My partner and I live together and our money stays very seperate; we split bills down the middle and rent is split 60/40 as we earn different amounts, but otherwise there are no joint accounts and we also just buy all our own food and groceries seperately - very different palates and diets! When a bill is due the person whose name that bill is in will pay it, and then the other person will just transfer them half the amount of what the bill was. Works for us!

My partner and I have the exact same money values so all of our money is just together and we pay for everything out of our shared account we get paid into as well. We're focusing on saving as much as we can at the moment. Works well for us!

It’s so interesting seeing your budget as a Canadian. The ETFs we have are different and some of your expenses I don’t know what they are (is car service like taxi or Uber? What is car repo?). We also only use real estate agents for purchasing houses.
I have a chequing account at one bank, an investing account in another that has lower fees, and my partner and I have no shared account. We track expenses in Splitwise and try to go back and forth with who’s paying so it stays roughly 50/50

So pleased to hear your goals financially 😊 Have been in similar situation as you ! So back saving again ! your video prompted me to check my share account in nz ! Had 50 dollars to invest 😅 My aim financially is to put 200 a pay into that as I am starting a new job tomorrow so will see what my pay is and petrol costs are ! Hubby and I share the rent costs cover the mortgage shortfall on a property in nz and I buy all the food 😂

Once I hit a certain amount in my bank account, I went and got a financial planner because I had no idea how to prepare for anything. I have one bank account with my checking and emergency savings, and then all other money gets put into a high yield money market, and an IRA through my financial planner I do have to pay a monthly fee but I’ve been seeing decent returns on my investments (all ETF’s as well), so I don’t really mind paying for the fees. I’m in Michigan, US.

I have the same account my parents opened when I was 2, and my partner and I have a shared account with a mortgage.
We will never have 100% shared money but are discussing joining money for groceries/food and will have more chats when we have kids bc I’m sure we will open another account for that
We budget completely differently and it would drive my anxiety through the roof if we shared money, plus we started our relationship at very different points financially so would feel weird to join 50/50

Hi Angie was awesome to listen to your budgeting & goals 💛, when you sold your house, was there a loss or gain or break even, if you don't mind me asking. So glad that you both have stability again instead of the mortgage stress. 😊👍

I think your savings plan is solid, however not all platforms have fees. I use Schwab and my trades are free. I am Australian.

Pretty sure commsec is under $10 per trade up to $1000 so long as you have a commsec account linked.
