Great point about the excursions. When I go on a cruise, I know a lot of people prefer 3rd party excursions. I wonder how many of those type excursion providers have a clause that they will refund you if your ship misses the port for any reason. I'm not against 3rd party excursions, but passengers need to consider the risks. Also, if anyone complains about a ship diverting course or missing ports due to safety reasons, that is just nuts.

Those of us in the Galveston area are keeping an eye on Beryl. I am writing about hurricanes and their effects on cruises in my next column.

That’s why I’m typically not cruising till late in the season or in the winter months. to hopefully avoid the tropical weather mess. Well that and work schedules are blocking me from going whenever I feel like it lol.

    Good job 🎉

Some 3rd party beach places only require a deposit to book a reservation at their resort. Once you arrive, you pay in full. If the port is missed due to hurricane you may not or may to lose the deposit. I think Paradise beach Cozumel allows you to cancel for a refund up to 8 am the day before you are scheduled to arrive. Just check the site before you book third party excursions and verify they have some sort of refund policy if you are possibly in path of bad weather.

Why am I more concerned with possible air turbulence on our flights to our cruise than itinerary changes ?
