#wewatch #doctorwho #reactions - Zábava
That cafe scene is such a poignant raw bit of emotion in the middle of the epic story. We often get to see the Doctor cheerful, angry, curious, nervous - but never vulnerable, not like that. I love how it's with Wilf of all people; he's always brilliant, and it's a little reminder of how very old the Doctor is.
and wilf’s reaction is just heartbreaking, he probably idolised the Dr more than any companion
This two parter was the most hyped thing ever when I was a kid. Also these two partners blew our minds and made us all cry.
“People have waited hundreds of years to find me,” like Captain Jack!!
That diner scene is absolutely one of Tennant’s finest moments on Who. And, I just like it when Doctors cry, I’m kinda funny that way.
"Wibbely-wobbley-timey-wimey"
"That can't always be the answer!" - Paula, after 4+ seasons do you really believe that? ;)
Also it's basically the only way to make sense of Moffat's run on the show.
She's right, though. Nonsense for the sake of nonsense all the time gets frustrating after a short while. Yes, you can do anything you want as a writer with no restrictions, but then your stories don't make any sense at all. On the other hand, exploiting loopholes in established rules that appear to be nonsense at first but actually make sense later is brilliant. And if that's the MO, then I don't mind the occasional wibbly-wobbly nonsense explanation.
"But..but how?"
🎶 "oooh...Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey.." 🎵
The Master's new "super powers" are weird and not very well explained, but the saving grace of this episode is the interactions between the Doctor and Wilf and the presence of Timothy Dalton. Great reaction as always. Can't wait for part two!
RTD gave a decent explanation for the Master's powers on the episode commentary.
He is literally shooting his body's electrical energy. The stuff that goes through your spine and nerves and brain tissue.
@@Mrazmatmahmood not in the episode itself, doesn't count
He's falling apart. But like a nuclear reactor falling apart, it comes with a lot of fire and fury.
Watching it back, it could be explained as when they were doing the ritual to bring the Master back, that anti potion thing that Lucy threw into the mix messed up the combination and so we have unforseen side effects 🤷♂️
Super weird going back to this episode and now recognizing David Harewood (Martian Manhunter from Supergirl) as the rich dude.
American CIA vice director in Homeland. Weird contrast also :)
Well, what do ya know: James Bond as a Timelord!!
Lord, Time Lord.
@@ajivins1 "Wibbley-wobbled. Not stirred."
Timothy-wimothy
"I can do an American accent" that news anchor woman actually is American lol.
@@lynn8374 yeah I never clocked as a kid, but she really sounds like she's affecting that accent BAAAADDD
@@lynn8374 Maybe they tell her to sound "more American"
Part 2 needs to be released immediately
Bernard Cribbins was in the 2nd 60s theater movie 40 years previous
3:07 Voldemort? Oh Paula, your youth is showing. He's clearly Ming the Merciless. Has the ring and everything. ;)
Isn't the ring basically a horcrux? A little piece of the Master's life was in the ring. so it stopped him from being dead permanently... or something like that? A comparison with Voldemort seems reasonable to me.
He even has to fight Prince Barin!
David Harlow The whole scene (picking up the ring from the ashes, the manaical laughter from off screen) is a one-to-one reshoot from the classical 80s movie "Flash Gordon".
Hence the youth pun. 😉
Zvi mur OMG you are right. Didn't thought about that. 😆
@@Frank-Voight-Kampff I remember that scene. That's a good point, it does look exactly the same.
This two-parter has such amazing, emotional scenes between David Tennant and Bernard Cribbins. They have such amazing chemistry, I wish they had more adventures together. As for The Master, I actually hated the OTT manic way he was, as the Master was a lot more subtle in classic adventures. But anyway, I seriously look forward to seeing you react to the next part.
That diner scene with Wilfred and the Doctor!!! 😭😭😭
Jesus I can only imagine how much Katrina and Paula ( especially Paula) is gonna cry over Tennants regeneration
Next part makes me cry every single time. All i say is " I Don't Want to go"
It's coming. It is returning through the dark. The moment Paula when realizes what "He will knock four times." really means....
When the Master sends out the ring of power from the machine, if you pause it at the right moment, you can see that the ring is made up of Master faces - a lovely bit of work from the CGI department, and one that no one would notice unless someone told them to look out for it - which is how I know about it.
What a perfect Christmas present Bernard& David gave us. Music supplied by Murray Gold a bonus
A treat to come back too
oh god oh god here we go. Flood warning with significant increase incoming :P
One of the cacti is Nina from Bring Human (UK) which would be a great BBC show for somebody to react to at some point but nobody does 😭
Gotta say, i love the fact that you think the american newsreader's accent is fake, when she's played by an American actress. :D
The diner scene. Obviously, Wilfred didn't mean any harm, but what he did was the equivalent of waving some crack in front of an addict who's trying to recover. It was unintentional cruelty at its most heart-wrenching.
