I couldn't imagine either..that's what I've been thinking about the last few days...AND how those little kids felt in their last moments 😭😭😭
I have been thinking about these babies, the same age as my Izzy. My heart is broken 😞
Or at least let you go in since they wouldn't.
I couldn't imagine being asked as a parent for a DNA sample so they can identify if my child was one of the victims. Watching the parents waiting for the list of children who were murdered was heart wrenching because it took quite a while for the complete list to be done. And when they did see their child's name on the list ......you saw their heart just sink and the sheer devastation set in and your heart just broke for them and you cried with them. So much promise and so many hopes and so many dreams.... shattered by bullets from a self centered evil little punk.
That's 19 family's who won't celebrate anymore of that child's birthdays. 19 High School Proms that won't happen. 19 High School Graduations that won't happen. 19 first dates that won't happen. 19 College graduations that won't happen. 19 Marriages that won't happen. 19 baby showers that won't happen. 19 + babies that won't be added blessings to the family.....2 women whose children won't get to hug their mom anymore....and with all their life joys to come....it will be bittersweet because she's not there....a husband who won't get to hold his wife anymore.....and another set of children who are missing both of their parents and all their life joys will be extra difficult.....a life time of joy......all gone.....shattered in just a matter of minutes. ....sigh.....😞😢
Hug your babies tight......whether tiny or full grown....and always make your last words to them..." I love you"....earlier in the day they had an awards ceremony and the parents got to see their babies reach another milestone in their education. And the kids just beamed holding up their certificates and awards. And all the hugs and kisses and "I love you's" that came afterwards in abundance......and i know if they had only known it would the last time they would see them alive.... they would have wished that time to crawl.
And only a few hours later ......
I put the children pictures and their names and the two teachers on my FB page. But i refuse to post his picture or name because he doesn't deserve one minute of recognition.

I can’t imagine being a human not rushing in to do ANYTHING other than SIT THERE LIKE A DUMNARSE. Get out of here. NONE of their excuses could ever come close. What a bunch of literal FREAKS. That’s someone coming from a feeding group that is littered with police and rangers, all marines that I served with before being medically discharged. NONE would have come close to this literal SH%T.

I thought the same about him looking similar to Ramirez..a lot of times it seems like you really can tell by that black, dead stare. It's like once you recognize that look in someone's eyes, you know to go far, far away from that person. The 'evil' lurks within them.

This is my community and the sadness is smothering. We are an agricultural community and it’s just unthinkable that this could happen. Heck, we usually don’t lock our doors. Wonderful people. This makes all the other school shootings come to life for me. Thanks for the respectful discussion. I wish that Salvador Ramos had received help too. 😰
It begs the question, why wasn't he receiving help? There were ample opportunities to see he needed it. The adults in his life failed the community. I hate to say it, but people need to get on the ball when their kids are exhibiting anger management issues and seek professional psychological help, not just wait for them to grow out of it. Now their family is liable for the suffering of an entire community.
I'm definitely more understanding in cases where they were trying and the kid is in therapy and on medication. Though, there are ignorant people who will blame the medication rather than the reasons the person needed it to begin with.
Oh my God, you have no idea how many of us Are in mourning for your community. I’m still crying. Please accept my condolences and let the people of Uvalde know how many millions of us are praying and mourning with you. We know our care and concerns will never change the outcome of this tragedy, but we are here for all of you. I am so so sorry.

I live in San Antonio and have some friends that live in Uvalde. This was so horrific. I hesitated sending my son to school the next day. So very sad.
He had a job at a fast food restaurant. Linda, how did he have the over $4000.00 to buy his 2 rifles and 375 rounds of ammo?
And where was the security guard who was Mia? And why was he Mia?
And why did the police stay outside and allow him nearly two hours in the school, unimpeded?

