The thing that occurred to me on seeing the state of it was having it as part of a driving gaming rig!
I thought about that too! But I can’t resist turning it into a car again…all be it a very revised format!
@@HudsonAutoFilms Sticking that on a Disco chassis would be wonderful on so many levels. Or, if you wanted to be really ironic, plonk it on a LR SIIA chassis - leaf springs, soupy steering, asthmatic engine, the lot. It would be the world's slowest Aston Martin ever!
Good on you... if you spot shells etc for a few quid and you have space to store them go for it... not only for parts but after a while you might have a 'Rat Rod'... keep it up...!
Exactly! There just seems too much engineering and good bits to let it rot away. Let’s have some fun with it!
yes a aston rat rod i am here for @@HudsonAutoFilms
These youtubers nowadays are getting ridiculous, next we will see a dude buying a badge and rebuilding the car around it for 50 euros
Damn…you guessed my next build
I bought a 911 tyre valve cap at a car boot in Camborne, now I hoss about in a gt2rsmr ….thank you youtube
@@HudsonAutoFilms😂😂 great reply to a downer✌️👍🇬🇧
I’ve got some original rolls Royce ghost air from a tyre ,,,50£
😂🤣🤣
Just want to say, take photos of the complete 4x4 before you strip it. Even for a rebody, the DVLA are going to want to see the 'before' photos of the COMPLETE vehicle, or they can be really funny about it. Hope I'm not too late with this.
You’re absolutely right. I’m documenting the whole thing with pictures and videos!
As a serial TVR owner but who bought a blue V8 Vantage roadster in the summer I was quite hoping you’d say that sort of mash up but fully understand the rationale.
Good luck!
I've got a Cerbera and not long had a DB9. If he wants a run around gt then put something boring in it. Common sense and raw power, TVR all day long. Land Rover?! Wtf? Yawn
Heading the way Clarkson did with the old merc and built the excellent. Think it would be fun and cool. 🎉
Exactly! Just a bit of silly fun, but why not!
Good luck on building that matey
Thank you!!
Your opening statement would seem correct. You've certainly bitten off more than most can chew with this one.
Despite so far having only seen you pulling things apart (pretty much), I trust that whatever crazy idea is in your head when you look at this shell will turn into something good.
I am a self proclaimed nob. But I have to say, at this point in time I certainly couldn’t restore the new car to its former glory (not that it’s viable anyway). But when it comes to modern cars and computers, it’s beyond me. But putting it on a landrover is something I can manage!
You make a good point, almost everything so far has been taking apart. But next week is the first build up video which is exciting. The strip down is always easy but often very daunting once you get to the end of it. Where most people give up I suppose. But I feel very exited to finally be in the place to start building up!
Put it on a Landy chassis. Make it a proper off road beast. Go all out with 35x12.5 Yokohama M/Ts and have an Aston Monster.
Aston Monster! Like it! That’s the plan, will be great fun!
You could source the missing front panels, keep the body looking original but turn it into a custom 4x4 could be cool if you do it right
That’s the plan! Most of the parts sourced now, almost ready to get cracking!
Well on the plus side at least the folding roof isn’t ripped! 🤣🤣🤣
Looking forward to what you will do. Have you thought about using an Ev skateboard chassis, would be super cool?
That would be cool! The issue mainly comes down to registration. If I went for a new chassis, I would have to undergo extensive testing, which would end up costing a disgraceful amount of money. BUT, I have another Aston project which I’m yet to unveil which will be going electric ⚡️
Great stuff. Will look forward to that 👍
lots of scope keeping it legal...don't forget Edd China made a roadworthy sofa car...for a minute there I thought you were going to bolt the front onto the red Aston..😃
Absolutely, we’ll build something fun and unique! And slightly safer than his sofa! Haha now putting that front end on the DBS would stir the purists!
@@HudsonAutoFilms😂😂😂
Screaming out to become a Robin Reliant in yellow with T.I.T. painted on the side 👍🏻
That would be great fun, I actually have a reliant robin hiding behind the back of the barn!
I see the donor for your DBS V8 . You can't use the chassis but the Red car is just crying out for the mechanical parts to get it running. 😁😁
On a Disco chassis, 4WD, big tyres, BIG exhausts, matt black - a la Mad Max rig.
