- The 2024 elections is shaping up to be a hotly contested one, both in the Western Cape and South Africa. Over the course of the last decade, several new parties that have formed as well as the introduction of independent candidates who will contest the elections in 2024.
Will these new political parties and independents make their way into parliament after the elections?
Lester Kiewit hosted an election debate in the lead up to the 29 May polls, featuring independent candidate Zackie Achmat, FF+ representative Peter Marais, NCC president Fadiel Adams, Rise Mzanzi's Axolile Notywala and Action SA's Angela Sobey.
This debate took place on 3 April 2024.

I’m voting Organic Humanity Movement (OHM) because they’re the only party promoting an entire new political system. Putting and end to political parties and funding by corporations & wealthy individuals which will promote independent candidates and allow the electorate to vote directly for candidates all the way up to the president. MK is not a feature in the Western Cape. It may have a fair share of popular support in KZN and GP but not here.

Why not set up an agreement annexture that what is in your manifesto must be adhered to fully by the end of your term or face judicially .