Imagine being trained, well equipped, and prepared for THIS INSTANCE EXACTLY. Then NOT going in. NOT doing everything you could to do what you are paid for. NOT being human enough to seek those babies out to save them. I can’t fathom. As a marine who’s been medically retired for both femurs breaking in an accident, I’d have been in there doing WHATEVER THE LITERAL HELL I COULD. My legs GO NUMB AND GIVE OUT randomly, AND I WOULD BE IN THERE NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I’m absolutely speechless. SPEECHLESS. 2 border patrol officers went in against orders. They are heroes but it was a little late unfortunately 😭
Those cops are cowards, they should of went in and shut that crap down and stopped the threat, PERIOD!!!!!
The local police didn't have the equipment to bust through, they were taking fire and shooter barricaded the door and would shoot when they tried to enter. Not much they can do. I don't fault the police. Small towns like Uvalde don't have SWAT teams.

I did my student teaching at Uvalde High School. This hits very close to home. It’s a tight knit community where everyone knows everyone. So tragic.
I was still a teenager when the shooting occurred at Columbine HS.
That is the first school shooting I remember.

The Columbine shootings were a complete shock.

I don't know how the laws apply in Texas but I'd rather send my child to a school where school shooters know the teachers/admin are permitted to carry firearms than send my child to a school where school shooters know the teachers/admin are not permitted to carry firearms and everyone's a sitting duck.
There are 27 states that permit teachers/admin to carry firearms. I'd want my child's school to have the ability to stop a school shooter in their tracks before they mow everyone down in sight. I do not want the bad people to have all the power.

I’m a grandparent raising some of my grandkids. They are in elementary school. My heart breaks and I’m so sadden . I’m so scared for my grandkids safety being in school. There has been so many different stories on how the police handled it that I’m so angry that these children should not have died.
As a mom/human, this is heartbreaking 💔 as the mom of a kiddo that is in 4th grade, it hits a little harder 😭 praying for the innocent babies, and their families 💙💙💙

I've been bawling for 3 days now. I have a 4th grader too.My pain is nothing compared to those parents that lost their babies nor the parents of the children traumatized.... but this hits hard. Sending love to all who are feeling pain.

I work in an elementary school office. I am the person who mainly buzzes people in. This has me devastated. We do so much to ensure students are safe and you wouldn’t believe how many parents are so oblivious to the dangers. We deal with many angry parents who are offended that we ask for ID before they sign them out, or that they think they can just send some random person to pick their child up without letting us know. Or that we question who they are when outside the locked front doors. I just had a mom who signed out her son and she left and held the door open for a solicitor who should not have been allowed in. They were innocent but if they rang the bell i would not have let them in but this parent let them in. Just saying it’s not easy. We try to put safety measures in but not all parents work with us.

I’m from the UK I really do not understand how easy it is to buy a gun in the USA particularly a teenager surely the gun laws need to be changed . This is so shocking these poor families my heart and prayers are with them
They do need to be changed, but our politicians have sold their souls to the gun lobby. 90 percent of US Citizens want bans on these types of weapons, but the Republican politicians in this country block any kind of legislation from being passed. There were two bills on universal back ground checks passed in the House last year and they both have stalled in the 50/50 Senate where we need at least 10 Republicans (a 60/40 vote) to pass the legislation. So it is stalled in the Senate, because republicans are beholden to the gun lobby for campaign donations. So tragically they care more about money and power than they do our children. The Governor of Texas and Texas' US Senator Ted Cruz (who always votes no on gun legislation) are attending and speaking at the National Rifle Associations (NRA) convention this weekend. Even after 19 children and 2 teachers were slaughtered in their state this week. It is sickening and disgusting!!!!!

I'm so heartbroken for these families, I have a 2nd grader and worry so much about these school shootings, but there seems to be more to this. I want to do further research because I heard these guns alone were $5000 a piece. Did he have help?
The guns were not 5k a piece. Maybe 2k tops, and the truck was an older model probably not bought by him but a gift or “hand me down”. Still, on a Wendy’s minimum wage job it would’ve taken him a while to save up for the guns, ammo, vest, etc.

