Hopefully, you'll all appreciate the bit of fun we had with you all the start of this episode. đ In these tough times, it's good to laugh.
For a second I was worried youâd binned it! Apparently squeaky brakes are common on cars fitted with Carbon Ceramics - you could always switch to steel brakes for street use and save the carbon ceramics for the track.
@@Mikeysnelgar Ceramic brakes can easily be ruined on the track. A ride through the gravel bed and you might have to look for new ones. Lots of Porsche drivers do it differently: they save these brakes in the cellar, mount steel brakes for street and track and later on sell the car with brandnew, very expensive ceramic brakes.
You been having lessons on how to title a video off TGE? đ€Ł
A good stomp on the brakes will get rid of the squeal.
Robert Morgan You mean 200k subscriber TGE? No shame in that
My wifeâs a carguystv fan now, giggling away at some of your comments, thanks for the shout out, Iâm looking forward to meeting up, youâre going to love my heated seats đ
Roger Bailey Salt on the wound đđ
Can't wait, especially after watching the JayEmm vid :)
You have a race livery motif going on the car, the brake squeal just adds to the authenticity.
Good point đ
My god this channel is so refreshing compared to the other dribble that's out there. So down to earth and not just pushing out fake content to get views.
I'm also looking forward to seeing the aged leather look. I've got a couple motorbikes which I've been toying with the idea of getting aged leather seats for.
Keep up the good work guys!
Slumana Thanks đ
Great video, thanks for sharing. An exhaust upgrade makes total sense. Glad to hear that itâs a keeper. đđđ
Another very enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing. An exhaust upgrade makes total sense. Glad to hear itâs going to be a keeper. đđđ
Really looking forward to seeing how that interior turns out
So am I
I love watching your videos, thank you. The cars are fantastic, the content great, and I also get nostalgic about roads I know well; I live up in north Wales and miss Hampshire sometimes (I donât come back down often enough).
Thanks, Ronnie
Another great video guys, your Spyder collection episode keep me going while mine was on order :) Re "Running in" you might want to have a look at page 12 of your manual! keep up the good work and stay safe.
Crying out for that exhaust, but don't worry you can retrofit the heated seats it's quite straightforward for an auto electrician especially if your trimmer is stripping the material off anyway. Look forward to seeing it up here đ
Yip was missing your content. We need to laugh and enjoy each day and savor each motoring moment we get. Just as an indication. The Particulate filter is such a killjoy. I live in a country that delivers these cars without them and itâs a completely different sound and experience. Crazy! Keep the content coming and stay safe. đ·
We need to come to your country
Love your videos and love your cars
Another great video Damian ;)
Thanks dude
Excellent video Damian. Really nice car and the perfect spec. Can't wait to hear it with a proper exhaust and that interior will be amazing!
Thanks, Dylan. It should be pretty entertaining
Great video Damon. Interesting about Tubi exhaust, one of our members is looking at one for his Testarossa, that sounds like it could be too load. Apologies talking Ferrari on a Porsche post đŹ
No problem đ
Hi guys, love your work and look forward to your videos every week. Just a thought about the 'blank buttons', how about getting the seat trimmer to cover them in the same material as the seats? It would make for a nice tactile feel and add a little unique touch. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks, Barry. I donât think that would work because it would be the only leather in the centre console area
I really like the sound, it sounds old school agricultural Porsche, but microphones and speakers never tell the whole story and I am an absolute arsehole.
I quite like it, wasn't a fan of the cracks and bangs of the previous 981, it just needs to be a tad bit louder, that's all
Beautiful car. I specâd mine out exactly the same way. Unfortunately I wonât be taking delivery until July/August 2020 here in the U.S. Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing the car when you finish the interior. Btw I traded my 2016 model for this new offering. Canât wait to get it.
Thanks for the update Damian,..Iâve been waiting to get your opinion about the car after 6 months, but still a bit too soon with such few clicks. I drive a 981 Spyder and the noise is utterly addictive. Absolutely nuts in tunnels. Iâd be interested to know if youâve been in the 981 Spyder and if you notice a significant improvement in driving. Yours is a bit more pokey, but a touch heavier, so Iâm not sure what the real world difference is... keep the videos coming...!
Iâve not driven the 981 yet, only the 987 and 718. I suspect the 987 and the 981 are both better driving experiences, but not better cars (except the the particulate filters!)
TheCarGuys.TV TheCarGuys.TV I agree with you. Would be a nice video comparing all 3. They all have something very special, and prove numbers arenât everything. Cars are about how they make you feel just as you showed in the Talbot video.
Hi Damien. Just picked up a secondhand 718 spyder with the alloy pedal cover things fitted. Not a fan after seeing your fell off. Also the extra height means healing and toeing is impossible. Are they easy to remove (I know yours was) and what is underneath. Would I need to get normal brake clutch pedal rubbers? Hope the questions make sense. Love the car and only done 100 miles. Martin.
