For some reason I can't get used to the fact that Pierce Brosnan is 70 years old. This is probably because 20 years ago, when he was 50, he looked 38-39.

Not hardly since Michael Caine played the exact same character in The Great Escaper this year, which is an absolute tour de force for Caine's last movie. If the story of Bernard Jordan (who Artie Crawford is based on) gets an Oscar, it will go to Caine's incredible performance over Brosnan's merely excellent one.

I just heard about whole story of Quentin Tarantino and Pierce Brosnan originally pitching the idea of Casino Royal to the studio and fan demand is what made them decide to make that movie after they didn't want to do it. An interesting coincidence is that in 'The Longest Day' (1962) Sean Connery played an Irish soldier serving in the British Army. I think the character's name was Private Flanagan.
The irony is that he would have had to learn the Northern Irish accent all over again. I know he's from Drogheda in the East of Ireland closer to Dublin than Belfast, and he all but lost that accent, but it's still strange to think he'll be playing an Irishman in his first film since 'The Long Good Friday'. Can't wait for this.
I have seen Micheal Caine in the Great Escaper and it was amazing. I am 64 and my Grandfather was at Normandy and survived. I am sure this was be equally a fantastic film by one of the best actors of our time. Cant wait.................

Its called the Great Escaper, with Michael Caine. But which came first, but Sky has a reputation for copying more reputable studios and networks.
Both films had been made at the same time and where unaware of the other so a very rare occurance.
Great Escaper first. My son helped make it.
Can't really be copying when they were both filmed around the same time, this version actually finished filming first.
Except the two movies are about two different people, Caines is about an English navy vet at 89 escaping his care home for the 70th anniversary and Brosnan’s is about an Irishman (age unknown) who does the same on the 75th anniversary. Same kind of tales about two different guys.