Lachele Carl, who played Trinity Wells, the AMNN news anchor, is American and therefore capable of doing an accurate American accent - or at least one of the many American accents - though there's also the possibility that they asked her to do a stereotypical American accent to British ears!
The annoying thing is that we’ve got to wait another week before we see the reaction to part 2 😡
Shut up.
Don’t let me punch of fuck out of you.
Wilf makes everyone cry. It's automatic. But as much as he made you cry in part 1, you'll gush tears during part 2.
Interesting factoid, the reason Wilf wears a Parachute Regiment badge in his hat is because Bernard Cribbins who plays him, actually served in the Parachute Regiment in 1947. Loving your reactions ladies, always such fun ☺
All I'm gonna say about the next episode... The final twist is like an old friend twisting an unexpected knife in your gut... I doubt Paula it's ready for it
She really isnt
"Sssshimmer"
I love how the Doctor spends so much time hanging around 21st Century London and is still confused when he runs into familiar faces.
"I did my duty (in Palestine after WW2)."
"You never killed a man."
"No, I didn't. No, I-I-I did not, no but... *don't say that like it's shameful!"*
And the best part is it's true of both Wilfred *and* Bernard. Rest in Power, old soldier. 🫡🥲
Doc: I'm going to die...
Wilf: So am I, one day.
Doc: Don't you dare.
Wilf: Ok, I'll try not to.
:(
I remember hearing in a Doctor Who confidential that John Simm couldn’t watch this episode Because there was too much him in it. He said that there were extras wearing masks of his face for the wider shots, and it made him a little uncomfortable to see so much of him. I can definitely see why.
The thing with John Simm is this: he's willing to do *literally anything* on screen.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
And then we get to see the NEXT episode!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
So many great moments in this episode. They really mastered dramatic timing and beats in this two-parter. That moment when the master is knocking the pipe on the trash can 4 times, 4 times in a row.
Dramatic beats, plus true music.
And now I have to wait a week!?!?!? I don’t know how I’m gonna survive.
Paula will never see it coming....and she is not ready...nobody is ever ready for what comes next
Good Queen Beth, well she isn't called...ahem! When you realise this is after a certain episode but you never knew!
You know someone had to have seen "master race" in a history book or something and thought "Hey how can we make it so there is an entire race of The Master just so he can say Master race?"
Uuugghhhh...that diner scene...THE FEELS!!!! 😢😢😢
11:40 the funny thing is, the actress IS actually American 😭😂
Yay!!! We Watch Who!!! The diner scene kills me every time! Any time The Doctor gets emotional I cry. If he’s crying and emotional, I’m most definitely sobbing. But I can’t wait for We Watch Who! Oh god, I just realized what comes next... Welp, good luck!
If you haven't seen Tennant in Good Omens then you should!
I remember The Master when Delgado and Ainley played him, and this unhinged (and as you said, kooky) take on him is so different to the classic "moustache twirling" baddie type that we used to have.. but his energy kinda mirrors The Doctor so it works!
Overall I'm not sure I like it, but it is definitely disturbing. The contrast between giving the order to decimate a planet for...no real reason? Just viciousness? And his manic looney in-person attitude. It's very uncomfortable to watch.
Kat you're such an empath. You keep setting me of when you cry x
Loved the reactions from both of you on this Part 1. Already buckling up for next weeks conclusion......
David Tennant named his son Wilfred🥰
The face of 10 on Kat's shirt looks like a mix between David Tennant, Peter Davison and Eric Bana.
You guys are my favorite Doctor Who and ST:TNG channel. If you really want to see David Tennant at his evil best, make sure to catch the first season of Jessica Jones.
This first part is fine. It serves it's purpose as a set up for TEOT part 2 well enough. It feels a bit like filler though and it makes me wish this story wasn't split in half at all. It wasn't really needed because aside from the scenes with Wilf and few of the other plot heavy bits, nothing else really happened. All of the important bits from TEOT part 1 could be condensed down to about 25 minutes. What they should've done is aired a 90 minute special on Christmas day instead. The 2nd part is really good though and I'm really looking forward to it.