Great spec you have chosen, love a proper manual box and with an aftermarket exhaust spot on. Give it some beans!
Sure thing đ
Hi Damian! Huge fan of the channel and really respect your car-buying ethos. Iâve just bought my first Porsche (a 1998 3.4 Carrera) and was wondering if you had any driving route recommendations around Surrey? Keep up the great work!
Mikey Snelgar try the A339 Basingstoke to Alton. There is also a cracking route from Burpham back to Boxhill.
Top drawer video as always!
Thanks, Dave
Nice video. Definitely tempted for a GT4 myself. The JCR exhaust sounds like the best option right now.
Good choice!
I will have one of the first be delivered to US in August. The pandemic has delayed the entire process. So very looking forward to it. Thoroughly enjoy your shows, keep up the good work.
Thanks, James
Beautiful spec. Really looking forward to the new seat leather and exhaust. Going to be great...you guys are way above most CZcamsrs. If you start obsessing over deviated stitching, I might have to revise that!
We won't, promise
Hi Damian, any news on when the F40 replacement will be announced?
Funny episode I liked that you spec the car the way you wanted it.I love the style of how you are going old school with the decals it is one of my dream cars.I have never driven a Porsche but I have lusted after them since I was a kid and a 928 black was park up my street it looked like a spaceship.
One day I will owner a Porsche and I canât wait.
Yes you will - canât wait to see it
Great video boys
Thanks đ
I cannot believe people have contacted you to say YOUR spec is wrong. Unreal! Welcome to 2020 and the Internet age. Great car really hoping I can scoop one soon.
I do like that car! I remember looking very closely at one of the original Boxster Spyders and thinking âshall I...?â I didnât. The 718 Spyder looks so much better than previous gens. With the right exhaust it will be even better.đ
The boxster just keeps getting better and better , fantastic mid engine rear wheel drive fun machine , and now with gt4 suspension and a 4.0 ltr 6 plot , loving the Rolex I always wear mine on a burn up , done a couple of European road trips roof down the sound the sunshine the views , donât forget your Porsche cap and your sunscreen !!!! Or you will get burn ... I can only imagine it to be epic of the twistys .. stay safe looking forward to your up date :-). P.s yes they do sound quieter a nice exhaust and race header will sort that ....
Glad you liked it, Happy. Porsche cap in a Porsche is a big no no for me
TheCarGuys.TV You will get cooked on the route napoleon to Monte Carlo , I was always anti hat and wondered if my headaches were the beer or the sun , roof down 8 hours driving blue skyâs really gets you even up in the alps , get a driving hat of some description ... what ever floats your boat :-)
Hi please could you share which aftermarket exhaust system you have decided to go with? Also I have just bought a 718 spyder in South Africa...does it have the same GPF as the European models ?
I probably should not have watched this, as I have a Spyder due any time, but donât feel excited about it as I love my Gt3 and it doesnât sound as good as my 981 Spyder. Iâve subscribed and hope you can fix the sound with a good exhaust, hopefully the brake squeal fades with time.
I think I want to do the same brown leather thing with my silver Spyder, when it arrives. Do you think the brown leather will look ok with black carpet and interior? I know normally when you get the espresso brown, the carpet and dash and interior are all the same color. I cant wait to see yours to see how the brown looks with black.
Amazing car, and spec. It sounds lovely as well! đđ»
Glad you like it!
Love the car and look forward to the mods
Cheers, Gary
I'm very curious about what exhaust you'll choose. I agree this is a very important decision, personally I lean more on keeping the OEM back box as seems to be a very good design and very direct flow with valves open, but removing the GPF/OPF is what i'm thinking... Titanium JCRs looks good but, well, its UK made, so...... i'm waiting for the Cargraphicts design to compare and decide, and maybe waiting for the Akrapovic design before deciding
Hi Damien, please let me know who you choose for your exhaust as Iâve looked at capristo and a few others for my own 718 Spyder and havenât yet decided.definitely agree a proper sound will transform this car.
I spoke to Ian litchfield today. Heâll have a new system fitted on his gt4 next week and it looks like itâs going to be perfect!
I'm interested in this too! Which other ones are you considering?
@@Tilum2 Me too!
Modification becomes addictive.
Nice update.
Sweet mod.
Stay safe one and all. đȘ
It sure is
Iâd imagine the brakes will sort themselves out with use. I have ceramics on my 911 and they do squeal occasionally and Iâve done 29k in it.
Hi guys, new subscriber, what a cracking channel, I think I'm going to enjoy watching the videos, regards Graham.