He was such a coward. He took the lives of innocent children. In case you don't know, Linda, an 18 year old can legally buy automatic weapons in Texas but, they can't buy a handgun. It makes no sense.
Nobody can buy an automatic weapon in America without a special firearms license, but you are right about the handgun at 21 and then at 18 you can buy rifles (which include the AR-15 assault style rifle, they are semi-automatic but not fully automatic, still a VERY capable weapon)
Semi auto: You have to pull the trigger for every shot. You are able to purchase with background checks and in most states have to wait 3 days before you can get the weapon.
Fully auto, point and spray. No one can just walk into a gun store and buy these. Even with background checks. There is a lot of red tape to get through first.

The shooter came from a nice Christian family and they want to keep the guy who ordered the Stand Down. Plus they just had an active shooter drill at the school last week. Local Authorities lied to State Officials about what happened.
Salvador's mother failed her son! Those babies and teachers are dead because that mom wasn't vigilant and involved, nor did she help her child. She was sharing her life with a new man instead of supporting and loving her boy, she had no trouble shipping him off to the grandparents. Rest in peace to the innocent victims 🙏🕊️🌈

Is it true that the police went in to save their own kids but didn't bother saving any others?
I’m not 100% sure of that detail, but I have seen witnesses say that. I saw one of the officers on tv say they didn’t go in right away because they might have been shot. It’s disgusting they cuffed and tazed parents to stop them from going in themselves as they waited over 40 minutes to go in, all the while receiving 911 calls every couple of minutes. Those officers are cowards.

It’s bizarre to hear people saying that gun laws wouldn’t have changed anything. Why didn’t he do this back in September when he begged his sister to get him a gun? He waited until he could legally buy one. Why can 18 year olds buy guns but can’t buy alcohol or tobacco?! Just ridiculous.

we need gun control. anyone trying to buy a gun should be made to go throughout a full psych evaluation to obtain said gun, a worldwide background check, and yearly psych eval, fingerprint, etc every year to prevent this

It is our right to protect ourselves. Imagine if the teacher was armed, this would have been a different outcome. Imagine if the police didn't wait 45 minutes to go in and help those poor kids.

If you look my comment replied to that comment..... I said nothing to you. Your comment about age though is irrelevant who's to say if you push the age to 21, he wouldn't have done it at 21? Then what are you doing to push the age to? Mental health is a bigger issue that everyone ignores and goes straight to "gun control". His parents knew he had issue and yet let him have control of a weapon? That's the issue right there.

We buried our daughter last month, although it wasn't from a tragedy like this, we know how these parents are feeling. Parents are supposed to go first, knowing these precious little souls are with Jesus is the only consolation there is. So much mental illness out there, they can find anything online, they want to feel important so they kill children? Sick.

This is so heartbreaking knowing 19 kids and their 2 teachers are gone💔. It was supposed to be a fun day at the end of the school year. I'm thinking of those kids behind the table cloth calling 911 for help every few mins. That help came to late for many and think of the nightmares of surviving this that the children will be going through💔. Why did LE not storm that room. The shooter was in there for quite awhile imo🤔. Why did some other teacher have that door leading outside propped open when it was supposed to be locked. So many questions. The press conference was a joke today. It was just a shouting match. Yes please do it deep dive on the time line Linda. My thoughts and prayers go out to all these grieving families and to the injured🙏❤️🩹. I'm so sorry for your loss. The world mourns along side of you💖.

This was a senseless crime, Grandma is right, why assault guns at 18 year's of age? First step would be to change that detail, second who needs any assault weapons? System is so faulty and broken. How about secured schools too if things don't get done fast enough? Thanks for the update Linda!

Since the assault weapon ban was left to expire in 2005 or 2006, mass shootings have gone up over 400%.
I wish the ban would be reinstated, too. At the very least they could make them harder to acquire. This 18 yr old was able to get weapons so quickly and easily.

