- this will probably be my last video before fontaine! can't believe it's coming so soon
this does not include the "Greater Lord Rukkhadevata" (who?) leitmotif or the Sanctuary of Surasthana/"King Deshret" leitmotif. i might do that in the future but i enjoy the Dance of Sabzeruz, Travail, and Swirls motifs more.
this is a goodbye and tribute to my favorite region. Sumeru really raised the bar for story, music, gameplay, exploration, lore, it added so many improvements to Genshin.
listening to this music has gotten me through some rough times and i never thought i would be in the position to make content about it (not in the sense that i'm qualified, but that it's weird to think i'd find the time and motivation to do this). funny how that works.
once again, i don't have any background in music (i'm just someone who really loves Genshin's OST) so feel free to correct me or add new songs to the comments!

Sumeru OSTs were absolutely god-tier. I love them so much, actually it's still my fav region OST-wise! Also it feels so great that Sumeru OSTs have been getting the appreciation it deserves.
The subtitles make these videos feel like they have voiced commentary and i pay close attention to them ❤

i really like that interpretation of the Tatarasuna and Swirls motif similarities, that's some insane foresight by Hoyo-Mix! Can't wait to see what other hidden shared melodies they have.

Ohwow its Reitsuna from that bgm channel lol I've played Fontaine battle theme on repeat these pasts few days, quite a breather from the tribal vibe after Inazuma and Sumeru though I still prefer those (here's hoping there'll be more intense percussion at Natlan)

I quit genshin during the childe/xinyan event all the way back in inazuma and came back during 3.7/3.8 with all of sumeru to explore.
Some real meat and potatos mhy gave us. Absolutely fantastic fucking region. The music is has so much soul its amazing. Im going to just play the game to hear future music, gacha mechanic's be damned.

Your interpretation of the first motif broke me. Took me back to the story of Dunyazard and her slow deterioriation to a mere husk of her past self. It's heartbreaking. Thank you for making us reexperience such emotional event. Nowadays life's quite stale if you know what I mean.

this was such a cool video! the commentary so fun to read along with, and the progress bar and travellers were really helpful! its easy to tell how much effort they put into the sumeru ost (especially in the live performance), and it definitely tied with liyue for my favorite region ost :) its hard to beat the erhu songs lol

Actually I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I notice there like a sumeru gods themes? The melody that shows up in nahida Sanctuary, nilous teaser towards the end, first few seconds of nilous demo, inebriation of Raghu-e-nilou (nilou public performance cutscene), early part of the elezar lore cutscene, and fresh breeze of dawn (sumeru city’s dawn theme). These are the places i remember hearing it. At first i though it was a goddess of flower thing bc of its association with nilou (alongside the sabzerus festival theme) but it also appears for other things related to the gods. I’m pretty sure this is a separate leitmotif?
i might consider doing it during a sumeru festival patch

I wasnt super into sumeru because I've been playing since 1.2 and need to take break to avoid burnout, plus I was super busy at the time and didn't really sink time into exploring. Now I wanna go back and explore! I think I could actually so the aranara quest lol

i think the theme that plays during Nilou's part in King Deshret and the Three Magi is Nilou's theme, not the Sabzeruz dance (but i might be wrong?)

6:50 that's a tanpura or tambura, an Indian classical instrument. Loving the leitmotif videos, and would like to know your opinion on Fontaine's ost! I enjoy it a lot but still think Sumeru just hit different (that's probably my Indian bias talking lol)

im loving Fontaine's OST, it surprises me how different it feels from Mondstadt. The underwater music paired with the swimming noises is some of the most relaxing gameplay ive ever experienced in a game
i think out of all the regions, sumeru still has the most of my favorite themes, so yea it hits different
but im excited for more Fontaine music!
