    For your first jersey, what about the oversized crop hack of the Jackson that Helen’s Closet posted recently? Or use the same principle with any t-shirt pattern. Love the Liberty lawns and I’ll be checking out what everyone else suggests!

      That's what I was wondering actually! Or even a Luna tank from Helens Closet? Could wear over a long sleeve tee in winter

    Drooling at your fabric collection!! Your floral Liberty fabric would be beautiful as an oversized shirt like the Paper Theory Olya. Also makes for easy discreet breast feeding!

      Oh I love the Olya too, and keep wanting to make a dress hack so maybe now is the time. I could add piping at the sleeve yoke seam to draw attention to it too!

    Beautiful Liberty fabric

    Your striped, very light fabric I thought might be really useful as an oversized shirt & wouldn’t matter if you wore t/shirts underneath. The white fabric would be great as a blouse or loose top. Love the ideas of the trousers. Your certainly not the only one holding onto certain fabrics - I do that but basically because my confidence in my sewing has vanished. Hopefully will come back soon. Good luck.❤

      It'd be gorgeous as an oversized shirt, i wonder if I have enough to make both a shirt and a skirt, although I'd probably not wear them together!

    i have soooo many fabrics that I am saving for THAT DRESS (which has yet to be found or sewn).
    what dungarees would you have sewn with that black denim? I loooove that fabric!!!
    when you showed the fabric with the white background that you bought as a treat, I thought PJs. I use all my fun prints for PJs these days. and the women in space one: a lovely long and wide morning gown, imagine, in a sateen!
    good to have you back btw

      You've nailed it with that description. I feel like I've come so close so many times but not *quite* got there. I probably would have gone for the Rubys in the denim, although the elastic back might have been too bulky?

    I think the spacey telescope blue cotton would make an awesome Zadie jumpsuit!

      @TheSpeckySeamstress  Před 5 měsíci

      Oh it would! I've fallen out of love with the fit of the Zadie but maybe I'll reinvestigate post pregnancy!

    My favourite thing to make with Tana Lawn is shirts and tops. Smaller pieces make a great TATB Charlie, with a contrasting yoke and cuffs. Great for warm weather. For the very beautiful first fabric, what about a tunic? Great to wear over leggings or trousers and wouldn't break up the pattern. Or for nursing, an oversized shirt that can be worn on its own in summer or layered in cooler seasons.
    The Naya Tee would work well with your first fabric.
    I don't think the zero waist pattern would work with your spotty denim - it's too structured for all those pleats.
    I think the modal rayon would be best as a simple dress and the cream one would be a lovely Sycamore. The voile is great and I think will make a fab skirt.
    Happy sewing! 😊

      I definitely am taken by the idea of the Sycamore. Some fab suggestions in there for me to work through, thanks!

    Hi Laura! I'm Dylan, we used to live in the same halls at uni, I used to follow your instagram when you started out sewing and dropped off using it ages ago. In the past couple years I've really got into sewing and you just popped into my recommendations! So good to see you around, hope you're doing well!

      Hi Dylan! What a small world! How are you getting on? Are you still local?

      @@TheSpeckySeamstressHi! I'm still local yes! My favourite of the fabrics are the splodgey black and white denim, to make some flexible sizing you could add a lacing panel on the back to be able to tighten/loosen as necessary while looking kinda cool. I've seen some on historical breeches and they should be in all trousers!

    Closet Core has a free t-shirt pattern that is boxy and cropped for your first fabric.

    Maybe you could sew tropical shirts for you and your son in your Liberty animal fabric . I know you will have fabric left ,but maybe you could make 2 different sizes for him(he grows) ? For your own canvas fabric i would vote for a jacket.

      My husband doesn't really wear patterned shirts and I'm a bit of selfish sewist really but it would be cute to make something for the smalls in some offcuts!

    Some lovely fabrics there, I can’t wait to see what you make up. Re the black/white stripe - what about the Wildflower Coquelicot skirt? I know you’ve made the circle skirt version (which I think will look good)but I know they also do the gathered waist version and as it’s adjustable it will work for for you over the coming year(s)…..?

    • @TheSpeckySeamstress
      @TheSpeckySeamstress  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Oh yes a coquelicot would be amazing in that fabric, I wonder if I have enough. I might take a look at the pattern at the weekend! I did wonder if a longer skirt might work well?

    • @Chelbyuk
      @Chelbyuk Před 5 měsíci

      I think it would look beautiful 😁😍
      If you've not quite got enough could you do the "tie" section and pockets out of another/lining fabric ? 🤞

    Hi Laura, so far I have only used Liberty for Melilot shirts. They don’t need drape and I can get them out of a small amount. Maybe you could get 2 shirts out of your bigger pieces? For your husband or your son? Or a shirt for you and sleep wear shorts? That way you would enjoy the fabric very often. Good luck with all your plans.

    • @TheSpeckySeamstress
      @TheSpeckySeamstress  Před 5 měsíci

      I keep meaning to dig the Melilot back out as I do love the versions I have. My husband doesn't wear patterned shirts, but some fancy sleep shorts would be amazing!