One thing I would add, it was not his truck. It was in his grandfather's name and was uses by his grandmother. Oh some of his friends or acquaintances have said he was abusive to animals. Another red flag, huh? And his grandfather said he didn't have a driver's license and didn't know how to drive.(guess he watched others)

Info came out on another channel that the police did nothing to help. Three border agents went in & took him out and one was shot in the head, luckily only grazing his scalp. Saw a photo.

East Idaho News had a press release given by (I think) a Texas Ranger who is investigating what happened. He gave a brief timeline, but it was disjointed, and I think you will be able to make it clearer.

He should never have been able to get into the school. There are no words to express how sad and brokenhearted I am. And I am very angry that such evil had to take the lives of completely innocent children and their teachers.
It's wrong. It keeps looping through my mind how I wish his life ended when he crashed. Seeing those beautiful faces and then seeing the devastation has broken my heart. I feel angry and broken and this whole thing is so wrong.

In Scotland we changed our laws decades ago after a school shooting plus school’s are locked so nobody can just walk in . Really , really sad that many children and a teacher lost their lives when they should have been safe .

However, I live in the area and how the gunman (I refuse to call him by his name out of respect for the victims) bought the guns with no ID, he had no drivers license, he doesn’t know how to drive. The guns were simply purchased with his birth certificate and his school ID. He did actually go in for mentally health treatment at age 12 or 13. The gunman had been sending group messages of 4-5 friends messages like “10 days” and someone asked if he was going to “shoot up a school” and the gunman responded “don’t be stupid. Wait and see.”. We have got to get better gun laws, ESPECIALLY in the state of Texas! He bought two automatic guns with thousands of rounds of ammo….4 days after the shooting at Buffalo! The gun store could have also flagged it but their is no laws.
He was angry at his gma about school but also that she was going to removed the mom from the home she owned. In the small town a lot of the kids would get into shinanigans by egging and toilet papering peoples houses. But he always took it way too far.
The back door was accidentally left open by a teacher because she forgot her cell phone for 6 minutes, it was open and she was in the parking lot. The police didn’t go in for an hour because the chief of police looked at it as a standoff versus active shooting even though they could hear it. One mother got handcuffed because she was so angry they weren’t doing anything! Two fathers got pepper sprayed because they too were angrily pleading for action. Sad!
Everything was handled wrong from the beginning.

Not sad, criminal negligence. Teacher who propped the door open and the cops that didn’t stop him before he got to the school. They already knew he shot his grandmother in the face, stole her truck, and reportedly said he was on his way to shoot up the school. They could have shot him down before he made it to the door.

We as parents need to teach our children to speak up if they have a friend talking cryptic like this…we as a nation need to vote in government that will listen to 89% of the nation asking for stricter gun laws…so many things. I know that the teacher did not mean any harm, she will live with that decision for the rest of her life. The bitter truth is evil will not stop and he would have found another way in possibly killing many more. Sounds like there was ample warning he was having some major psychological issues. Why wasn't he in a residential treatment center, or at least seeing a psychologist? There are plenty of programs for low income people. There's no excuse! The adults in his life are to blame given that he wasn't even receiving help.
LOL, read some of the responses from the mom and the dad who was never around. The mom, who couldn't be bothered to raise her son, much less with any morals, the dad couldn't be bothered to be around for the son, the grandfather is a convicted felon, and so on and so forth. Moves in with the grandparents, quits school, is going around town shooting people with pellet guns and egging cars...do you get the picture now? The ISSUE is lack of parenting, lack of caring, and continuing to breed these kids with absolutely no intention of actually parenting and guiding them. Sadly, it's way too easy to get pregnant and have kids...that we, the taxpayers, get to raise from birth until death. There are literally millions of these type of kids out there, just blind luck they don't go on killing sprees, but a small percentage always will. Again, READ the interviews from the "parents" and maybe you'll understand. Your comments is very naive, you think that everyone has caring parents and family...they sure don't.
