I've added an AppleTV 4K to it and I don't see any Chinese anymore, I've hooked it up to a Dolby Atmos LG SJ9 soundbar! Great value for money. Every day I'm jaw-dropped looking at it, you are inside the content, no TV can give you that.
Even the Home menu on the projector is no longer in English? I really like this projector and am considering it, but I am curious how it compares in a very dark room. Any input?
You main menu screen remains Chinese, with the USB language installation of English the most important parts are translated to English, e.g. HDMI1, 2, and 3, these you use to select your inputs. In the mean time I also hooked up a TV box, so now it boots in the device that is on, skipping the main menu screen.
I love this projector. I don’t have much space. Man this review was brutal on those NPCs.
you dont need a converter , it runs on 110 fine , all you need to get is a standard run of the mill 3 pin US mains lead. Also a tip .. to help with the menus that are not converted by the apk , use the live google translate option on your phone and you can get live menu translations looking at your phone screen.
Not ideal but helps with the non translated sections.

Bought this project 1 month ago. None of the downside (Chinese menu, App installs) bother me. I simply plugged in my existing Nexus Player Android TV box. Great to hear that gaming on this projector is very enjoyable too. I'm planning to hook up a PC gaming rig up to this projector next.

I installed the English partial translation APK and kodi. And even though I have a pretty decent decent media pc I ended up using the projector for kodi all of the times. It just does is all with a simple remote. Don't let the Chinese menu discourage you since you won't be spending time there anyway, and if you really need to adjust settings that are in Chinese just use Google translate app with the camera.

Luckily a small tech firm in Norway does the "hacking" for me/or in relationship with their supplier from china, when I bought it! exited to get it now:D great review, the only one with a decent cam showing of almost actual footage of what u get! I just found out Sunday night I did not need my converter that I brought a few months ago. I tried my laptop power cord it works but you must have the three clover style power cord.

Simple question, how do 4k movies look on this projector????? I want to make this projector a permanent part of my home theater.
I want one of these projectors so bad, but can't afford to make that purchase as a single dad. Lost my fiance and daughter a year ago June 8th and it's been hard getting things back on track. As sales of these take off more I'm certain the menu system will be sorted out, it's still early days and the company is still finding it's feet.
I have to be honest, I'm quite intrigued by this, I've never owned a projector and this is interesting tech. At this point though I would buy an oled but in a couple of years when the language issues have been sorted out and maybe there is a 4k version I might try one of these.

My biggest curiosity is the fan noise. Is it audible in an irritating way if I'm trying to use the projector in silence?
That's one of the urgggh of Xiaomi, their best products are mostly exclusive to their country. I have to import a lot and customs are not friendly for end users, plus yeah, that software, thankfully I'm a programmer so hacking a computer-like thing is something usual to do. Android TV would be a better interface since it fits the paradigm very well (TV Box should not differ much from Projector in terms of use, especially since the projector has fully capable OS inside).
I purchased this projector because of your first review, it should arrive this week from Gearbest! Now am feeling a little scared. Am hoping That I did the right decision? Also purchased the 150 inch screen from Silver ticket on Amazon. Love your videos am always watching them.

you should test out one of the LG short throw projectors. Don't think they are as bright but the specks still seem up there with the nicer projectors. #GottaRotate #MindSeedTV

My home theater is so yesterdays high end . 20X8 FOOT custom Rosewood wall unit , 6x8 foot 18 gain curved Aluminum projection screen ,Faroudja DVP5000 VIDEO SCALER , PIONEER HD LASERDISC PLAYER, CUSTOM ROSEWOOD PROJECTION TABLE WITH POP UP PROJECTOR LIFT, RUNCO DTV 1200 CRT PROJECTOR ,and the list goes on including a real to real tape system 😊 Is it time to upgrade , HELL NO THIS STUFF COST $$$$$$$$$$$$ AND LOTS OF IT😊

A plug adapter or a new lead is all that is required, not any sort of voltage converter. Wouldn't users of this be using an amp for their sound and therefore the audio settings in Chinese wouldn't be an issue? - regardless, you would only need to set it once. Android in Chinese might have some issues, does it have normal Android language settings? - also may not be an issue. Are you sure you cannot install the play store?

doesnt matter if I have one. Its like saying are you sure 480P is blurry if you dont have a 480P tv. I know 104ms delay is way to high for gaming. most tvs are around 30ms . to call something good for gaming you would want around 10ms

This is the forth video I've seen on this guy and tbh he already comes off like he's reading a script and doesn't test the items properly or he's just and idiot and easily pleased by things that would really bother the average everyday normal person.

If it got a TI DLP chip inside then you would expect the chip will fail in about 6 years of normal use (4 hours day). I got a Samsung LED DLP projector TV and the chip failed after that length of time.
Hey man :) i Love your work btw!! Can you be more specific when you say "a very very low latency, low Lag"? Because that is the exact oposit of entire Internet reviews i've been seeing arround. And the only thing that keeps me from buying one of these, is the "Terrible input Lag issue" as a gamer.

If they're serious about penetrating the US and European markets then they really are going to have to make an English version. Personally, I wouldn't buy one anyway as I'm prone to seeing the rainbows, sadly, but for those that aren't it's a pretty damn good projector.