Welcome aboard
@@TheCarGuysTV thanks, I'm also a bit of a watch collector so I've also subscribed to your other channel, nothing as posh as yours though lol đ
Is it not possible to get the heated seats retro-fitted when you get them recovered? Looking forward to seeing and hearing the updates. đ
hi from aussie will the aged leather interior be just seats or all over upgrade we use cattle station leather here from the out back
Love the two fingers and a raspberry to resale value! I think you should write The Beans on one blank and Sausages on the other. Or. As I think I said previously use them to honour famous drivers and race wins. Moss on one and Hill on the other for example. Cracking black and white angst moments at the start. Cheers for brightening a Saturday morning. Looking forward to seeing this car in the flesh at a Beaulieu Porsche day at some point in the future.
You certainly will, Shamus
Now thatâs a proper back lane country road car ..... normally aspirated mid engine real wheel drive ...... ring the snot out of it .... I can only imagine it to be epic , driver focused roof down summer magic.... I totally get it .... I would so love one
Canât wait for some more stories.
Itâd be great if you can get it to sound like the 3.8 Spyder. 888MF has a lovely sapphire blue one
Hi, love your channel.... I received my 718 Spyder in March and share your concerns regarding the exhaust note.
would love to know what after market exhaust you have planned for installing? was looking into JCR, any thoughts on them too?
Thatâs the one Iâm most drawn to
@@TheCarGuysTV Me too, waiting for your report now Damien, hurry up! đ
The only thing that matters is that YOU love your car. It's beautiful and incredible to drive. Screw the haters!đ
Have you guys seen the 512 BBI at Silverstone auctions tomorrow?
One of only 42 right hand drive models built.Would this spin your propeller, set your jelly etc ?
Not sen that one, but BBs scare me a bit
Wow Squarespace is amazing, they've really helped me with what they do.
Gorgeous car đđŒ
I am expecting delivery of my 718 Spyder in the next month of so and intend to change the exhaust. Which one have you settled on as you did not say in this episode, I am presently only aware of BRE ?
Hey CarGuys, how much do you reckon a proper exhaust mod would cost at Sharkwerks, and what do you think about getting the spyder in metallic white?
Both would be awesome
Can you just remove particulate filters and get a better sound?
Unfortunately doing so makes the car illegal on UK roads. There are some aftermarket exhausts for the 718 GT4 / Spyder / GTS 4.0 that seem to sound pretty good, yet still keep the GPFs; JCR's being one of them www.jcr-developments.com/porsche/product-category/718-gts-spyder-gts4.0
Do you plan to change the leather only on the seats or even more? Doorinsets? Stearing wheel? Gear knob?
Only the seats. Thereâs black leather everywhere else
That aged leather looks amazing.
Canât wait to see it on the seats. Will be glorious.
Derek Finnegan Hopefully so
Can you somehow get rid of the particulate filters when you swap exhaust system?
Those pedals covers remind me of what my old Corsa Sri came with đđ
đđđđ
Good video đđđđ
Thank you đ
Quick question if changing the exhaust for an after market exhaust was NOT an option would you still buy this car and live with it? Asking as thinking about a 718 Spyder tho wouldnt change exhaust and potentially invalidate warranty. Cheers much! T
It would still be a great car, but for me personally I wouldnât stick with it unless I could liberate the sound of the engine.
JCR titanium exhaust system incoming I hope ...
đđ
Which aftermarket exhaust did you pick? My 981 Cayman GTS sounds so good that it would be a step down to listen to the 718 spyder regardless of my desire to have a rag top.
The Innotech that Shmee had on his GT4 sounded great
The aged brown leather sounds great look forward to seeing thisđ
Coming soon!
6:50 didnt know manuals could change on their own now ;)
New for the 718 đ
Ha ha I had just noticed that too đ€Ł
I never been a convertible fan. But damn that is a beautiful rideđđđ
Love it if I win the lotto Iâd buy one exact same love the tan leather seats also & the decals đđ»
Look forward to seeing more content on this car. Very tempted to acquire a 718 Spyder. Not driven one yet. Just how good are they?
I wasn't sure at first, while running in, roof's a bit fussy etc. But recently started driving it properly and oh my lord, it's brilliant! (I bet there's a few flippers been caught with they're pants down too, and they might not continue them for long in these circumstance)
I agree with Rob, but for me itâs too early to tell, hence why no full review yet . Early signs are good
TheCarGuys.TV Thanks.
Rob Galvin Thanks. Will be checking prices closely...
Pity about the pedals, and it's great that you are this passionate about this pretty little thing. Forget soulless 400k supercars and stick to cars like this that makes you THIS excited. Cheers!
đđđ
If youâre not tracking much and want a weekend car which would you choose? Used Gt3 or 718 spyder?
