"I don't have much hope for my future" - that's too real 🤣
I was going to message you about The Will of the Many, because someone who comments regularly on my blog recently read it and obsessed over it. She says it has dark academia vibes. She was wary because she'd heard things about his first series that weren't so great, but she loved Will of the Many. And then she went back and tried to read his first series and DNFed it in the first book. So I would say, don't be scared.
"At the moment, I'm just the turmoil" - again, super relatable. 🤣

I feel like finding new books atm is so difficult that I've just been working through my backlist and rereading for the most part 😅 Seems like those surprise books by Brandon Sanderson have flopped for a lot of people/put them off his work. My current read is probably not going to help you - In the Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami... it's just weird.😅 Hope you find something that gets you more motivated soon though!

I’m both glad I’m not alone and also able to recognise that this sucks. New releases, pls be good! That doesn’t help me but I appreciate the attempt. 😂
