Zhou Shen's voice has improved even more over the years . You should hear him sing "Memory" " the lonley goatherd" from Super Vocal. Also listen to Dalabengba , baby , Zoobi Doobi , bilibili , the Singer 2020, "monsters" , also listen to him in "coloured black" in lets band. There are many more songs to hear . He now sings like an operatic soparano. He studied clasical singing in University in Ukraine as an operatically trained Tenor but is self taught as a soprano. Type hi name in CZcams search and get a whole list of songs. Also look in Wikipedia for his awards and other information.

He is singing a song written by the judge that turned around first. The original singer of this song is the sister of that judge many years ago. I am so touched by Zhou Shen's voice, I had tears in my eyes. His voice touched my heart and soul.

Your pronunciation of his name(Zhou Shen, 周深) is basically right, not bad at all. The first song in this video is called 欢颜，"Smiling Face" in English, which is a classical Chinese song first performed by Ms QiYu in Taiwan around 1979. Zhou Shen's covering of this song in 2014 at the age of 21 was his debut in TV. He entered and contested in a very popular Chinese musical TV program which is usually called: The voice of China. Candidates can only present their voice initially to judges in the first round of the contest while all of the 4 judges are blinded behind their chairs.
There were some stories behind Zhou Shen's debut performance. He actually was invited twice in the previous two years' program series as he had been an Internet singer and enjoyed good popularity in a closed-circle. He had never shown his face or his true identity while performing as a young amateur singer online. The first judge QiQin, who is the brother of the original singer for the song-"Smiling Face", quickly turned around the chair as he knew too well how difficult is to perform the song. The following two judges were very surprised as they initially thought the contestant was a girl. The third judge(Na Ying, female) became his tutor in the program although she chose another constant Li Wei in stead of him in the second round. However she helped him a lot during his musical career in later years. His voice and lyrical style did not fit the 4th judge, Wang Feng, who has been a very famous rock 'n' roll star in China. Wang Feng did not turn around the chair for Zhou Shen although he was also deeply impressed by the performance. Wang Feng appraised Zhou Shen highly in the second round of the contest. He was even saying publicly in another TV program show few years later that Zhou Shen was better than himself while Zhou Shen was performing two rock 'n' roll songs beyond his comfort zone.
Your previous reaction ( czcams.com/video/8wOP2XmEHV4/video.html) to “Bei Jia Er Hu Pan (贝加尔湖畔: Baikal Lake) - Li Wei and Zhou Shen” was his second appearance in the round 2 of the contest for the same TV program in 2014. It was a duet cooperated by Zhou Shen and Li Wei together, also it was a competition between them since only one of them could advance further by the rule. Zhou Shen was eliminated by the agonizing tutor/judge in this round as you may noticed in the video that both of them were flawless. 3 of them including Li Wei and the judge Ms Na Ying were crying on the live recording stage. The general audience however were hugely impressed by his performance and Charming voice. Few years later, Zhou Shen came back with an original song 大鱼-Big Fish. Zhou Shen speaking voice sounds like a 10-12 years old boy. His singing voice naturally sounds like a female high pitched voice and it is NOT nurtured or gained by training. He sings comfortably or effortlessly in high-pitched female singer's vocal ranges with various emotions. He can also tune his voice into a normal male vocal ranges which female singers usually cannot reach. He is unique.
Ahhh, that is very interesting. He is very unique indeed! Yeah, that's what it felt like to me too, that's why in my video I pointed out that he does it soo effortlessly. Like it almost seems like he doesn't have to really try but yet it comes out sounding so amazing and smooth. However I did not know that that was what his natural singing voice sounded like, I thought he worked at it and trained his vocal ability to get it to sound like that.
You may find more information via checking "Zhou Shen or 周深" as he is famous now. For Zhou Shen, singing is a hubby not a job. He sang a lot even as a young child and was the leading singer in his elementary school's choir. He loves singing and practices a lot except for the junior middle schools years. He was then teased and mocked frequently because he maintained the childlike voice while his fellow pupils were changing. He felt humiliation therefore tended to hide his voice and did not sing at all in these years. He started sing again in high school and began to perform online singing as well. After graduated from high school, he entered a Ukraine college in 2011(2012?) to study dentistry as his parents wished. One year later, he transferred to Lviv National Musical Academy in Ukraine for studying Bel canto against his parents' instruction. At the age of 20, he decided to change the path and pursue his music dream. Otherwise, we would not have seen the popular singer Zhou Shen of today. He has got the talents in singing and has trained/practiced a lot for that as well. He has now performed songs superbly in over 10 different languages while native speakers cannot spot the accents. Wow, I can't believe his parents didn't want him to pursue music despite him being so gifted for it. Yes aren't we all glad he eventually decided to chase his dream. It would honestly be such a pity if we never get the chance to hear him sing. And yeah for sure, no doubt about it, he's definitely put in a lot of work, time, and practice to constantly improve and perfect himself.
@@yellowberrio Zhou Shen was not from a privileged background. His parents were initially peasants living rurally in Hunan province. When China first opened the gate to the western world in 1980's, his parents traveled to Guangdong province near Hong Kong to earn hard wages. Few years later they moved to Guizhou which has been still the one of the poorest province in China. They opened and ran a small shop (I believe it was some kind of retail shop) in the provincial capital of Guizhou. Zhou Shen and his elder sister were left in hometown and they only jointed their parents around 1997. His parents never thought Zhou Shen was that good although he showed some singing ability in childhood. He loved singing as a child and had some popularity locally. His parents actually bought him computer, recording equipment and Internet stuff which was a big burdens at that time when he was 17 years old. That allowed him to do the online singing and live “in the fantasy” of the musical world. He kept doing this for about 4 years before his TV debut in 2014. No money was ever involved these days when Zhou Shen was doing the online performance since the flourish online business of nowadays was only evolved few years later. However, he had gained good popularity in the closed-circle for his unique and charming voice. Otherwise there would not be any of these invitations from the program: The Voice of China. His parents dissuaded him against the music path since he was “not good looking and not tall enough” by their judgment. They persuaded to study dentistry in Ukraine simply because of the low living cost and nominal tuition fees after he had failed to get a college entrance in China(Correction: Zhou Shen did get an offer from ChongQin University to study instrumental musics which he never liked and therefore declined).
Did you notice that there was not any family member or friend with Zhou Shen in his TV debut and the 2nd appearance (The Voice of China 2014) unlike other contestant? Family member or friend would usually be there since the production team would like to invite them and pay the cost. But his parents actually did not know Zhou Shen was back from Ukraine. They were still not happy and stopped sponsoring his living cost after they had found out that Zhou Shen was studying music in Ukraine. Zhou Shen went to the contest partially because this would help him to earn his living. His parents only found out that he was back for the TV program when the recording was finally broadcasted few weeks later. Of course, from that point on, they have supported his music dream whole-heartily.

I have always LOVE "Time to Say Goodbye"; I now only listen to Shen Shen's + Andrea Bocelli's renditions.
You exclaimed, "What he CAN'T DO !". Seems like Shen Shen can't please that female judge. (I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT waste my time.)
