"They're just filming someone's D&D campaign, aren't they?"
Yes, every 80s fantasy movie ever did this...
Same with Anime Films or Ovas. I swear, not enough Good Fantasy movies these days.
@@hypnodance
Yes they were, but the Fantasy Genre never won any major awards for storytelling till Lord of the Ring.
and then we stopped doing that and the world was poorer for it
How many 80's fantasy movies are there?
@@GODCONVOYPRIME not enough
"He forgot about his missing fingers!"
-- Priceless!
Some characters (or actors) always seem to forget that it's possible to do things left-handed. TWO characters on 'The Walking Dead' lost their right eyes, yet they continued to shoot right-handed.
> Cecil makes a video about a silly obscure "bad flick"
Torrents: STONKS
Stonks go up?
"Who you calling Fatty, moosehead?!?"
And the look on the other guy's face had me🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When Beastmaster or LadyHawke is a bit too high brow, The Barbarian Brothers come in clutch
And then there is Thor the Conqueror.
This was my FAVORITE movie as a kid.
For some reason in the late 80"s early 90's regular tv where I lived showed this movie at least three times a year.
I recorded it, and watched it over and over again.
Good pick.
Oh man ,me too brother.
I've taped it from an italian channel (Italia 1). Watched it over and over again
Just like Commando, every year its on TV, and I must watch it at least once per year.
Last year it was on tv way into november, i thought i would not manage to watch it in 2020
I live in Estonia and here they show all Die Hard movies every Christmas. The official Christmas movies! 💪🏻
There's even a bluray of this movie now!! More valuable to me than most current films!!
Watched this a few weeks back. A staple of my youth. R.I.P. David Paul.
Such a lovely tribute to the Barbarian Brothers . It's lovely to hear you speak about a light hearted movie with such joy .
I'm having such good memories watching this, this movie was EVERYTHING to me.
I haven't seen these faces in 30 years, after seeing them everyday, several times a day, these were my friends.
For those wondering, the sorceress' name he didn't want to say was China.
Uh oh. You're on the watchlist now. Mentioning China is verbotten.
Really? I thought it'd be like...Queen Kuntar or somethn
That’s a let down. I was expecting something ... actually bad. Is China a negative term for CZcams now? If so, is Turkey next? The word Grease could also get confusing.
@@BATCHARRO haha are we brothers? I was thinking some version of that. Or like Twattara the Mysterious or similar.
@@NefariousKoel *verboten
The Barbarian Brothers and their muscles and rad mullets. Totally screams out 80s and early 90s.
Sadly, one of them passed away not long ago. RIP.
The two leads speak like Jersey boys while everyone else have "historical drama accent".
Jersey was big in historical times.
the 80s were the good ole days before you had to do a British accent in your fantasy film
Which part of Jersey includes guys with laughs that sound like a braying donkey?
@@jliller the shore...definitely the shore.
@@jliller All of it.
"Gor tries to hump the water." Thanks, Cecil. I needed that five-minute laughing fit.🤣
When the Cannon Seal of Approval was said, I knew we were all in for a treat.
"that night, they return to detroit..."
omfg
lol Though detroit looks more like the Capitol wasteland, though without the historical buildings, supermutants, and more hoodlums.
I have to say, that opening chase scene is pretty awesome. Definitely talented stunt men.
I'm surprised you didn't mentioned Michael Berryman, who's been in "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" and Wes Craven's "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Deadly Blessing".
Also the Devil´s Rejects
@@ChibiHelloween Can't forget "Weird Science"
And "Rock n Roll Aliens" (i think thats the name of it), as the Crazy Chainsaw Killer.
Provably didnt mention it because anyone watchi g this channel most likely knows who that is
he was also in ruggero’s other crazy 80s movie
12:15 "Kind of like Pamela Anderson on Baywatch. No one was watching her act."
I absolute was watching her... Oh, you said "act", never mind then.
It's something usually not spoke out during that show's run.
But ya, not for the acting
"They really did this" is applicable to some many great Good Bad Flicks. Love it. Saw this one at B-Fest. Hope it comes back after COVID
You just made my day! I love this movie. Barbarian Brothers were indeed as wild and crazy in real life and they appeared on screen. Plenty of stories of their antics online from their days at Golds Gym in the 80s.
Great example of how the right tone and a few endearing performances can really elevate a lower budget flick.
A lot of fun. The tone was great, the brothers were hilarious goofballs, and Eva La Rue was SOOOO hot. No, not a great movie, but entertaining and fun as all hell, well worth seeking out.
Loved it as a kid. So many good memories and still fun to watch. Thank you!
Richard Lynch? That’s the real seal of quality.
I watched this movie only to see him then. (I still have the soundtrack CD, well.)
@@atsukorichards1675 Dude that CD is a collector's item worth 40$, no kidding
That movie is an absolute blast and i loved when i was a kid
I can't believe there is anyone outside of my family that knows about this movie! My brother and I used to do the barbarian "howl" to each other all the time.
