For some reason most of his power seems to be sealed in his cane, so he might actually pack more power than Adam but he has a too obvious and vulnerable weakness. It could be part of whatever deal he made, since we know that after he came down to hell he already went and took down some of the top overlords. It was stated that no human soul should be able to have all this power, not like this at least, so he probably could have done at least more damage to Adam if he went all out right away instead of playing with him

Well, Adam wasn't supposed to be mortal at first (at least in the bible, idk what they're going for in the show). He was supposed to live in Eden forever before eating the apple, so maybe his soul isn't "mortal". That would also explain why he was in heaven despite being an asshole, he was born there and is tied to it (so is Lilith by the way, which is why she can leave hell despite technically being a sinner)
considering most angels and hell are occupied by souls they were once mortals who also did shitty stuff, if a soul can be redeemed even if they are fucking mental and already caused damage, a goodie two shoes one can also cause havoc and go to hell, love that concept honestly
Let's not forget that many were the original angels and we see references to them everywhere. Seraphs (Emily and Sera), Thrones (the angels with those eye circles) and others. We don't know for certain that Lilith has Alastor bound. In fact, the very ending of the episode calls it into question. If Lilith has been hanging out in Heaven, how would she and Alastor make a deal? As powerful as he is, Alastor still can't leave Hell.
Well, it is implied that both Alastor and Lilith went missing for 7 years. So it's possible that Alastor made a deal with Lilith for power. Hence how he became an overlord very quickly and has powers that are strong enough to almost beat Adam.

Alastor was simply outclassed. A strong overlord who's not even said to be the strongest stands no chance against Adam. The power scaling was show in full effect in this episode.

Alastor didn’t realize energy blasts were even a thing much less that they could break his microphone stick. He just thought it was a melee fight. Adam probably never had to resort to an energy blast in the 100 years Alastor has been down there to witness exterminations. This fight was epic on a scale I haven’t felt in a while. I gasped 😳 when Alastor got hit and cheered when Niffty popped up. 😆
And he wasn’t even trying (he’s too cocky, that’s why he fights without an angelic weapon and dodges with his hands behind his back. While taunting adam.)
I feel Alastor was too in the mindset of fighting another overlord tbh. He severely underestimated how dangerous Adam was being the first human and all. Still put up quite the fight and I'm excited for more to be revealed whenever season 2 arrives. WE NEED MORE THAN 8 EPISODES A SEASON!!
I'd argue that he was being quite cautious actually, you mostly see Alastor standing at a distance with Adam and only using ranged abilities for most of the fight to avoid Adam's axe but at this point Adam was more or less toying with Alastor as he could've easily ended the fight with one big ass laser

He didn't have an angelic weapon here to actually harm Adam, otherwise he had at least two spots there that would have been kill shots otherwise. Bigger form means bigger target, his best bet was long range since Adam had his ax but even if he was far away and in a bigger form Adam has his lasers

Alastor was actually doing pretty well for being just a mortal soul, he was even able to actually hurt adam with that uppercut, then his staff got broken and alastor proceeded to get wrecked.
@@AE_15x you can see lute getting hurt by the rubble falling on her, and vaggie getting a nose bleed from getting slammed onto a counter, it appears angelic weapons just make it easier to hurt them, doesn't mean they can't be hurt without them.
Adam's angelic weaponry was a direct counter to many of Alastor's skillset. If Alastor had been a *biiiit* more cunning and used an Angelic weapon to backstab Adam using his critters and shadow attack he might have had a chance or even strike a critical blow. Alas 'pride cometh before the fall' and destroying his microphone neutralized his offensive skills.
keep in mind that it took the two actual rulers of hell to take out adam, the fact alastor almost got him and only lost because adam got lucky and hit his weak spot is terrifying
Alastor managed to hit Adam multiple times, if he used an angelic weapon it would've been over pretty early tbh It's either writing or character traits nerfing him in this situation
There certainly were opportunities for him to just stab Adam with angelic weapons. But if they both started going full power for no reason Alastor gets obliterated in seconds
I am more surprised that Alastor lasted against Adam for as long as he did because he didn’t even have an angelic weapon to damage him with. He is not someone like Lucifer who once was one of heavens main angels and who can damage other angels with his bare hands.
I honestly wish this fight had lasted a bit longer, but it was awesome to see how Alastor could hold a little bit of ground until Adam eventually just up and used his power to "Defeat" Alastor. Can't wait for season two.
not really alastor and adam share one notable trait, overconfandince, alastor believed he could stop adams attacked(proven by his suprise when his microphone broke) he believed he was stronger then adam and thus believed he didnt need a holy weapon at that overconfanince almost cost alastor his live
I think part of Alastors deal is the suppression of his power. Alastor is a minimum conflict character. He knows what he wants and chooses the path of least resistance. I think at some point he accrued enough power to put him in the power rankings of a deadly sin or got really close. Then catches the attention of Lilith or the seraphs a more powerful being. Leaving two options submission or assured annihilation. The deal is just a leash. Alastor's number one goal is life, two Not to be considered prey, and three power.

