    Nodes and UV mapping are the bane of my existence. I feel like I'm going to be referencing this video A LOT. Thanks, Josh. Once again, it was very much appreciated 👍

    Omg. I just searched your other video about UV's (beautiful UV's with uv square add-on) this morning, and now you've posted another video about UV's :D

    Another great vid Josh. One comment: If you symmetrize you can also choose to have the two halves share the same uv's as long as your aren't doing any custom textures to both sides. You'd get more UV bang for your buck and save half the space for better texture resolution.

    While i'm really good at unwrapping stuff, I still need a better understanding on texel density! I hope you will consider making one as I want to gain as much information as possible.

    I haven't used substance painter in a long time but from what I understand, it was pretty good at handling seams. I'm wondering in general if there's a quick workflow that could be applied to iterate on your UVs for better packing and being able to test them in substance painter to see how the material might end up looking?

    Hi @josh. Do you have any advice on dealing with Faceting issues when using smoothing groups > UE4?
    Started a low poly project to reduce resources from high poly to low poly assets. The issue I keep hitting is the low poly Normals look fine in Blender such as a rounded cup, but the normals react flat to UE4 lighting and highly visible.
    Just spent 5+ hours trying to understand this issue >.

    Marking sharp as seams and working backwards is great. But are there any add-ons that gets you even further just to save time?

  • @TheMULTIcanal
    @TheMULTIcanal Před 2 lety

    Smart unwrap is ok to use in many cases, you just have to know when and how. There are many cases when no one cares about perfect UVs and you save a lot of time.

    Looks like you're using ngons for flat surfaces, how does that work with the hole punches? And is this uv step before or after you decimate the model? Just got your weapon class so I'm sure some of that is answered there

    Where do I find the checkerboard textures I keep seeing used in every UV tutorial, but can't seem to find anywhere in blender? Looked under Madcap and Studio which is where I thought for sure to find them, but no joy.

      @YunPiaoMiaoLinWuShuang Před 2 lety

      I believe it’s under material property. First add the material to the object. There is a dot on the left of Base Color, click the dot and you will have the checker texture under Texture.

      When you have an image texture node in node editor or an empty Image Editor window, you can choose to Open an existing image OR you can choose to add a NEW image. When you add a new image, you can give it a specific resolution, and change its type from Blank (black or some other flat color) toa UV grid. There are two different grids you can choose from.
