Hi Tasnia! So glad you joined in. Jamie's videos never disappoint! You will learn so much from her and discover the most amazing cold water shells. Jamie girl, you just had to stick that sand dollar in front of the camera. You know it drives me bonkers! But I love it! I would be in heaven looking thru all those tiny shells. Someone would have to drag me off the beach! Love the driftwood. I'm like you. I always see characters in the shape of the wood. Thanks for another fun video, I hope you have a great trip to Jersey and show us all your wonderful finds. Hugs!
Glad you enjoyed it Freda!!

Soooo, Jamie's mom - do you think we could ever get your baby girl to wear water-proof, lined gloves to keep her hands out of that cold, cold water? :) I doubt it, but we can keep trying. lol Great job of shelling today, Jamie!
LOL! My mom has been trying to get me to wear proper shows most of my life! I'd go barefoot 24/7 if I could!!

I had the pleasure of shelling on plum island on Easter Sunday! I found amazing moon shells !â€
Can wait to go again!
WooHoo! I'm glad you enjoyed your visit Cristina!
Love the basket whelks. They seem to wash up here in cycles with rarely a one in between. I have never seen one as big as the one you found in this video, đ€Ż.
Wasn't it amazing? I don't see them this big either!
Hi Tasnia! Welcome. Jaimeâs videos are great!
đ€
So pretty.
at 10:30 ice damage... water is creeping between the shell layers - the inner nacre layer and the outer surface layer. Initially not much gets soaked up, but as the dead shell erodes further its surface becomes more porous and more water can get in between the two layers. When this water turns into ice it expands and then the outer layer exfoliates by pressure from beneath. The same can be observed in bricks with frost damage. So the material itself is rigid, not expanding or contracting like wood. The freezing process of the water is the expanding force that is responsible for the damage. At 26:00 I recommend bringing a hard twig or a skewer to poke out the remnants. Also rinsing the shell several times as you progress. Always handy such small tools.
Thanks so much for the info!! đ
I want some purple sand !!
Just re-watching this video and I have been watching your subscriber numbers climb and woot woot I see you are over 4k woot woot! Congratulations!
Awww thanks for your support Sara! Kim and I are over the moon about it!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Tasnia!! I am so glad you reached out to Jaime. Her videos are amazing! I love shelling too. It's exciting when you come across a beautiful shell on the beach. Have a wonderful day and have fun shelling at the beach! Susan Baird......... From Utah, in the United States
Wonderful!
Hi Tasnia, Welcome from Kentucky USA. I'm so happy you found Jaime's channel. I love watching too, and she is so knowledgeable. She educates us as well. Jaime loved you going the extra mile to show the colonies of the little live shells. That was amazing †So many great items in the shop tonight. Another great night at the beach, thanks.
Thanks Roberta! Sorry it's take. So long to reply. I've been on a business trip.
Hello Tasnia from Montana USA! Jamie awesome beach day! At 4:15 when you are washing the mega was that another moon down there flipped upside down? Thought I saw some blue but it might have been broken? Isnât fun to say itâs spring yet only 20 degrees đ today it was 85 but in two days we are calling for snow đ€Šââïžđ€·ââïžđ! Anyway great finds! Thank you for sharing!!
Hi Sara! Just catching up on some comment replies. Sorry it took this long! You may be right about me missing a moon shell. I tend to miss a lot when I'm looking through a lens. Haha. Thanks so much for watching!
Well one thing is for sure I am also watching through your camera lens đ you are pretty spot on it literally could have been anything, I was testing my eyes definitely not yours đđ
Hi Tasnia! Isn't Plum Island beautiful? I'm from Florida, USA.
Jamie, your videos never disappoint. Awesome finds, awesome views.
Thanks so much Mary! Glad you like them!
Another great video and awesome haul! I love those moon snails! Do you recommend bleaching or acid dipping to clean those shells?
I've done both, but I prefer just soap and water, but if it's super stinky I also like 3 parts water to 1 part hydrogen peroxide. I let them soak overnight :)
love your videos! I am heading to Plum Island on April 28th for my birthday and want to do some shelling. What is the name of the beach your at? I MUST find a moon shell for my birthday!
Thank you so much! It's inside the Parker River Wildlife Refuge. Most of the beaches are closed for the nesting plovers, but...the best place to find moons is open. It's at the Bar Head Rocks. You are sure to find a Birthday moon there! Good luck! If you see me on the beach, flag me down - I would love to say hi đ
The pulled sand is that where Plum Island gets its name from?
Nice, I think you missed a scotch bonnet? a smaller one or it was a cowry??
Awww nuts! I may have Robin! I miss a lot when I'm looking through the lens!
Iâm not sure youâll remember back from before the winterâŠâŠ my sister and I share a birthday (we are 3 years apart) and we do something fun every year. We wanted to head to this beach next Friday, the 21st to enjoy beach combing. Now that the beach area is closed as the birds are nesting, are we able to go to this area? Is it public? Are you able to let me know the GPS address for parking? Iâm assuming it we will see the most shells at low tide? I can figure that out if you are not sure. So happy that you get to travel for your shell treasures!â€â€â€
Oh no! I am so sorry it took me this long to reply to you! The state closed the Refuge beach on May 1st. The only place open is Lot 1 (not the place to find good shells.) You can drive all the way down to the southern point of the island. That's Sandy Point where the Bar Head rocks are. That's the only place to find decent shells this time of year. Sorry it took so long to reply. Work has had me traveling a lot lately. â€ïž
Will you be going mudlarking at the thames?
Unfortunately, there are no new permits being issued to mudlark the Thames
Thanks for the info Amanda!
Where do you park to access the barhead rocks?
Hi! After Lot 7, there's a little unpaved parking lot on the left. Get their early though - this lot fills up quickly during the summer months.
Where in NJ?!? đ
I'll never tell! đ