By his Demeanor and him not turning into his final form at any point, he definitely didn’t think he had to try his best, but regardless, he did pretty damn well for just an overlord fighting heaven’s first man.

This fight is equivalent to a guy with a bought level 120 account with a guy with level 100 that knows all the combos, strategies, game mechanics, and best positions. Adam won the fight because of his raw power and not because of his skills, Alastor could've won if he knew just how powerful angelic power was.

I think Alastor knew exactly what he was doing and threw those tentecles(sorry for my russian) every second just to make Adam defend. Alastor knew Adam could kill him with a singe strike so Al made him uncapable of striking(not for so long but still a nice try) Adam wasnt holding back or something, he was just outmatched by Alastor's tactics for some time

I wonder if his deal is constraining his power cause he could have been much deadlier as we’ve seen his different forms that would’ve made this fight much different. He even mentions in the finale song “once I clip my wings, ill be pulling the strings” It could allude to him being connected to heaven or his deal with Lilith, a once holy person. Either way I wonder how he will get the power from his staff back.

the fact that Alastor literally was holding his own against an Adam shows how powerful he is. Though ofc Lucifer going to be the strongest due to the fact that he too is an Angel but just a fallen one, and retained his powers overall and changed into a more demonic variant. Still Alastor just practically toyed with Adam and showed that even human souls like him, that gained power and become op, can too kill angels like their nothing, Love the episode and was thoroughly hyped at the fights. RIP Sir Pentious but hey at least he went to Heaven lol.
The one who played was Adam never used his angel powers with Alastor, and if he was able to fight him it was because Adam didn't take him seriously, if he had used his lightning Alastor wouldn't last even 10 seconds

If Alastor really wanted to and take it more seriously he would have killed Adam since he was merely a human, first human, soul. And the fact that he practically danced around Adam and not taking it seriously means he could have easily killed him if he decided to. Adam got lucky with one hit but you also have to think too, Alastor had to react at a split second to avoid a fatal hit which means, if he was focused, he would have been able to toy with Adam more. Just easy to see how powerful Alastor really is. Now Lucifer is on a whole other level since he is just a fallen Seraphim. But still Adam would have entirely lost to Alastor if he decided to act seriously. And could have given his minions holy blades, whom were crawling onto Adam. He decided not to most likely because it would have been too easy. And his shadow did land a nasty hit that dazed him. Like there are many points that Alastor could have killed Adam.
He also didn’t go into his actual final form, which is the one at the end of be gone and with husk. He definitely was not going to win, but it was just a matter of how much of a fight he could put up, and he did well.

Dude, I love how Alastor used his shadow to attack Adam, I literally gave my main OC that power since I had memory, the power to fully use his and his enemy shadow to hit punches like that! Alastor should've insist on that, Adam was not expecting it and probably could've caught him off guard more like that.
I honestly loved the entire final battle... It really showed how powerful and how much of a threat Adam really was. It took a lot to defeat him (well, despite his actual fate, lmao). It also shows that Alastor is a much more tactical fighter, whereas Adam simply relied on his power. Alastor also clearly isn't at full strength, and his deal with Charlie is how he's going to get his power back. I'm sure he would've been much more of a threat to Adam if he was actually at full power I also love that Charlie is powerful, but inexperienced, which is her downfall... Though it'll lead to great development of her character, and for her future title as ruler of hell. She'll have to learn that it takes more than just peace to get things done, especially with the antagonistic forces of Heaven And I also love that Vaggie has her own arch nemesis in Lute. Damn, Hazbin is honestly such a great fucking show

If Alister used and angelic weapon from the start he could have taken advantage of Adam’s hubris and killed him. Early. He had the openings. But then we wouldn’t have Charlie stepping up, nor see the power scaling of a jacked up mortal celestial in Adam vs a fallen archangel/seraphim(Cuz 6 wings?) in Lucifer. The narrative demands for that. The fact you have an overlord, going up against a ‘special moral celestial’, with the hint that he’s possibly not even at full power because of a deal, and outplayed Adam without an angelic weapon despite the power gap, and for as long as he did; is kinda huge… Especially when the overlords shouldn’t even be as powerful as the Sins.

