Jack is such a fucking enigma. He seems like a GENUINELY out there dude but at the same times he's self aware enough to exaggerate the quirks that make his persona entertaining. What a legend
hughjass311 I don't think people appreciate how accurate this description of him is
Its like he's constantly doing an exaggerated impression of himself.
He's so wacky and aloof on stage and in interviews, thats it's not immediately obvious how much he cares about his work. But the proof is of course in the results.
He's a great mix of business casual.
Sleepify - minimalist funk taken to it's ultimate conclusion.
Volume can't get lower than -infinity
"She's got this vibrato, it's making me nauseous, she's not keeping it within a whole step, you know?"
why are you quoting this?
Because imagine what not keeping a vibrato within a whole step would sound like
So I pop a Dramamine...
I keep coming back to this video because of that. I quote it to my friends, who aren't vulf fans
@@quinndavis3955 Up AND down, do you think?
JACK WERE WAITING ON THE BASS TRINITY!!!
Number one: Joe Dart
Number two: also Joe Dart
Number three: Joe Dart's neck muscles
I think it's:
1: Joe Dart's Fingers
2: Joe Dart himself
3: Joe Dart's neck muscles
Mizrahy Aquino correct me if I'm wrong but I think episode 1 was bassists but it's only a podcast :/
How you gonna leave out the hips?
It was a snare drum podcast! tonal.goodhertz.co/holy-trinities-snare/
I just realised Jack's speech for accepting the honourable award as the fourth member of the Holy Trinities is actually his manifesto. This should be used when he's placed in the Funk Hall of Fame. God bless you Jack Stratton
what the vulf
dude I love your work
again lol
insaneintherainmusic worlds collide :)
this guy
Hey I was right, you are a Vulf fan! I made that comment on your Sonic video
does anyone know how Jack manages to be like this? like his style... he embodies it in everything. it's the type of strange that kneads my stomach and the type of wonderful that elevates my mind.
It is who he is.
passion and love of music with a touch of tasteful sarcasm that the fans love.
I think he just has a great feel for wording and timing, in some interviews you can tell hes a bit more "normal" so I guess he just turns the dial for whatever the occasion needs
"a personality knob"
"and what is that controlling?"
Actually interested in renting some of that space between the kick and snare. Where can I contact you?
Think he's based in Queens.
what did he mean by this? the space between kick drum and snare drum?
@@paul99106 I think Jack misspoke; he meant snake. He likes to kick snakes.
the greatest pop melody of all time is a bassline. I couldn't agree more.
Vulf is actually so educational
Elias Carrier vulf is for the people

I wanna be Jack when I grow up so bad
Hey, is that Roto Vlogs?
No we need Alexa pls be you
You'd better not grow up then!
The three holy trinity videos are my holy trinity of youtube videos.
*How can I be as cool as Jack Stratton?*
Go back to 1970 with some kind of bowl-like fixture and gather up all the loose cool floating around that you can.
Out of the million cool things I've seen Jack do, the coolest thing I've seen him do is go out to play drums having completely ditched the persona (even wearing a totally different outfit) for Joey Dosik who was opening for them. If you want to be as cool as Jack be that cool to your friends. It's the little things that count.

It started with the shorts, always with the shorts
You can't
I need a full version of that outro goddamn
"How can less be more? More is more!!" - Yngwie Malmsteen, doesn't listen vulfpek
The 2022 Vulfmon Album proved Jack to be worthy of the award, period.
Jack's dress sense is next level
"Fashionably White"
when he was coming up with his style in the band, apparently one day he just has an epiphany and says one word broadway-like: “S O C C E R .”
@@beeking1227 I think it was Mocky who came up with the idea. Canadian singer.
did vulfpeck just contribute to the fan base's collection of vulfpeck x rap song mashups
Natalie Vuong holy shit
Someone needs to make it!
And did it way better than anyone has so far.
where can i get others??
Oh snap - that mashup!
I shit you not, I listened to every single one of these masterpieces today already. Am I dead?! Is this what love is?
That part about yom kipper was hilarious
I bloody love these videos. I was only thinking last night how I need another one if these trinity vids in my life
Why am I seeing this only now?
How could I live without this knowledge until now?
Thanks vulf. My life is new again.
I'm glad Jack thanked the Trinity academy for his future endeavors, truly a humble man =)
Thank you for the wonderful things you create
Awesome plain and simple, nice to hear him give such props to the influences of Vulf!
Bro I'm dying for a full mashup of 1612 and 99 problems, call it 1612 problems, make it happpppeeennnn
this is one of the most incredible things I've seen for decades. This is coming from a guy that used to produce crosby stills and nash records.
I am humbled. All I can say is... thank you Jack Stratton.
This may be funny to some, but to me clearly explains your mission. Thank you for your service, Jack. You have changed my life.
- stephen barncard - no longer mesmerized by click tracks.
this dude really put himself in the Trinity of Funk...
he deserves it, thanks Jack :)
This is strangely wonderful and educational. I love it.
Jack totally deserves to be in there, one of the best doing it right now
I adore "holy trinities" thank you for this genius informative stuff !
i cant even find words to describe how good this is
Jack baby, I've been around for a year now, I've loved every single video you guys put out because it's not JUST good sounds it's good MUSIC you go in depth you analyze you explain WHY things sound good. Maybe it's easier for people who have been brought up around reading sheet music and appreciating subtleties in arrangements. I am by no means trying to toot my own horn all I am is a choir nerd but sightreading comes to us all differently. I'm rambling
What I really want to get across is that I'm really sad I couldn't make the show here in LA and I hope you guys announce something soon. You're a constant source of inspiration and you've pumped me up for many many days of work and I just can't thank all of you enough.
i could listen to these for hours man
this is one if the best videos on yt imo
This is one of my favorite video on YT
The Genius never ends. Always hilarious. great talking points
THE PEOPLE WANT MORE HOLY TRINITIES, JACK.
that funky side-step move, tho! lol, that's priceless.. I'm dyin ^.^
This series is the best
that 4th member of the trinity seems pretty sick
good sick, like "sick!" or like, unwell?
This video is perfect.
Jack that trinity series better not be over now, i like those breaks and pauses
You seem to be excelling in your capabilities mr Jack Stratton. You are a transcendental human and I am on to you!
i replay that intro like 10 times a day and laugh just as hard its so random hilarious. its yam kipur im on an empty stomach riiight
The spacing in the delivery plus the editing is very funny
This is the best one yet.
We need another one!
Please continue.👌🙏
I love this band

