For anyone with comments about the singing, please listen to the studio recording of this tune - it will then make sense - and put a smile on your face! Whoever is singing in the audience knows the original and is feeling the sheer joy of this tune - even if they are a bit pitchy. Now, on to the real thing - that breakdown that Pat plays to start his solo. It is quite different from the original recording and yet in it's intensity, commitment and sheer fucking daring is in a domain very few musicians dare enter. Seriously - who else does shit like that? Every musician with a good sense of time knows that coming out of that breakdown is a place where you can dig your grave or summit you personal Everest. Over thirty-five years after the original Grammy-winning recording, with a completely different band, and nothing to prove to anybody, Pat is still trying to - as he would say - "find the good notes." Absolute mastery.
The break Pat plays is different every night, always has been. The only rule he applies is that it should be mostly fast 8ths and involves some chromaticism.
coincido Julio, extraño algunos temas extraordinarios como Travels, Wherever you go, Something to remind you, September fifteen, The moon is a harsh mistress y otros 50 temasos
Pat Metheny, Mr. Jazz, your music heals the soul.
How many world class jazz musicians can say they have their audiences singing along on their shows?

Como se extraña el talento de Lyle Mays y los arreglos de voces. Igual está la esencia y nostalgia.

Who’s singing?
Some dude in the audience near the camera. Always incredible that so many in the audience know these melodies well enough to sing along!
