    I have a black vertical piece of electrical tape on the middle of my rear truck window. I have a piece of black vertical electrical tape running up the middle of the GENY. When I back up I line up the two pieces of tape and I almost always make a perfect line up when hitching up. Its not a big deal. I love my GenY and it gives me a great ride.

    We Absolutely love our Gen-Y Executive hitch. With the cameras on our 2021 Ram I have zero issues hitching up by myself.
    It looks like you don't have enough Pin Weight on your setup. The torsion aspect of the hitch is not moving at all in the video.
    Ours works very well on our Alliance Valor 40v13.
    Your ride quality is probably do to towing doubles.

      After the break in period it definitely sits more in the center where it should be. Glad your liking yours!

      @jam471975 Před rokem

      I think you have a good point there with towing double that's where gen-y is not really suited very well compared to the Reese Goose Box. The gen-y has basically a double a arm type suspension which only provides suspension up and down vertically, whereas the Reese Goose Box has a single Pivot Point at the front of the goose box and at this angle allows it to not only provide dampening both up-and-down and also front-to-back.
      As much as I like the fact that the Gen-Y hitch does not need air to provide dampening but the the design of the Reese GooseBox allows it to provide dampening in both vertical and horizontal directions.

    Great video. Thanks for the info. I was looking at going from my Pullrite Superglide to a GenY, but I think will look for an airbag hitch instead. Take Care.

    The easiest way to swap the bin box on a 5er is to connect the pin box to the truck hitch and then back the truck up to the trailer. Then you only have to lift the hitch a bit. Might have to jiggle the truck a bit but once you have a couple bolts into the pin box you can disconnect the hitch from the truck and more it at will.
    Ask me... I've swapped a few pin boxes.

    • @FindingLifesAdventure
      @FindingLifesAdventure  Před rokem

      That sounds like a good way to do it too! Might need to remember that one in the future!

    The 20K Reese is one of the best goosebox hitch there is. It works best with a 8 foot bed or what you have. Of course a quick conversation with Reese about the weight of your unit would be wise. Your thoughts on the GenY have been echoed by others. Good luck.

    I just got a Gen-Y and just put 1,800 miles on it. Imo it rode better than the pin box. I have zero chucking as well. Not sure how you all do since it's coupled to a ball🤔. Another thing if anyone is coming from pulling a gooseneck. It's not bad at all to hook up. You have to be a little more accurate. Because the 2 jack stands but it's not bad. I'm glad I switched.

  • @jsmitty730

    So I drive semi trucks and one helpful tool I always carry with me is called a j hook. Helps to reach between the trailer and the tandems to pull the 5th wheel handle. With the auto latch cable having an eye on the end you could use the j hook to pull the cable so you don’t have to strain yourself or use 2 people to disconnect. You can find them at any truck stop. Just a thought. Love the content

    • @FindingLifesAdventure
      @FindingLifesAdventure  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah when I do it alone I typically use the app on my phone to run the jacks, but yea the j hook is a good idea!

    I was thinking about switching over to a gooseneck. I’m glad you put this out. The new Chevy puck system has such a small footprint that I wouldn’t gain much from a ball. I’m hoping I’m at 20,000 riding down the road, but I’m scared to put the rig on a cat scale. With a 2100 pound car, and all the stuff we carry for 3 people and 3 pets, who knows?
    I did actually rub the bottom of the camper on my tailgate once in Missouri, but I didn’t have the hitch all the way up as high as it would go. I fixed that next stop.
    I need to figure out bikes. Right now ours are strapped down on my bed when we move. I’m thinking about a roof rack or a front receiver hitch. I can’t seem to find a receiver for the back of our Alliance wide body frame.

      We looked at those, unfortunately when we were looking the biggest one they had was 16k. Or maybe they had just come out with the 20k. The gen-y is 25k if I remember correctly. And our trailer is right around 21k.

    Just found you guys thanks for your honest review of this hitch. FYI Grand Design will not honor their warranty if you use any GenY product fifth wheel or Gooseneck. I found this out from my GD dealership tech. while I was looking at a 320G toy hauler and Solitude 376RD.

    Interesting feed Blackmon the Gen-Y pin box, have a Mobile Suite with a Morryde pin box and not happy with it, to much movement (chucking back and forth) I also have a Hensley BD5 fifth wheel which definitely takes care of the jarring effects going down the road.
