    Thanks for your time to help us fellow boaters!! I have a question if optimax is beeping it's a 150 08 by the way.... with only 75hrs yeah 75hrs!!! The break in procedure was 30 I think? My Mother passed and didn't have spirits to fish so it did set up so I had a master mechanic change plugs get a new key (yep) lost key drain old gas new gas lines anything the only one touching it Lol.. would he be able to tell if motor is bad like gas in spark plugs or gas pumps or pump ECT.. Excuse my knowledge on motors I just like to fish leave issues to professionals I am taking it to Cabela's it was bought at bass pro shop they have joined forces guess he would not put sensor on if my complaints is beeping?? Kudos on videos and helping much appreciated!! Don't want to go in blind and get the ole riming out Lol.. Thanks again any advice will be appreciated.. Be Blessed

    I recently got a 02 wakesetter which I’m pretty sure is the boat in the video. If my oil pressure gauge is pegged at 0 when the boat is operating but no alarm is sounding do you think it’s the same part you replaced? When I first turn the boat on it flickers making me think it’s getting a signal, just not a correct signal. Really like the videos and any advice helps.

    Excellent video. I have a 2003 Honda 200 outboard on my boat. Started it up after sitting in the driveway for 6mos. and it ran fine for about 6min. Oil pressure alarm went off. Turned off motor, checked dip stick and it indicated it was full. Waited about 5min., started it up again and it ran fine for about 2.5min., before the alarm went off again. Any ideas or suggestions...besides changing the oil? Thanks.

    This is actually the oil pressure sending unit for your dash gauge. The sensor is the smaller electrical unit which shuts off the electric fuel pump or kills the ignition in case of no oil pressure.

    I might have a similar problem with my boat (Mercruiser 350 MAG MPI) The oil pressure is reading about 60psi idle and above 80psi at 3000rpm. The gauge on the dash is analog 33-240 ohm system. I think this engine has 2 sensors, one analog for older analog gauges and digital to be used by PCM and further down the CAN bus. On which side of the engine is this one located?

  • @johnmoorhousedecorated-nam899

    pressure (erratic) bottoms out goes to proper pressure when you raise idle sometimes higher .. I noticed on crusader engines 8.1 you have a switch and a sender.. confused

    • @fixitwithjake
      @fixitwithjake  Před 4 lety

      It would be my guess: that is a sensors that is starting to fail. They are so cheap, I would swap it out and see if it solves the issue. Also, check the wiring to and from it. My boat has low pressure at idle but reaches normal under a slight load. That throws off some people too....

I want to test that oil pressure switch as well so thank you for the readings and video. I assume this would be the same part for her boat? It has the Monsoon 340 engine.

      I know im a bit late but if someone has the same question a bad oil pressure sender the smaller one of the both oil pressure sensors could prevent spark or the fuel pump to pump fuel it is a safety feature so that the engine wont turn on if it doesnt have oil pressure

    I have a 2003 Larson with a Penta GXI 5.0 motor, and I recently changed the impeller because it was Really bad, it made my engine run hot. I noticed that my oil pressure gauge would go all the way into the red the more that I celerate. is that a sensor issue or oil pump issue?

    • @fixitwithjake
      @fixitwithjake  Před rokem +1

      If the new impeller made your engine “run hot” like you said, I’d start there. A good impeller is critical to engine cooling. They are made of rubber and can fail at anytime. And there’s some aftermarket ones that don’t last and aren’t quality. Stick with name brands for impellers if you haven’t already.

    • @wc75227
      @wc75227 Před rokem +1

      @@fixitwithjake thanks for replying to my comment Jake, but I think you misunderstood. The old impeller was really bad, so I changed it with a new one, that’s working fine, but for some reason every time I accelerate the boat the oil pressure gauge will go into the red.
      That was my question what is causing that

    • @fixitwithjake
      @fixitwithjake  Před rokem

      Ahhh I see. I wish I could tell you but I’m not quite sure. I’d join some Facebook groups for that boat and see if people know on there??? Also, check the sea strainer and heater exchanger. Sometimes the old bits of rubber from the bad impeller beak off and can create a small blockage. You won’t notice it at idle. But when it tried to push more water through at higher rpm it will be restricted and cause the engine to run hot. Good luck!

      I don’t know what exact engine you have. But a lot of these wake boats use a Chevy 350 engine. When the engine is running, the oil pressure gauge should read between 25 and 65 PSI.
