- Sinead O'Connor has been hospitalized just days after her son's death. The Irish singer posted a series of harrowing tweets on Thursday claiming she wanted to "follow" the 17-year-old, whose body was found on January 7, 2022 after he went missing from suicide watch at an Irish hospital. She later apologized for her comments and said she was going to get help "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I am with cops now on way to hospital. I'm sorry I upset everyone," she said.

No one can blame her heart for wanting to be with her son. She's blinded by heartbreak. I pray she finds peace
Perhaps if she got help earlier for herself and learn to forgive her abusers and herself, she wouldn't have been such an angry and messed up person and be a better mother.
I was thinking the same thing. Mothers a are a child’s first influencer, good or bad.

(MY YOUNGEST) THEN DID THEIR VERY BEST TO COVER UP THEIR ACTIONS. IN ALL HONESTY, IF THEY WOULD HAVE JUST SHOT ME, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN MERCIFUL. PEOPLE DIE FROM ACCIDENTS, CANCER, THEY DIE NATURALLY, WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE, NOT THAT THIS PAIN IS ANY EASIER TO CARRY IN ANY DEATH OF A CHILD. BUT PEOPLE WITH DIRT ON THEIR HANDS THAT COVER THEIR STAINED HANDS WITH MORE DIRT= THE DECEPTION CAN MAKE LIFE BEYOND UNBEARABLE.
THERE IS ABSOUTLY NO WAY FOR ANYONE TO EVEN IMAGINE THIS PAIN UNLESS IT HAS FLOODED THE VERY DEBTH OF THEIR OWN SOUL. PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THE TRUE VALUE OF A CHILD. THEIR WORTH IS MORE THAN THE SUN, THE MOON AND ALL OF THE STARS IN GODS HEAVENS. OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR TRUE INHERITANCE FROM GOD ALMIGHTY.
So sorry for your loss. My oldest sister lost her son in the same way Sinead lost her son. My nephew was 19, and on January 11, 2019. After we lost our mom 13 days prior. At approxinately, 12:30 pm. He left us. He was a gentle giant, 6'3" and I had carried him the day he was born. Almost identical to my autistic daughter, in their temperament. He was most sweetest and kindest young man. He never cursed, he had the highest grades, obeyed his parents, and never partook in risky behavior. His most excitements were playing video games and hanging out with his younger cousins. He was clearly too good for this world. He was in college and pre-training for US customs like his DAD. My sister misses him so much he was her buddy. He and my son seperated by one yr exact birthday. I am heartbroken for all the moms and families losing our precious children. I don't even imagine seeig myself breathing and living without my two kids. But with Jesus love I know I can, knowing that they would be with Him in heaven
I lost my son in 2019. I can tell you that you feel like the bottom totally drops out from under you when such a loss happens. You actually feel like your losing your mind!!

I, too, lost my son. He was only 18 yrs old when he passed on 6/28/21. It feels like it happened yesterday. There is NO other pain quite like it. There are so many triggers. The excruciating pain can creep up out of nowhere. You feel like it engulfs you and you just can’t breathe. I wouldn’t wish this hell on anyone. I am so incredibly sorry that you lost your son 🙏🏻💔🙏🏻.

I hope whatever is after this life that she is with her boy. She was always searching for more. Whether that’s religion or poetry, she felt the human condition so acutely and to lose her son must have been something that broke her spirit.
There are so many of us that have lost our adult children to suicide. I, too lost my beloved son to suicide 2 years ago. Everything that barb ryll said I can totally agree with. There truly is joy left - it just takes a while to get there and feel it again. I am still working on recovery. There is no worse heartache or pain than losing your child, especially to suicide. I wish we could all gather around each other and just hug each other. I guess we just support each other from a distance and know that there are better days ahead. My dear friend you truly have nothing to apologize for. You are in my sincere prayers.

I am devastated for her as one mom to another. It's so close to home bc I have a 17 year old son and it's SAD that she feels like she's got to apologize about political pasts when she is never going to be the same. I can't imagine and I never want to feel that pain she's going through. I want to know where all the mental health activists are right now. I lost my brother to suicide. He also escaped from the hospital while on suicide watch. By the time we found him it was too late. I can not imagine losing my son, I'm so sorry for your loss and I pray you find peace and happiness.