Howl? Lol, if you want to call it that. If you burp, you call it a howl too?
I never knew this is where the Barbarian Brothers got the nickname from... I can't wait to see you do a review of Double Trouble, that was one of my favorite movies as a kid.
So much nostalgia wrapped up in this one; I 100% agree that playing up the over-the-top silliness was exactly what this movie needed. Fun and full of charm.
Watched this as a kid and it was my favorite sword and sorcery movie. Bought the recently released blu-ray.
CECIL: How could you not like these two dorks?
ME: We like them because they are dorks!
God I miss the days when sword and sorcery was a thing
I would be 100% down for a new sword and sorcery movie that didn't try to be serious.
@@jedh3721
Same :)
Nowadays it will be a movie with women wearing more clothes than an Eskimo fighting an evil government of mostly naked men...
@@matthewferguson6524
Would be pretty hard to root for the former lol. That's what's wrong with many of today's movies, though. Hard to root for the main characters.
Probablynot gonna love the Amazon Lord of the Rings show.
The Witcher was pretty good though.
Hiding in a pit to kill a dragon as it passes overhead is straight out of Norse mythology. It's how Sigurd killed Fafnir.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%A1fnism%C3%A1l
NOW who's the Sneaky Snake, huh?!
Yup...J.R.R. Tolkien also stole the idea from Norse mythology and used it in his novella "Children of Hurin"
@@caseygoddard Not to be pedantic (and I'm not even a fan of his literature), but Tolkien didn't "steal": he was reconstructing a lost mythos which, like all indo-european mythos shared elements with the surviving ones. He was not "writing fantasy" for readers as an author, he was working as an anthropologist, reproducing mythos patterns.
Nothing screams *'80s!* more than the Cannon logo and Richard Lynch. That and the big hair.
7:48 I feel so bad for that creature. He gets both arms pulled of and his reaction is like, "okay, well, that happened." Like, he seems as if he was already depressed and now it's just worse.
Peter and David Paul were also in a "cut" scene from Natural Born Killers!
I kept looking at both of them trying to figure out where I had seen them before but yep that's them.
Conqouring huns of Neptune 😄
They also played thugs in a two-part episode of "Knight Rider".
I love the look of those 80´s sword and sorcery movies. They all look magical to me, I don´t know why but recent fantasy movies don´t do the same for me.
my favorite modern fantasy is The Head Hunter (2018).
although its very different from most fantasy movies since it has almost no dialogue (it's 'show dont tell' at its finest), it's grim af and slow as dirt.
the trailer kind of makes it look like an action-horror with jump scares, although its a slow burning story of revenge and the loss of humanity.
definetely better watched by yourself.
@@2st486 I saw the trailer a long time ago but i forgot to see the movie. Gonna watch!
This is why this channel is valuable. He brings up films that I totally forget existed.
This movie looks like it has so much himbo energy
This may be the best thing that i've ever seen. EVER. the movie with the two mains where they drive semi trucks is also great. A quote that has always stuck with me One says "S*it" the other says "F*ck", then in unison they say "S*it F*ck" lol.. for some reason that has always stuck with me since seeing it as a kid
It definitely had a tongue and cheek feel to it.
"Like Pamela Anderson in Baywatch, nobody's watching her act!"
I'd argue the same rule applied with Tia Carrere in Relic Hunter.
Heck they even included a bra shot in the intro...
I'd say the same is true of Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman. Not that's she's an especially bad actor ... just that no one even notices her acting, good OR bad, because she's so exceptionally nice to look at...
@@Jesse__H Gadot is a pint above Anderson in the acting department.
I'd only ever seen Twin Sitters before. I'm not surprised to find out that the Twins weren't really "Acting" so much as just being themselves in a different setting.
Sword & Sorcery needs to come back like no other. Great upload!
Cannon was very special, I miss their kind of productions.
Still one of the most underrated CZcams channels.
Now i need to know the Sorceress' name
Yeah, what is it?
Checked IMDB and she's credited on there as China.... so *shrug*
If you say china repeatedly in a video it can needlessly get your video flagged
@@2Eliishere Ah! That makes sense. It's pathetic but it makes sense! LOL
@@Haplo699g maybe it’s short for Vachina.
This is one of my favourite Cannon films. Two barbarian lugs.
Your comedic timing and memes are underrated. Such wholesome goodness.
So you're gonna cover some more Barbarian Brothers movies? Awesome!! Please do D.C. Cab, next.
My friends incorporated the Barbarian Bros. into one of their DnD games, but they had forgotten their names, so they were Dar and Gar (not Kuchek.) The best line in that was when they defeated the dragon and come out on the other side of the cave, and comment how good it was their horses were already there waiting for them. "They knew by instinct we'd come out here."
I know I watched this one but I'll be damned if I remember any of it. Guess it's time for a re-watch!
