Can someone tell me what are symptoms of menieres? Is it possible to have chronic TINNITUS with menieres? I have had brain scans neck scans blood tests and all good yet this noise in my ears has been 24/7 for 20 months. Apparently I had mechanical blockage but this thing has not stopped. Could it be lingering from blockage? Doctors are just useless.

It took me at least 8 months to reduce the sound and after 16 months I hardly hear it except in the morning or evening when I am tired. The improvements are very slow but constant with some negative peaks every now and then but now I live almost in silence, believe me!
It all started with a stress problem with hyperacusis and strong tinnitus it was tough but ultimately through a holistic approach (meditation, curing in food and physical activity) and initially also the use of many sound maskers on yt. To date I can say that I came out of this nightmare and I am proud of it.

If your tinnitus is stress related, your best bet is an anti-inflammatory diet, turmeric, anti-stress supplements like lemon balm tea, gaba, ashagwanda, socializing, physical activity, good sleep, meditation. I have had it for, I think, three years now. It woke me up with a new layer of ringing last night. I wish I could go back in time and make different choices. I can’t, though, so I’ll be looking for the referral my PCP gave me so I can set an appointment with a pro and get this checked out finally. I hope the same thing that I hoped when it first happened… that the ringing will stop and leave my hearing the way it was before it started (just fine). It’s like a noisy, obnoxious roommate. Anyone new to tinnitus - I can't stress enough to please avoid the negative clips/ videos and comments. Just do not click on them.
In my experience, positive thinking and worrying less is half, if not thr majority, of the battle.
It's really hard at first to be positive, especially if it bothers your sleep or everyday life. But I can't tell you how far a positive attitude will take you.
Just don't even glance for a second at any negativity. It will cripple you. And I know that because I did it myself and it set me back.

I can't speak for you of course, because eyour experience is your own. But for me, it just keeps improving all the time. When I've seen audiologists, they all tell me that the vast majority of cases improve with time.
Stay strong and avoid the videos if you can. I know it feels empowering to do the research, but even watching positive stuff still means that you're thinking about it etc. It's hard, but just try and find things that calm you down and distract you. You can get habituated to it, but that doesn't mean the condition is not there. Personally, my tinnitus was caused by ETB and ETB itself was caused by a deviated septum which changed the pressure on my ears. The moment I fixed my septum, tinnitus started slowly reducing, but it's still there. The condition can be permanent and it's important we find a cure because not everyone can get used to it.

My tinnitus is a lot better now(as reduced in volume and the tinnitus is a lot smoother), and I still get occasional spikes if around loud sounds from 87+ db, some worse then others, but I remember very clearly the way my tinnitus was when it first started. It was extremely loud and the sound was jumping around as in a bunch of flickers (thousands per second) as it seemed. The only weapon against it was time, calming down and waiting day in day out, getting good sun, listening to soft music on external speakers in a low volume, and sleeping well. I do believe that intermittent fasting daily over a long period time helps as well. My tinnitus was caused by a loud burst of sound from a pair of earphones connected to my phone. I don't like the term habituation because it implies the person got used to the sound and is now able to accept it. The reality seems though that some healing happens and the sound actually reduces, which then helps to calm the person down. I remember the way my tinnitus used to be and it would be difficult to habituate to its original form. From my experience maskers like frequencies, pink noise, etc. from sound speakers change the tone of tinnitus and perhaps alter it maybe making you think your getting better, but actually prolong and make tinnitus worse in the long run. Only natural sounds, like being outside, listening to the weather, being by a lake or a river, a quite or not loud fan at home, can help, that's why I advise against maskers in general. Wishing everyone gets better with this condition. All in all, I really thank Ben for his commitment to help with his tinnitus knowledge. peace and love

      @hm-vg5bw Před 2 lety

@@vicvic1892 it took almost 2 years for real improvement. Also for some reason the tinnitus would spike to really loud levels before any improvements. It would become really loud and hissy then drop, then hissy again and drop. This cycle continues and repeats if I get loud sound exposure. My advice is to work on being your best self, take care of yourself and sleep well. Travel to different places, countries if you can afford to as new environments seem to affect it somehow. Distract yourself as much as you can from it. Also get good sun light as a natural source of vitamin d and do strength and resistance exercise. Avoid junk food, sugar, etc The volume will go down at it's own pace, you can't force anything here, and will possibly take months before you see improvement but you have to start somewhere and power through the spikes.

Right now, get your anxiety under control, and keep busy as time healing it is your best friend. Like for myself i had tinnitus before but it went almost to zero the last years. Since april i have it again due to stress, panic or omicron. Dont know really the main cause. Would u recomend people to take a prednison course? Or dexamethason??
I dont want to worsen the level of tinnitus i have know, because prednison could have side effects like tinnitus. But i am thinking of taking a 7 days prednison course.

Hi Dr Ben. I have one question.
I got my hissing/ringing along with very high levels of anxiety, grief and stress which I am currently dealing with, and mine just comes and goes. It can stay for 7 days and be gone for 3, and so on.
I can kinda locate and almost "feel" where the sound comes from, and I'm pretty sure it's tension from my jaw, ears, neck and back of head creating the hissing/ringing from the back of my head.
Some days it just appears for a couple of seconds now and again, and I can actually adjust my head so it goes away, other times it just stays for multiple days.
I'm no expert, but my logic says that once this stressful period is over and the tensions fade away, so would the hissing/ringing.
    What do you think? :)

Hello Dan. I’m not an audiologist; however, I developed similar tinnitus in October 22 when my PTSD got triggered. I was waking up clenching my teeth, I had cervico-genic headaches, and horrible tinnitus. I stumbled onto a sub specialty of physical therapy called manual physical therapy and it has been life changing, in conjunction with CBT and EMDR with a licensed counselor. The manual physical therapy is a heavy hands on treatment (in my case) of my upper back, neck muscles, occipital muscles. Treatment can also include dry needling to reduce the trigger points in the muscle spasm. To find a specialist in manual physical therapy, go to aaompt.org. The will not claim cures for tinnitus, but in my case the treatment of my muscle spasms and clenching of my jaw has reduced my tinnitus on most days by 90 percent. Counseling has also helped stop the nightmares in which I re-experienced life threatening situations. Best wishes to you.

    • @treblehealth

No. Tinnitus volume is not related to the degree of hearing loss. Tinnitus volume is a subjective value. Someone can have completely normal hearing and extremely loud tinnitus or severe hearing loss and a very faint perception of tinnitus.

For MOST people who have had it for a while, it is absolutely permanent. Habituation is just managing it, which is fine. If you have recently developed it, just know you will learn to cope with it but you need to accept you will always hear the noise. Beware the hucksters making bank off of your misery.

    • @TT-df9hp