That’s the plan! Will be a mean machine!
@@HudsonAutoFilms You Sir,have just got yourself another subscriber ! 👍
These old Aston grilles up there, nice
Thanks! I’m a little obsessed with Aston as you can tell…!!
Man that would make a Perfect 24 hours of Lemons car.
It would! It’s going to be an interesting budget build…!
Me "Wow you are restoring an old Aston, that's awesome, best of luck"
Also me "Wow, you've taken on a second AM to restore, that's amazing, good luck"
Me now "Are you a glutton for punishment"
Should be interesting to see all three projects.
😂😂 it’s a problem… I just like to suffer 😎
Looking forward to seeing your build 👍👍
Thank you! It will be good fun!
some kind of madmax thing? like a aston martin cabin on a truck chassis with a Big hulking engine
That’s the plan!
Bit of duct tape, some cable ties and WD40. A weekend of elbow grease and most of the scuffs should buff out!
Exactly! Don’t forget a couple of pork pies.
@@HudsonAutoFilms _But, of COURSE!_
Dude, Roadkill! - All it needs is a suitable name.. the "DisadVantage" has a certain ring...
just needs a good clean and some tlc lols good for 200 quid though
Nothing a bit of polish won’t fix!!
Mounting it backwards on a donor chassis?
Now that would be funny. We’ll have to see!
Hope the, 'certain British 4x4' is a Jensen FF!
Good god - with reference to the Aston - Being it was owned by Ford, you can choose between a Model T, a Pinto, Cortina or maybe a Prefect. (Mind you only the Model T has an actual chassis I believe). New subscriber.
How about a Mazda MX5 backbone chassis, plenty of solid engine and gearbox options then as well
It's not a backbone chassis, it's a floorpan.
Would make a lovely sofa and drinks bar?!!
I don’t think my wife would allow it in the house!! I tried with a motorcycle once, I thought it would look lovely in the living room. But it didn’t go down well!
Great idea, like that!
Everyone needs a 4x4 Aston 😀
Would an already registered Kit car not be a better alternative than a heavy ladder chassis Landrover or an XKR convertible?
I think it comes down to engineering…and I mean that in the loosest possible way. But to put something like a kit car or even a jag underneath - by the end it would just be a less capable V8 vantage. Whereas, a landrover would just be pure fun and create something unique and bazaar. Pointless, but fun!
@@HudsonAutoFilms”Bazaar” as in “ghetto”? Bizarre in any case…
You have so gotta build an Aston through the ages on a custom chassis? I’m an engineer/ welding fabricator in Cambridge if you need any help! Lol
Email me! My email is in the about section, we’re not far from each other so would be great to do something!
I live in Southam. You seem to like alloy Touring bodied cars. I have 3 Lancia Flaminias, a better car than the DB4/5’s and for a tenth of the cost..!
it would be nice but like for 200 pound you could try to make a drift car ls swap or something fun (1.9tdi lol) maybe some fiberglass widebody panels for the quarter since it doesnt need to be that rigid even tho its prob all bent and suspension points gone so that wouldnt be fun
Yeah I think I’m going to make some wide body panels for it. And I’ve got a few panels that are missing. It was so cheap we’re just going to have fun with it!
exactly a really nice project just to experiment with and make a good base even if its just for track use@@HudsonAutoFilms
I was offered a new V8 Vantage in 2008 for £26k, it was part of Anglo Irish Bank's asset fire sale when they needed to raise cash quickly during the credit crunch, it was in a barn near the factory. Alas I didn't buy it as I didn't have the spare cash at the time, but I did get one years later. In 2008 I daily drove a TVR Tuscan, so having experience of AM and TVR I disagree with the statement "a less capable, significantly worse engineered Aston". I would take the TVR over the Aston any day, in my experience, quicker, more fun, simpler to fix, actually more reliable and going up in value.
Amazing that you were offered one at that price! I should have been more clear, I don’t mean that a TVR is less capable or of poorer engineering, I love them. I meant that trying to merge a TVR with this Aston shell would inevitably result in a car that is less capable and not as well engineered as each car in their original form! Both great machines out the tin, but trying to combine them would most likely be detrimental, unless great cost was spent!