I love the so-called "Barbarian Cycle" movies. In some way they were a pure form of cinema as they were just entertainment, and so often done without the pretense of being more.
I remember watching this flick on cable when I was a kid. It was great and I watched it every chance I could. Thanks for the memories!
Beautiful scenery in the beginning.
LOL OMG, I was literally looking up this movie just a month ago because I was trying to see if it matched a scene I saw once at a glance on cable. And here is Cecil to give me the lowdown! Your timing is impeccable.
OMG! I can't believe you did this movie. This is awesome. This is one of my favorite films of all time and I still own it on VHS.
Loved this movie as a kid. Can't believe it has a blue ray release
I remember watching this as a kid. The scene where they find the ruby inside the dragon stuck with me.
FINALLY!!!!! HAHA I'd been asking for a year+ now! haha Thank you!
I loved these 2 when I was a kid. Their energy on screen was so addictive!!! Their silliness always made me laugh so hard. I think it would have been amazing to party with them.
God I love these... I really dig Cecil's positivity, too. :) Thanks man! Moare pleez!
More to come :)
@@GoodBadFlicks Thanks Cecil! Really appreciate all you do. Keep well :)
I love the Paul Brothers. they're hilarious
I loved this movie. I still love this movie!
Mu cousin and I watched this on like a Sunday back in 99 or 00 and even though we made fun of the movie the whole time. We watched it from beginning to end. It's definitely worth the watch.
Me and my twin brother loved this movie as kids. It still looks great and the story still sounds amazing to me. Gotta rewatch it.
My family absolutely enjoyed this movie when I was young. Thanks for the memories.
I said on one of your recent videos that anything with Richard Lynch is welcome, and lo and behold, you come up with this
There's a few videos of David Paul just being himself out in the wild (as well as a pretty crazy interview from years ago). To say that he was quite the character is a massive understatement.
Watch Spoony's review of this!!
That is a name I haven't heard in many years
5 minutes in and I'm sold. Time to find this movie. Seems like a long-term feel-good movie.
I love this movie so much as a kid!! Thank you so much for doing a video on it!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
Peter and David Paul are the best Paul brothers by far.
Fun Fact: The Barbarian Brothers had a small part in Natural Born Killers by Oliver Stone, the scene was cut from the movie. It was included in the DVD special features, and they went over the top with their performance which is why Stone cut the scene.
"Each one of their movies is an absolute treasure, and I look forward to talking about them ALL!"
Translation: "Suck it, Hadley!!" :)
oh he hated that we made him watch all the movies lol
I read this comment as it was said in the video lol.
I didn't think ANYONE had seen this movie too!
Loves their movies! RIP David Paul.
' to make me feel this way .. '
Hero 👊😎 !!
Chicken bone, chicken bone, lucky, lucky chicken bone!
Man, I gotta get this on dvd or bluray.
Loved this as a kid I remember having the VHS and I would watch this and Masters of the Universe whenever it was broadcasted on TV
A Golan Globus swords and sandals movie that doesn't take itself seriously... can you ask for anything more?
Two barbarian goofballs and their quest to score lol.
Original Himbos. And while they can't act, they are genuinely cheerful and goofy, so that comes across well.
I always loved these guys. They were so much fun to watch.
I've got to see this film, looks like there isn't a minute wasted.
I rented this movie enough to put my corner video store owner's kid through college.
I have been waiting so long for you to do this movie and I squealed like a happy child when I saw it on my list this morning!!!
I totally agree about all the Barbarian Bros films. Nobody makes movies with leads that just show up and have fun like these guys and Cheech & Chong.
Love the "Over the top" comment. My brother's and I use it whenever we see arm wrestling also 😄
This one's definitely in my top 5 sword and sorcery flicks. ...and I'm a bit obsessed with them.
I loved how the movie looked
Omg I haven’t seen this in so long. Such a fun movie
Remember seeing this as a kid and thinking "those two huge musclemen are more childish than I am!"
LMAO, those two were hilarious! When they call that one guy MOOSEHEAD! Always cracked me up.
Absolutely loved this to bits as a kid :) ... It formed the basis for so many D&D adventures I DM'ed I can't even count.
Hell yeah!! Used to watch this with my little brother eons ago and it was one of our favorites
One of my favorites....
As a Detroiter, I approve of that joke 😂
If anyone is interested in watching any of the other Barbarian brothers movies, you can find "Double Trouble" currently on TubiTV.com , "Twin Sitters" and "Think Big" here on CZcams. All 3 are free to watch. Haven't been able to find "The Barbarians" though which makes me sad.
I watched this yesterday. I love it. A guilty pleasure 🙂
What's guilty about it?
used to love this movie back in the day. still really enjoy it. and yep it's the brothers that make it a win. just two big goofballs having fun
The Paul brothers had a charm that absolutely transcended their lack of acting skills. This movie was fun, as was Think Big.
