- So apparently the first song that I listened to was actually a very trendy song in China sung by Vocaloid yet Zhou Shen (a human) managed to sing it like nobody's business. It features the story of a warrior defeating a dragon to save a princess. (NOTE: I did not know this info at the time that I filmed the
video, I only found this out way, way later from various people's comments. One or two people also tried to send me links that had subtitles but it was after I had already recorded my reaction so I couldn't quite make use of it.) The second song might actually be one of his very own originals.

Did anyone recommend you to react ShenShen's "Big Fish"?
I recommend all the reactor about this song, because it's so classical to him. "Big Fish" is ....there is no proper vocabulary to translate...It can say that ShenShen is the original singer, and a lot of people notice him is because of this song?
"Big Fish" is from the animated movie"大海魚棠", the story is about a girl, a boy who died and reborn /turn to a baby fish, beautiful and a little bit sadness. There are 2 most popular version: First is the original version with ShenShen solo, I think it's more like a dream, another one is duet version, ShenShen as a guest sings with a 17 years old girl to help her win the champion in 2017"Sing! China!"(ShenShen joins the same program 2014, the program named "The voice of China"in that time.) In this version, ShenShen is called "Siren" since then.(Someone say this version is better than the original, because duet just like the girl and the boy in the movie.)

Thank you for your reaction, it's lovely =) Zhou Shen sang these two songs in Singer 2020. Dalabengba tells a story about a knight saving a princess from a dragon. Shenshen sang 5 different voices: a little girl, the knight, the king, the dragon, and a narrator. But some say there are 7 voices including the voice of a baby and the princess. This song was originally sung by two virtual singers and was very popular in the animation world. Shenshen broght the song to the public and he was also trying to show himself from more dimensions. The second song is another style, and it was originally written as an old man's will. It's nice of you to feel the "dark side" of this song. Shenshen tried the song five years ago but was unable to handle it then. But now he performed it perfectly. BTW, for those people who are watching, some are the competitors of Singer 2020, and some are audiences watching from their homes due to COVID 19. Those audiences are also judges.
Well said. Just couple of things I'd like to mention here. Earlier this year(Jan-April 2020), Zhou Shen entered the contest of Singer which had been probably the most prestigious Chinese music show in the last decade or so. Usually 7 established singers(or group of singers) are formally invited to contest in the show each year, additional 4-5 other singers might be invited in middle of the show to challenge the formal contestant as well. 500 audiences at the live recording stages would usually be their judges for the singers' performance. However, the judges of Singer 2020 were only participating the show online using the cloud techniques because of the Covid-19 pandemics. Zhou Shen was one of the 7 formal contestants for the show. He was the most impressed singer to the general TV audiences this year although he did win the show. The songs in the above reaction video were two of the songs that Zhou Shen performed during the competition.

@@yellowberrio The show of "Singer" only have 500 audiences presented on the live recording stages, these 500 common people are the judges for the singing performance. The more general audience can only view the program(except for the final episode) 5-6 days later on TV when the show is broadcasted. So the other people you see in the video are the fellow competitors, judges(the 500 audiences chosen each week from ordinary people) and the production team members, all of them are banned to disclose any information of the show until it is broadcasted on TV(and on Internet as well). The final episode is all alive that it is produced and broadcasted on the TV/online at the same time.
There were noticeable changes in the "Singer 2020" because of the covid-19 pandemic after the first two episodes of the program had been made. "Cloud recording" techniques were employed to link the contestants in 5 different cities(Tokyo, Beijing, Shang-hai, Taibei, Changshai) and all the 500 judges in homes because of the covid-19 travel bans. Zhou Shen had to do two performances in his bedroom since he was required to do a self-isolation after visiting Wuhan in Jan.(I will respond this later), see

The final episode of the show was done live on April 26th while half of the 500 judges were linked through the Cloud technique and the other half (251 exactly) were participating at the performing stage as the lockdown restriction was relaxed then in China.

Oh man I didn't know Zhou Shen had to self-isolate at one point or that he visited Wuhan during the beginning of this crisis. Omg, even at home, Zhou Shen performs so beautifully. His singing is so crisp and clean, such a pretty voice.

It is worth mentioning that, in this competition, Zhou Shen made tremendous efforts at stepping out of his comfort zone and typical singing genre/style, and tried doing very different things. These two videos are part of this effort.

Only established artists are invited. This year was called Year of the Hits and it finished online due to quarantine. Some people you see are other contestants. The rest are 500 people who vote for their favorite.