@@HudsonAutoFilms Thank you for your reply, on behalf of TVR your apology is accepted 😉, I did wonder which way you meant, whether it was either TVRs engineering or if the sum of the parts would be less. Perhaps I jumped to the wrong conclusion, I'm just so used to TVR been knocked, I think people forget just how little budget they had, they were designing whole interiors on the kind of budget that VAG would spend on tooling a single switch. Anyway subbed because I'd like to see how this AM/LR offroader goes, btw best of luck. Yes AIB was just slightly beyond desperate, they also offered me a reasonable field's worth of used 7.5t tippers for £500 each.
Have you thought about getting help?🤭😉
They say I can’t be fixed 🥸
@@HudsonAutoFilms you're a category A 💀
CZcams therapy might count as self-help?
Its fits on a old toyota celica, Aston kits were made for them
Could be a cool speedster or some sort for trackday etc
Absolutely! I think I’ll be going the 4x4 route
It just needs a wash, an MOT and it'll be ready to go.
Exactly! Too easy really
What a car!
I know! Can’t believe these things get left to rot!
lol - great and absolutely bonkers!
This is what happens when I spend too much time in my shed…I should be kept chained up!
Fair play mate good luck
4x 4 off road Aston yes 👍👍👍🇦🇺
Let’s do it!!
This is amazing, just found your channel hope this build is complete soon✌️
Thank you! New episode on the way in a couple of weeks!
Need to sell a lot of mugs to fix that one 😊
Only 5,000 mugs to go!
Reminds me of years ago seeing a tr4 in about the same state, I knew a guy who dealt in tr, s, I thought I'd flip it into him, I bought for say 300 quid, rang him up and he said that's a coincidence I've just weighed a shell in after I'd stripped it....
Haha what a coincidence. I had a TR4 until a few months ago. Was a fun little car
@@HudsonAutoFilms you've moved up now bud, my mate worked at a BMC dealership in the 60s, if you did well they promoted you to the Aston sales floor he says, For years I had a horn push for a dbs vantage, g reg, I wrote the reg on it, must have been a parts car, I can remember seeing the triple webbers on it, I've had a couple of e types and a jensen but could never really stretch to a DB6 that I always wanted, as a road test said, be a king amongst men and a Prince amongst women with a DB6.
@@roystonvehicles9129 Aston has never been part of BMC. It''s had quite a parade of owners but never BMC or BL - thank God.
@@peterrenn6341 yes I know, it was a joke they used to say promote him to the Aston floor, he still says it to me.
That a V5 and vin tag, ring ring ring ring.
Will cost yiu more to restore this one than an already restored would cost 😮
Absolutely! That’s why we’re putting it on a Land Rover 😎😂
cool pedals brake and gas and clutch
They are cool!
Would be interesting to swap it onto an XJS make a db7 basically
It would be, but I think it would be hard to make it road legal 🙃
A quick buff out and she'll be good to go😉😉
Bit of T cut!
@@HudsonAutoFilms … Absolutely 🤣
This is a good candidate for selling parts
🙌🙌🙌
😀😀
Love it, love your reasoning, subscribed👍✌️🇬🇧
Thank you! It’s going to be fun! First video on the 4x4 Aston will be out in a couple of weeks…it’s going to be crazy!
You have great ideas
Thank you!
Hey... would you turn ir into a full rally car? Or like a dtm track car?! That would be sick!!! Im from the states but can you just use the chassis and trailer it? We can do that down here but idk your rules!
So I think it will be more of an off road jump car when it’s done! I’m determined to make it road legal, so currently working on that!
@@HudsonAutoFilms what if you did like a group s inspired build
Probably the funniest opening line I've watched this year! For the record you're far from being a knob, especially compared to certain self-promoters on here such as ratatosser and the 40 year old BMXer.
Haha thank you. Glad I made you chuckle!
Good luck
I’ll need it!
Instant subscribe.. you got me ❤
Thank you! Episode coming in a couple of weeks on it!
All you need now is 149,800 quid in parts and labour to bring it back to spec!
😂😂
FLAT EARTHERs next thing you will be saying is that the sun is a corn flake
thats a ballsy move.
but the screen is about 3k ,,, so even at half price your winning hands down.
Exactly! It was impossible for me to say no to! Will be a fun and strange build!