I am so looking forward to the day when the two of you see Classic Doctor Who episodes with the Master. If you think Sims' portrayal is interesting...you ain't seen nothing yet. 😀
Been holding off on watching this so I can watch both together but I couldn't wait. I got to see these two episodes in the theaters last year💙
Was really hoping both parts would be done at once haha, oh well... ugh, knowing what’s coming, but ready to see the reaction to it
I love the wibbly wobbly timey whimey song!!!
whatever else you might think of the episode, that cliffhanger/reveal for me remains one of the best in all of television, right up there with then ending of Best of Both Worlds Part 1 (By the way, when you get to that TNG episode, please don't use the bluray version that puts both parts together, it kinda ruins the buildup in my opinion)
Been waiting for this one. Better have my spare tissues ready...
For most of his run as the Doctor, I found that David Tenant was really good at the quirky/happy/light-hearted things, but deeper emotions were portrayed as angry shouting matches and it did not sit well with me. But my god, when he let himself (or he was aloud) to show despair and heartbreak like here or in The Human Nature/Family of Blood and a couple of other episodes, he is amazing!!
Here come the drums!! And the curls are back 😉👍🏻
Love your videos, having one newb and one fan who has seen these episodes makes it so great!
I've been putting off watching this but I saw part 2 is up. So I'm not giving spoilers when I say I know how this is going to end. I don't know if I'm emotionally prepared to go through this again but this time with you two. I almost want to watch this part one and say to myself "And Paula and Katrina lived happily ever after!" And not watch the next part. If you see me commenting on part 2 you'll know if I caved or not.
Why did we never get a spinoff of Wilf and Minnie's pensioner bus gang? XD
We were robbed!!!
Oh I remember the hype for the next episode. And everyone’s shock about the time lords
Oh boy..this is gonna be one heck of a ride.
You should try life on Mars uk with John Simm. He left this show to do Doctor Who as he is a massive fan.
So here we are at the end of time. Very excited for this reaction and also part 2. Speaking of Star Trek and doctor who. Did any of you read the Star Trek doctor who crossover graphic novel?
Yo
Wotcha ladies! Nice reaction - but Paula, regarding the next episode check out Julius Caesar Act 3 Scene 2 line 181.
If you like Wilf ( Bernard Cribbins ) you should watch the film "The Railway Children". P.S. Have a box of tissues handy if you do.
Thank you for the who uploads!!! I've been enjoying them! You two are awesome
10:50 hey, missy, you so fine...
I'm so scared for the next one, aaaaaaa
It's so weird seeing J'onn J'onzz from Supergirl have a english accent.. obviously I watched this long before Supergirl came on but I never made the connection that Paul Harewood was in both until i watched your reaction.
Lord, Time Lord.
Time Lords might be smart but they still spit when they talk! lmao why didn't they edit that out?
sadd and miss the old pappy WILFRED-MOTT
Watching you two getting emotional, just wait till part 2. The waterworks will be working overtime! Gotta say, part 1 is the weakest part of the two-parter, but the interactions between the Doctor and Wilfred and the shimmer scene make up for it.
Hey guys!
This is all well and good, but over on patreon can y’all keep that next part to yourselves today? 😭😭😭
I’m not ready for this era to be over 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Scotty Bee
Um, I know :/
Will always be the saddest episode of doctor who for me
This two parter is so face palmy XD
But we're closing in on the eleventh hour. Woop!
This is it!!
Is it next week yet?
It is for us patreons. ;)
I hate being poor😭
This week is gonna be so long xd
I understand that the Master is burning up his life force, but why all the jumping around like a grasshopper?
Cuz he batshit cray-cray
If you need another show watch 12 🐒 is awesome show
Are you really gonna make us wait another week for the next one? Now that's just cruel!
I did so not like this part 1. Look forward to next part though. That is brilliant
11th Doctor is my fave, so far this has been great but I'm looking forward to reactions to his story, hope you keep going 😁👮♀️🍎
This episode was great as a kid...but it is a pretty stupid story in retrospect, lmao.
But the cliffhanger and part two are genuinely great, and I cannot wait for them!
Yes, it's a daft story, and I really didn't/don't care how Russell T Davies turned the Master into a flying, thunderbolt-zapping supervillain - WTF?!!! What saves the episode for me are the brilliant cast and their 100% committed performances.
Part 1 really is all over the place isn't it, lmao? It's still enjoyable because it's clearly building towards something (paradoxically, that's also it's biggest weakness. It's all just build up) and has some really great performances and scenes. As you say though, part 2 is miles better.
Your both always wearing the same clothes, are u bing watching all the specials?😂
hehehe mayyyyybe
Paula Deming dangerous, could be hard to stop and b4 u know it half a series has gone by hahaha. Would love to see u two react to the classic who honest trailer👍
good reaction as always but really do not enjoy this episode at all. almost terrible without good wilf to redeem. next part is better but still only barely gets into good area.
