  • Ready to dig into some new phrasal verbs? While the meanings of many phrasal verbs can be guessed because of the words they use, some are just too tricky. In this lesson we look at phrasal verbs like "dish out", "man up", and "water down" to see how they are used in everyday conversations. We will cover: size up, dish out, rat out, dig in, fill out, water down, dumb down, farm out, suck up, suck it up, man up, weigh in, light up, and beat to. After watching, take the quiz to test your understanding of the lesson. www.engvid.com/14-phrasal-ver...

Dish out isnt common in uk cafes restaurants (eatery) but is in the home when mothers dish out the food. I e. put it on the plates rather than putting it in tureens for people to help themselves.

Hi Adam - great video, I dont know whether this is a UK English thing but 'light up' can also mean to light a cigarette. And 'beat to' when used with certain words can also mean to fight someone to a certain degree (I'll give you an example) "I had a fight with John the other day and beat him to a pulp" means I beat him up very badly.