Track car!, yeah expensive I know.
That would be very fun! I just need to win the lottery first!
hi, i’m a new subscriber and loving what i’ve seen so far… i’m just wondering where you are based?
Thanks for subscribing! I’m in the east of England :)
Yes l am with you all the way, get that tasty motor
up & running then drop it
in the db thing behind you sorry about not
knowing the model
number, abit of the old &
new is a treat brah , so
get cracking old man
😮😮😮😮🙄🤣🤣🤣
Now how much did they pay you to haul off that scrap metal?
Not enough!
What about rover sd1 or triumph stag base sd1 front end lol
That would be cool 😎 I’ve already bought a Land Rover to put it on…the weirdest tow car ever 😂
Subscribed! Good luck!
Thank you!
Mate make it a paper weight😂🚘.
I’ll need a bigger desk!
😂@@HudsonAutoFilms
V8 vantage are the worse cars to drive I’ve had 4 Aston Martin! And I must say the v8 vantage was horrible for me lol
Maybe it will drive better with a Land Rover underneath 😂
I mean... you did say it was a dumb purchase xD
See I’m slightly self aware…not enough to avoid the purchase…but still a little bit aware lol
You can legally cut and shut cars so how come you can’t do what you said? I’m confused. Cool video btw
England has a summer ? ha ha ha
Well we call it ‘summer’. But if you blink you’ll miss it!
Bro this car you can make a fun project 😂 slap engine some panels seats and brum brum 😂 to find all another parts will cost you to much and allot of works 😅 but yea for 200 £ even I wouldn’t mind to not buy it
Vantage is a hardtop. That’s a valante.
Both the hard top and soft top are called vantage for this era!
she: what car you own . he: Aston Martin 😎
😂😂
Hiya.why don't you build a beach buggy on the Aston chassis
I suppose it will be! Just a big one with a Land Rover underneath!
you could probably use it to save another crashed one. or just buy basic parts and make a track car.
Indeed, I was tempted but I want to do something a bit more ridiculous!
@@HudsonAutoFilms Please do!
If I had that motor it would be fresh Ur mad bro
Ok. I'm 2 minutes in and have concluded you're nuts. Where's the car?! I mean, there are projects, and then.....
I am a self proclaimed nob. But by now you will have finished the video and hopefully see the direction. Which honestly…doesn’t help my case. I am nuts
What is te history of this car? i look like the panels have vinil adhesive... was a teft? or what? the couriosity is killing me
Just needs a polish and it will be fine.
T cut works wonders
Turn it in to a trike
So you are building a Dandy Landy with attitude.
That’s the plan!
Surley, that's worth more than 200 pounds???
I think so! That’s why I had to have it!
I think that you should invest start buying enough just to have a rolling chassis
Make a racing simulator out of it.
God tavarish what have you started...bro
Haha 😂
Just spray WD40 on it. Fix all that up in no time. WD40 fixes everything 😂😂😂
It does! I’ll get a few cans and it’ll be on the road in no time!
Jag xk8
Didn't come from Warwickshire by any chance did it? 😮😅😅😅👻
How did you know!!
@@HudsonAutoFilms live pretty much next to JLR and AML HQ, and think it lived on a farm near Southam for a short time,
Pretty sure I've span doughies in that car!!
Well, if it's not damaged, the windscreen alone is worth £500
It’s crack free! That was my thinking. Can’t go far wrong when the few parts that are left are valuable!
Why not buy a good one for £35,000. A bargain even at that price.
I think your avin a larf at us.
They are exceptionally good value. BUT as I mentioned at the beginning of the video, I am indeed… a nob
Be a dico 2 v8
OMG- scrap!!
I have a lust for rust
congrats....all the essential parts are missing!
Less to go wrong!
An overpriced XJS with ford mondeo switchgear, missing all the parts somebody cared about. It's definitely scrap.
It’s a 2007 and it’s been in a junk yard for 15 years?
Sadly was crashed in its first 12 months on the road
Should of drank the money.
Got to be a 'DB 4x4' !. You might be onto something, there all doing SUV's so why not !. 👍👍👍
They are! So we might as well get in the competition 😂
Just needs elbow grease and a little TLC.
A little WD40 should do the trick!
LOL
It was junk of the assembly line
