I just picked up an old 400cc hisun 4x4 atv. That's probably what's wrong with it. The guy I bought it from changed the timing chain and never got it to work. The beauty of these videos is that you get a little insight into the problems of a particular make. I've never worked on a hisun before, but I feel my confidence building as I watch your content. I would rather be fixing stuff like this than doing most other stuff. Keep making videos. There aren't to many out there that deal with the hisun. Also if I could find parts that would be great. Mine takes this huge gas cap that fell off somewhere on the way home and I could use a new one.
You can try VMCChineseparts.com they have parts for the hisun and there are a few others out there than you and I will be rebuilding a hisun motor soon

Turns out one of the cam lobes fell off and into the engine. to be sure I took the side cover off as you did and found the bits sitting in there along with a slack oil pump chain. I'm back running now but glad I took the extra time to check.

Just bought a hisun axis 500 and 2 days later the 4WD locked up. I think the rear differential is locked too. Display shows blinking circle on the left diagram front wheels and an ‘X’ on the right diagram. I’ve tried pressing/depressing both the 2wd/4WD and differential lock buttons several times, rolling reverse/ forward up/down slopes and can’t get it to release. Steering very hard to turn. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I just picked up a Hisun 550.. head and cylinder pulled “seized piston”.. left exposed by shop. Do you have a video on pulling out the engine? Looking for some guidance on that process. Thanks!
How about a brand new hisun 550 only creating 70 psi compression while doing a compression test, valves are set and it's in time....did a leak down test and it was good!?
Can you tell me where the wire from the oil sensor/switch mounted on the side of the motor connects to Where the wire connects I’ve retired a burnt wiring harness and I’ve no idea where that wires into It’s a Hisun 800 UTV Thanks in advance
If you don't mind me asking, what's the part number of the flywheel puller you used? and what recourses do you use to find out things like that for cheap Chinese motors like these?
Late but youll need a 35mmx1.5 for 2016 under (some 2017 had 35mm some 38mm pullers and 38mmx1.5 for 2017 up . Motorcycle/atv/utv flywheel pullers now. 20-35 for them unless you want puller to use a lot then seek tool truck.
Working on a hisun 700 utv idles perfect when I put it in gear it starts to cut out. I have disconnected the park brake switch and seat belt sensor. Still does same thing
Sounds like when you put it in gear it’s putting the motor in a bind I would first check the clutches and if it Isn’t the clutches I would look into the timing and compression Let me know if that helps

I built a standalone CDI box It’s a DC CDI box that I hooked up to AA batteries that I wired in like a regular CDI box with alligator clamps and a coil that’s how I got it to fire on the bench
I have a 2012 hisun 800 utv, It was running fine and i parked it five minutes later I tried to start it and it back fires. If I keep trying t start it. it will run at hi rpm and when I idle it down it quits. Please help.
Yep...if key is sheered flywheel is no longer locked to crank in time. Most time the crank nut will come off without tools.will be loose enough to turn with fingers.If you see it jumped cam time after keyway replaced , you haven't found real cause yet keep digging.

Didn't kno if I should pull water pump first or pull off with case. U solved that. Thanku
How did you get the engine out? We have a coleman outfitter 550 and do not know the best way to get the engine out. We have to rebuild the engine.
When removing the motor did you have to remove the U joint bolt or is there a alternative way to disconnect the drive shaft from the motor?

I have a 2014 Bennche Bighorn 700 that has a bad crankshaft. Can a crankshaft be replaced or should I just junk the motor as some people have told me?

Check the valves with bluing to make sure they are not bent if not see if the half-moon key is worn

The highs and I’ve messed with has the same transmission as a grizzly 660

So either you’re timing is a little off or you have a vent valve
