Thank you 😊🙏🏼 I feel better about the way I'm caring for my orchids 😊 I have 2 small ones and I'm so happy I haven't killed them 😀 my green thumb is very limited but I'm hopeful 😊
Could you pretty please talk more about hydroponic care? I recently had to call it quits because it was so sick, and it was the hardest I ever tried to keep one alive ...
@Edgar_Castaneda thanks for the recommendation, I love her vids❤️ Unfortunately the only video she mentions orchid hydroponic care is a short and just talks about how it's possible, but there's no real detail 😓
It all depends where you live and the % of humidity versus dry air…. For example I live in a condo with lots of light, but during our cold months I have to use my heat which is electric radiators = drier air, less humidity ~ HALIFAX NS🇨🇦 So not the same as HAWAII! 😁
Keeping orchids in water requires a wet/ dry cycle. Usually, you keep a couple inches of orchid roots in water in a vase for a few days then you dump the water out and let the roots air out for 2-3 days depending on your environment. Never submerge the stem, crown, or leaves in the water or you will be asking for rot. Fertilizing requires 1/4 strength of the recommended dosage and obviously you fertilize on wet cycle days. Don’t put dry roots immediately into fertilized water- I find this burns the roots. Let roots sit in water long enough to to hydrate (roots turn green) and then add your fertilizer. I’m speaking for phalaenopsis orchids- I’ve never tried growing any other type orchid in the full water culture method 😊 ***full disclosure*** I stopped growing orchids in FWC because it takes up a lot of your time when you have 100+ orchids! I now grow in leca in semi water culture- I usually have to re-up my water about every 2 weeks in my environment (semi tropical). Inorganic medium is my preferred method to drastically cut down on pests issues and having to repot orchids every year or two 😊

It al depends on the species and your grow room 😁
How do they get nutrients growing in air?
I put mine in water and it got mold on it :(
