- The funeral for Sinéad O’Connor has been told she was "gifted with a voice that moved a generation".
The service took place in Bray, Co Wicklow on Tuesday morning.
Thousands packed the streets of Bray as a cortege passed by her former home in the seaside town.
Imam Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri who delivered Sinead O'Connor's funeral prayer, said the service was "moving" and "spiritual."

I often think about how do we reach out to those who are suffering. Especially those in the public consciousness. I suffered deeply and sought support in a time there was only the Samaritans.
I’m a psychotherapist for 25yrs now , I can only reach those who reach out to me, I know no other way.

I loved her from the first time I played The Lion and the Cobra. 2006. As a young person we had a Sinead O'Connor fan club in highschool, where we raved endlessly about her intelligence, song writing and of course, singing. I knew she struggled, I knew she was both ferocious and fragile. I knew she was terribly abused, but I always hoped she would be able to steer the path. When I found out she passed, I pulled off the freeway and wept. This American supported her brave assault on the Catholic church 100 percent.

A very powerful but fragile songbird leaves us for the eternal universe. Sinead touched everyone who heard her. Terribly sad she couldn't hold on any longer and had to be with her lost child. Rest in Peace you were loved and you will be missed. Thank You for sharing your gift with us.
She was a fantastic person like everyone says and in her latter years she embraced Islam. Perhaps this point is important but seems to be missed out in these reports. As a Muslim I am immensely proud that she found her home as she herself said in her acceptance of Islam. What a wonderful lady.

Who knows where it would’ve taken her next if she was still with us. Just because one video didn’t mention her Muslim conversion doesn’t mean that others haven’t. She blessed me as my poetry teacher with the ability to write poetry and with that I have a poets heart just like her it’s something we share I myself at 24 years old I’m a poet and my teacher was Sinead O’Connor, and she gave me the love of poetry and a heart filled with love for poetry a poets heart

I just watched Deenshow and found out that she did have her Islamic funeral prayer and the family allowed the sheikh who she took her shahada from to do full Islamic rites. I think the family then wanted to have their time with her so nothing wrong with that.
