IJ

  • @UGLY-MONEY17

The beginning of the interview was awesome. But Jesus Christ the end was painful. The guy on the right keeps cutting him off, and reiterating the same points in his own words. That was so annoying. It literally made this entire interview take a nose dive. It completely sucked the momentum out of the conversation (which started off pretty solid)
You shouldnt guilt trip your guests for giving you content lol. You could tell how rushed gokunaru felt towards the end. It almost seemed like the guy on the right purposely killed the conversation because he didn’t have anything to contribute. Yuck