Alastor was simply outclassed. A strong overlord who's not even said to be the strongest stands no chance against Adam. The power scaling was show in full effect in this episode.

Adam probably never had to resort to an energy blast in the 100 years Alastor has been down there to witness exterminations. This fight was epic on a scale I haven’t felt in a while. I gasped 😳 when Alastor got hit and cheered when Niffty popped up. 😆

I'd argue that he was being quite cautious actually, you mostly see Alastor standing at a distance with Adam and only using ranged abilities for most of the fight to avoid Adam's axe but at this point Adam was more or less toying with Alastor as he could've easily ended the fight with one big ass laser

Alastor was actually doing pretty well for being just a mortal soul, he was even able to actually hurt adam with that uppercut, then his staff got broken and alastor proceeded to get wrecked.

I honestly wish this fight had lasted a bit longer, but it was awesome to see how Alastor could hold a little bit of ground until Adam eventually just up and used his power to "Defeat" Alastor. Can't wait for season two.
Although Adam won Alastor here he highlighted the main weakness of the angels which is their excessive self-confidence.

I think part of Alastors deal is the suppression of his power.
Alastor is a minimum conflict character. He knows what he wants and chooses the path of least resistance. I think at some point he accrued enough power to put him in the power rankings of a deadly sin or got really close. Then catches the attention of Lilith or the seraphs a more powerful being. Leaving two options submission or assured annihilation. The deal is just a leash. Alastor's number one goal is life, two Not to be considered prey, and three power.

I think his other forms would’ve just inhibited him here. Adam’s weapons are capable of seriously damaging and even killing Alastor if they connect, so it’s in Alastor’s best interests to be as small and agile as possible.
This fight is equivalent to a guy with a bought level 120 account with a guy with level 100 that knows all the combos, strategies, game mechanics, and best positions. Adam won the fight because of his raw power and not because of his skills, Alastor could've won if he knew just how powerful angelic power was.

Still Alastor just practically toyed with Adam and showed that even human souls like him, that gained power and become op, can too kill angels like their nothing, Love the episode and was thoroughly hyped at the fights. The one who played was Adam never used his angel powers with Alastor, and if he was able to fight him it was because Adam didn't take him seriously, if he had used his lightning Alastor wouldn't last even 10 seconds

If Alastor really wanted to and take it more seriously he would have killed Adam since he was merely a human, first human, soul. And the fact that he practically danced around Adam and not taking it seriously means he could have easily killed him if he decided to. Adam got lucky with one hit but you also have to think too, Alastor had to react at a split second to avoid a fatal hit which means, if he was focused, he would have been able to toy with Adam more. Just easy to see how powerful Alastor really is. Now Lucifer is on a whole other level since he is just a fallen Seraphim. But still Adam would have entirely lost to Alastor if he decided to act seriously. And could have given his minions holy blades, whom were crawling onto Adam. He decided not to most likely because it would have been too easy. And his shadow did land a nasty hit that dazed him. Like there are many points that Alastor could have killed Adam.
He also didn’t go into his actual final form, which is the one at the end of be gone and with husk. He definitely was not going to win, but it was just a matter of how much of a fight he could put up, and he did well.

I honestly loved the entire final battle... It really showed how powerful and how much of a threat Adam really was. It took a lot to defeat him (well, despite his actual fate, lmao). It also shows that Alastor is a much more tactical fighter, whereas Adam simply relied on his power. Alastor also clearly isn't at full strength, and his deal with Charlie is how he's going to get his power back. I'm sure he would've been much more of a threat to Adam if he was actually at full power
I also love that Charlie is powerful, but inexperienced, which is her downfall... Though it'll lead to great development of her character, and for her future title as ruler of hell. She'll have to learn that it takes more than just peace to get things done, especially with the antagonistic forces of Heaven
And I also love that Vaggie has her own arch nemesis in Lute. Damn, Hazbin is honestly such a great fucking show

The fact you have an overlord, going up against a ‘special moral celestial’, with the hint that he’s possibly not even at full power because of a deal, and outplayed Adam without an angelic weapon despite the power gap, and for as long as he did; is kinda huge… Especially when the overlords shouldn’t even be as powerful as the Sins.
