    There are a lot of requirements and money to be put down before you can even think of hauling your first load...in this video I outline what it cost ME and several requirements to get started.

      Good video. She'll probably scare a lot of wanna be's away that think it's easy. I use Progressive Insurance, $1,900 down $1,150 for 10 months. I do use a dispatcher and he keeps me going with good loads with no less than $2.00 and up per mile. I've gotten many $3.00 and up. Like she say's, shop around. There are big differences, huge price variations. BTW, my dispatcher charges me 7%. He keeps my trailer (40') full and has my next load ready so no waiting for my next load.

      I have a question you might have answered already. What about a small business loan to cover expenses? Coming from someone that is unable to save 30+ k to start the business. I know it's risk reward , but it's scary jumping into it with little to no experience.

    • @HotshotAdventures

    Im thinking about buying a Diamond C18000 gvwr and derating it to 15000... any thoughts ?
    insurance is cheaper, books are easier, less stressful, the money isnt as much but you can do well, plus if you get ticketed isnt the fines less !
    that im not sure because back when i was a class A I only had one fine rolling into florida, I forgot about my tandems... 100 dollars yikes !

    • @HotshotAdventures
      @HotshotAdventures  Před 3 lety +1

      Derating a trailer is lowering the weight capacity on the sticker. It doesn't change the cost of insurance, and only you can change your stress level, not a sticker with a number on it. :)
      Seems like you have it all worked out, I'm not sure where you need my thoughts on anything...I have heard diamond c is a good manufacturer, I think thats what ill be trying out next myself.

      Its a good question. The business doesn't have any credit in the beginning, credit card companies will do a soft check on your personal credit score, and I believe based on that you're either approved or not.

    You didn't say your name on the video or the description. Makes it more difficult to communicate. Nothing wrong with just a first name. I am thinking about Hotshot driving. Can you explain what some of these items are? BOC-3. And the DOT medical -- how did you sign up? You mentioned a CA#. What is that? You did explain and go into details on many of the other items -- that was helpful. How did you find your Insurance broker? I am having problems finding insurance for my Box truck (NY home base). Any advice? How was the Enterprise rental experience? Why did you get a CDL for Hotshotting? Are you driving Pick-up or a Semi? Just some questions that may also pop up from other drivers considering going on their own. I set up my LLC -- not through Legal Zoom (sort of expensive for me), but another website. Did you get an online lawyer to help you with business issues? What about Accounting services? Any advice on that -- I am considering using an online Accounting service, but I heard some are really not worth it. Thanks for the info on Start-up costs. It answered many of my questions, so it did help me move in the right direction so far. I am looking for a CDL school, but don't want to pay $4K.