Spyder for that purpose
Thanks for the update - was really worried you had sold it! I think it's a great spec and following the theme with all the small touches makes it a great car. Same ethos as my modified 986.
đđđ
Fantastic! Why should you give a toss about ordering something for resale???
Always get what you like, not for the next owner, but for you!
đđ
That brake squeal would drive me crazy...how about a track day to run them in? đ€
And regarding exhaust sound, not as good as a 981 then?
No
Ceramic brakes are less efficient cold and pottering around town but perform amazing when at higher temperatures and donât fade the same as steel discs. The brakes are built to handle the car at performance levels but in reality will mainly be used for trips you could do in an eco box. Are you going to track the car?
Absolutely
Which exhaust system are you gonna geht?
Thanks for the video Damian, it made my day seeing it come into my inbox. Top tip, when you take the boxster to Scotland, the road from Oban all the way down to the Mull of Kintyre is epic. I never see it featured on road trips as itâs a bit out of the way, but is definitely one of my favourites.
Good tip, Alastair
I have had my Mercedes for 8 years and enjoyed every single mile. With your new 718 car to add the mods that you speak about is sacrilege its perfect as it is of course in my opinion
Iâm sure you could easily pop the blanking plates out and spray them GT silver and theyâd â disappear â. Gorgeous car and will only get better. Properly properly properly love it đđŽó §ó ąó łó Łó Žó ż
will you change colur on the emblems to brass?
Yeah - love the wrist watch check! Canât go wrong with a sub!
I love squealy breaks.its part of my car bad habit sound set, like the mechanical noise from the gears inthe transmission or the wooshing sound from the cold air intake.
@thecarguys.tv Interested to hear your thoughts on why you are only putting 1,000 miles on it before running it in... Iâm still trying to get up to the 2,000 mile mark đ
Love your comments.
Well I love the spec of this car Damien. She's a beauty! It'll sound awesome with the new exhaust and those seats.... That aged leather in the colour you've picked will look absolutely incredible đ
Let's hope so, I'm v excited
*PCCB are supposed to squeal. That is normal.*
991 GT3RS wih PCCB also squeal. It says it somehwere in the owners manual aswell, can't remember which page.
I double dog dare you to do the whole top in a slightly darker aged leather then the seats! That would be some sick modern day buck Rogers shit! Can't wait to see the interior
That would be cool, but changing the top is a whole other ball game
Damian Blackburn..........Sensational!!.......enjoy the Porsche
What your thoughts on 2 zone climate control and auto dimming mirror option?
I didnât need them
Canât wait to see the aged leather interior, the car already looks amazing, definitely up there with my favourite Porscheâs
You and me both!
Hi great car have you seen the audi TT with the baseball int
I did dundon race headers on my 981 spyder and it sounds like a Carrera Gt, im sure they make one for the 718 spyder as well. If you want to hear check my videos. Its intoxicating without cats.
"Bedding in" means lots and lots of beans and lots of braking type use like on a nice twisty. race circuit or maybe a trip around the Italian mountains :-)
Well that sounds... good đ
Is a breath of fresh air knowing you buy your cars in the spec you want simply because you can and that's what you like... fortunately for you you seem to be in the position to actually own your cars rather than the now "Norm" CZcams" pretenders with there bank owned cars... you sir are an inspiration to those who actually want the to achieve the reality of actually owning your car rather than the pretence of living a life that really is just Bull shit (excuse my language)... we all know who the pretenders are đ... love your content and cars... all the best
The seats will look amazing in the old leather look! Different from the dog tooth too
Any news on the Pista?
No news, sadly
Quick question, doesn't changing the exhaust void the warranty in Europe?
No idea. It's only the back, so I wouldn't think so.
Whatâs the embossed hexagon in between the seats say? If you want a volunteer to do 300 miles for you in a weekend đ€Ł
That is a fine 718 Silver Spyder and it will look very nice with the aged brown leather seats. Enjoy!
Love the spec...I had a heated debate with Porsche Silverstone about resale value...I wanted 4S with in Aventurine Green with Brown two tone interior ....he kept going on about that not being good for resale or P/E, so I have kept my 2018 911 T and am having full glass out respray in Porsche Irish Green and Re-trim In Brown leather....when I told Dealership via telephone that I was ordering 992 but was âModifying Tâ he said thatâs going to cost ÂŁ1000s and leave you with a non-saleable car...I have also had Remus exhaust and slight engine modifications to 440BHP .....never done this before to a car I own but itâs now perfect or will be with Leather.....and if in two years I canât sell well I will have a Manual Gearbox 911 with 50.000 miles under its belt and a smile on my face đkeep up the great work chaps
That. Sounds. Awesome đđđ
Can't wait to see that interior done!
My steel ones squeal too on the GT4. Horrible.
