    It means the pattern repeat is 5 stitches, so you measure how long you want the work to be and then do chains in multiples of 5 until you reach the length you need for the project, then add 2 chain because the start of the pattern says crochet into the 2nd chain from the hook. If you would like to do a practice piece then try chaining 27, that will give you a repeat of the pattern 5 times, which should give you a good idea of what the finished project would look like.     Wow...what a simple but gorgeous pattern...I will certainly be trying this...thank you for sharing...I have a vintage pattern with a stitch that isn't named and is very complicated, is there any way I could send you the pattern so you could do a tutorial on how it's done? I am new to you tube and not sure if this is possible

    Making a shawl with Lion Brand's Shawl-In-A-Ball with this pattern. I sure hope I will have enough yarn to make a decent sized shawl. Furthermore, how did you do your last row? Still with the picot or just 4chains per repeat? Love your tutorials :)

      Yes we only use lighter color yarns in our newer videos. This one is pretty old.

    Your written instruction are wrong for row 1 in the video. I was skipping 2 chains as written, but you were skipping 4 chains.
