Only 2 children were killed in israel as a result of 4,000 rockets fired indescriminately by the palestinians, not because the rockets were careful, but because the "iron dome" shot down most of the dangerous rockets. On the other hand, only 63 palestinian children were killed because israel aimed only at stategic military targets. Read the list oh hamas soldiers killed. Read the list of the targets destroyed. Each target had a specific military function and was therefor destroyed. What were hamas's targets? Some of the palestinians killed were killed by palestinian rockets which fell short, into gaza.

I didn't quite understand much of that person's message to be honest, but it's my opinion that most American Jews are Americans first and Jewish second, and therefore, they pretty much don't care about Israel. Not that they're distancing, they haven't been close in the first place. They care about themselves, their lives and successes, etc. Israel is a different country and they care about the it the same as they would about any other one outside of the US. Plus most Jews have been traditionally left leaning politically and therefore w/regards to the conflict, I wouldn't be surprised (although I don't have any evidence) that many of them would pick the Arab side--in theory. Would they actually go and help them in deed not in word? No.

How much money, time, enthusiastic community members who made aliyah, were given over to the state of Israel while our own connection to Judaism was replaced with an unquestioning adherence to Jewish nationalism. Intermarriage and liberalism are not the problem of Jewish Americans. We spent 70 years not really cultivating a lasting Jewish identity that faced the modern world. My father is not Jewish but my mother is. When she married him, her mother said she knew that my mother would marry a non-Jew. It was the height of hyprocracy considering my grandmother and grandfather gave barely any credence to their own Jewish idetity let alone my mother's. Why should my mother marry a Jew since Jewish culture didn't really matter. And now she has an Orthodox Jewish son. We are falling away from Israel because it is not a Jewish state in the best sense of that word, but in the worst sense, a European nationalist Jewish state in which the only virture is power. Maybe turning awway from Israel is the only way to save our Jewish identities.

Why are American Jews distancing themselves from Israel? There are a few reasons. One is that the American Jewish population is mostly liberal while the Israeli government is conservative, conservative in this case meaning being a lot less concerned with minority rights than American Jews are. Another is that the Orthodox set more and more policy in Israel, and that policy often targets people like most of the Jews in the US. For example, American Jews would like to have B’nai mitzvot (bar and bat mitzvahs) at the Wall, but most American Jews don’t separate by gender in synagogues. The Israeli courts have ruled that liberal Jews can use a section of the Wall on the other side of the ramp to the top (where the mosques are) for this purpose, an area out of sight from where most Jewish worship takes place, but Orthodox elements in the government have managed to delay this ruling being implemented with the goal of stopping it altogether. Another reason is that young Jews don’t have a sense of Israel’s vulnerability that older Jews do from remembering previous wars.
Right now there are two conflicts in Israel. One is in East Jerusalem and has to do with a property rights case between Arabs and Jews, a case which has engendered violence. (I don’t know much about the particulars of the case. It’s entirely possible I’d side with the Arabs on that one.) The other is in Gaza, where I support Israel completely. When someone launches missiles at your civilians, you have to stop it. Period. That this isn’t obvious to the world is rather insane, and the arguments are insane. The world looks at successful killings but not at attempted killings. Over 4,000 missiles have been launched by Hamas at Israeli civilian targets, meaning a minimum of 4,000 attempted murders, failed attempts because of Iron Dome, Israelis running for bomb shelters, and bad aim, all of which are somehow not part of the discussion. Why not? We all know that attempted murder is a crime.We also known that Israel is trying to avoid killing civilians because if they weren’t we’d be looking at casualty counts over an order of magnitude greater. If Israel wanted to kill Palestinian civilians, there wouldn’t be under 300 dead, a count which includes military deaths, in two weeks. If they wanted to kill Palestinian civilians, they could kill that many in two minutes. What do you think it takes to have air strikes that don’t kill anyone?

Well, the problem is that people are equating Likud policy with Israeli policy. And by extension gentiles equate Israeli policy with Jewish ideology.

Iran cant respond to anything, their military leader dies and their response is laughable.