Sinead, glad you’re getting help. It is awful . Our Mum buried our baby brother he was 47 years old. Death by suicide. I was like a second mother to him. I just live up the road from Dublin. I was in hospital once for extreme anxiety after his death. I also felt that everyone would be better off without me. I was in hospital for 3 months. They will help you, but your son will be close by and he will help you in ways you can’t even imagine. That has been my experience. Have hope he is with you, he will help and comfort you and we will all pray for you. Love from up the road.

It has changed my life. Most anti depressants have anti anxiety properties too. They often get bad press but for some they’re a life saver. 💞

I'm so happy for her. She suffered for years before her son, had a moment of happiness, but when Shane left a year and half ago, her life was a living hell.
I loved her since the 80s. There was nothing else like her and her music hit me in face with emotion.
Today is a bittersweet. I miss her, but I'm more happy that she is finally at peace.

Suicide is one of those things no parent should have to shoulder the blame for. Nobody can really understand why a person does this dastardly act. She has gone through a lot and losing your son can break anyone even the strongest among us. My prayers are with her now during this awful life moment. Nobody sings " nothing compares to you" like you. Suicide is never a solution and it never will be.
You are not the definitive authority on this. You can give your opinion but don't state your thoughts as fact.

And you're right, no one can understand a person wanting to commit suicide if they are not in the same position. And then you declaring that suicide is never the solution..however some persons do not see another way out for whatever troubles they endure. And they should not be vilified because of it. They are left with their whole world turned upside down and are forever thinking if only I could have done something. It really is a selfish act on the part of the person who commits suicide. They have decided to take their own life for whatever reason but they also have destroyed or forever changed the lives of their loved ones.

Bear in mind that there's a feeling of hopelessness and lack of self worth, and other things. Chemical imbalance for example. I have felt like that many times and still do; and have contemplated suicide many times. Honestly it's not as bad as it used to be..I've literally put a knife to my wrist before. Of course I wasn't able to do it and I have thought of my family but everyone is different. It's a horrible thing to happen but it's not something that is arbitrarily done..this is a person's mental anguish we're talking about.

My daughter died in an apartment fire in 1999. Some people think I should “have adjusted to her death, by now.” She was 24 years old. I will NEVER get OVER it. When your child dies it’s not natural. It’s a never ending ache. I would never wish it on my worst enemy. Thank G-d, I don’t have any enemies. Still, I wish people (who haven’t suffered the worst loss of their lives) wouldn’t talk about “closure”. I know they don’t mean to but that’s no comfort. We feel guilty for outliving our child. We sometimes act in outlandish ways. Yes, we often aren’t understood. The pain is indescribable. Please, love your child/children. Hold them close. You simply never know what the future brings. Compassion goes such a long way.
This life is too short to hold onto anger, differences, and/or hatred. We all have our problems and issues. Most are suffering (some more than others). It’s not a contest. Life is a struggle for everyone. I wish you all Love. Peace. Understanding.

I’ve never heard she had 4 children. I thought she just had one son. This is so tragic. It’s so hard to watch anyone grieving and in so much unbearable suffering and anguish.

i LOVE Sinead. I spent my college years just absorbing her music.. I relate to her more than ever and so sorry she lost her son.
May you find comfort in memories you shared with him. I lost my Mom and it is still very painful. But I smile when I see our videos and photos. Also, please remember your other kids, they lost a brother and they need you.
My heart aches for her. We lost my daughter's fiance 29/12/21, when he ended his battle with mental health. He was like a son to me, and the anguish and pain remains palpable, especially watching my daughter struggle. 13 years prior, I lost my brother, and my uncle. Watching my mom was one of the most painful things I've been through.
We're still not well. We struggle daily, to find meaning and purpose, through the trauma. It's a process, but in the USA, there is little help for those who are left behind, paralyzed by grief.

I lost my 20 year old son in a vehicle accident off base in Colorado he was active duty army served 15 months in Iraq the pain in my heart was the worst pain in life I didn’t want to be here anymore even though I had 3 other children, it’s been 13 years ago now and my mind is in a better place but my heart will always be broken I totally went off the deep end for several years so I can relate to her pain 5 years later after my son my 16 year old granddaughter was found hanging in her bathroom again my heart broke 💔💔 I will pray for strength for Her 🙏 grief especially when it’s your child is a long day at a time road ❤️