That little jigga mashup at three end. Yum. All of it. Yum.
Congrats on getting Wes Anderson to direct!

great! thank you!
Vulf go deanna!!!!!
thank you very much!!!!!
I’m not sure what’s going on and I’m loving it
it's yum kipper, high expectations
Is the lead sheet you show for "I Want You Back" an original from the session/written by Alphonso? Where did you find it?
yes! i emailed larry mizell and he sent a pdf. was written for gladys knight -- great interview: www.redbullmusicacademy.com/lectures/mizell-brothers-sky-high-brothers
Does that same Larry Mizell own a music shop in Maryland?
Awesome!
It must be noted that Larry & Fonce productions were anything but low track counts come the mid 70s and on.
Take a typical song such as "Fantasy". Drums, bass, Rhodes electric piano, congas, guitar 1, percussion FX, guitar 2, acoustic piano, flute, Clavinet, violin, vocals, Solina strings, Hammond organ, horns. That's likely all squeezed onto 16 tracks (maybe 24 track) at Fantasy Studios. That's a lot of real estate :D
perfection
99 Problems over 1612 is a mashup I need to be released everywhere.
made my night
beautifully done mayne
I return to this video in times of sorrow, in need of guidance
HOLY TRINITIES /// Groove Bassists
1. Chuck Rainey (The Young Rascals/Aretha Franklin/Steely Dan)
2. James Jamerson (The Temptations/Stevie Wonder/The Four Tops/Marvin Gaye)
3. Bootsy Collins (Parliament-Funkadelic/Bootsy’s Rubber Band/Deee-Lite)
For the second time, there is a 4th member of the trinity: Joe Dart (Vulfpeck/Theo Katzman)
Honorable Mentions: Carol Kaye (Phil Spector/Beach Boys), Larry Graham (Sly & The Family Stone/Graham Central Station), Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads/Tom Tom Club), Donald “Duck” Dunn (Booker T. and The MG’s/Blues Brothers)
With those Videos of Jack's it's always like there's an In-Joke somewhere that i'm not in on, but still find hilarious.
Keep it up dude. LOVE IT
This channel is a thing I've been missing in my life.
damn, thanks for the info on that bass tone.
The intro is the best part of this video
This might be my favorite Vulf Product... ever
Jack, we're gonna need you to do the full mashup.
one of the pioneers of minimal funk in the contemporary era
You're doing great Jack. Keep going.
i love jack stratton
I fucking love this!! Minimalism for the masses, I say!!!!!

Nailed it.
Preach it, Brother. Brilliant observations and brilliant dead pan presentation! Get it, Jack. What is that FUNKY ass song at the end!?
the guy on the other line really gets me
CHALK IT DOWN - Thank you Jack
Now that's a noble vow to live by, Jake. :-)
This is IMPORTANT!!!
im so glad i heard about vulf from the poundcast
I learned a lot today
Jack you are my Hero.
Jack stratton is awesome
Our man, Stratton.
Fonce Mizell later teamed up with his brother Larry to form the Mizell Brothers. Before writing music, Larry was working for NASA inventing the liquid crystal display.
As the Mizell Brothers they produced/arranged albums for Blue Note during the big jazz funk era of the 70s for artists such as Donald Byrd (the Blackbyrds is essentially the Mizell Brothers w/ Byrd), Bobbi Humphrey, Johnny Hammond Smith, and Gary Bartz.

This is why Ebony Magazine named Jews as honorary members of the black community.
Its like the whitest end of the spectrum bends around to the blackest.
