Looking for Agates in Upper Michigan Found a Few Little Ones

On this late April Day that started off with rain but cleared up was cold but made for a great day searching through hundreds of rocks looking for agates. I was alone on this little beach for most of the time I was there because of the cold temps and I loved every minute of it :) I was in Presque Isle Park in Marquette, Michigan. Was happy to have found a few agates and some really pretty pieces of Jasper !

Even when the agates are elusive you still spot the tiny agate inclusions. You really have a master's eye at this.

That first one was pretty. Wow. Finding a few with agate. That’s awesome. Interesting how so many of these share the same coloring. Then some places you go have such a variety of colors. Oh well duh on me. I just saw there are others 😂 Really awesome hunting day. You got a lot of great finds.
There was so many reddish rocks here. It was kind of crazy when I think about it. I just had one thing on my mind and that was to find some agates, lol I didn't have much luck but for a few little partial agates, but that is ok. I love being near the Lake :) Thanks much for watching😊

That seagull was around me a lot also. I think it was hungry. I watched him/her try to take a ladies chips she was eating. She freaked out and left. I love the rocks at this beach. Thanks much for watching 😊
I went up to surrender my dog on Sunday in Gwinn. After I rushed down to Marquette to the lake. I had like 10 mins to look before I headed home. I went to the break wall and there were a lot of big rocks and people down there that I couldn't move around much. I quickly looked and found one tiny agate. I was happy I found something. I can't wait until I can go up and have more time. Glad you got to spend some alone time looking.
Sorry to hear that you had to surrender your Dog 😢 10 minutes sure is not enough time to look at the rocks. Oh wow tons of people. I didn't see much for people when I went. I guess I was lucky. It is getting harder and harder to find agates now. I did look for some time. I am sure I will return again. I am sure you will also :) Thanks for watching😊

Hello Martin :) Cold water agates (snooty agates ) are found mainly in Lake Michigan. This beach is on Lake Superior. Confusing I know. If I go farther north the agates have more banding :) Thanks for watching my friend 😊
