nubbyboy24 - I'm not sure how detailed you'd like me to get. I can say that every facet of each percussive instrument is incredibly complicated.... Aaaaand I'm not giving free triangle lessons today. ;)
I was playing as a percussionist in an ensemble (played the drums + xylophone + many different smaller percussion instruments), and I can confirm. They seem so simple compared to the "big" instruments like piano, drums, violin etc. Of course, you pick them up much more quickly, but there is much more to it than people think who aren't musicians. To play a shaker for instance requires quite some practice, the sound is a bit delayed and you have to be able to quickly switch from one movement to another one. Plus, to play a big piece of music requires a huge amount of focus and dedication, even if your sheet only consists of quarters and pauses. And the tamburine is way more nuanced than a shaker.
I spoke with Jack some time ago. At that meeting, he promised a bass trilogy in exchange for some confidential info on tambourines. As of yet, the trade is one-sided.
The visual style, direction, writing, humor, information, music, art direction, acting, narration, effects, everything is just superb in these videos. I could binge watch a whole season of holy trinities.
Someone please forward this to Netflix. Netflix needs good music content that isn't "So the track was as great but missing something so I says try the wah wah Jimi and and that was how Voodoo Chile happened." FFS.
Luke Darcy in pretty much every live performance they do when they perform Christmas in LA, they split the audience into 3: tenor, alto, soprano, and get them to sing the words "In LA" at the different notes to make a 3 part harmony
Honorable mention to Billy Martin. Best tambourinist I've ever seen. Check out Billy Martin Clinic PASIC 2011. Tambourining starts just shy of 6 minute mark.
I have been told I have a pretty dry sense of humor and half the time people that don't me on a personal level become really confused and don't know how to handle it. I have to remember to force a smirk or something to let them know everything is fine and that I'm not being serious. I guess I just have a really dead face when making light of situations. Even some of my closer friends second guess themselves every once in a while. I can tell Jack probably deals with these problems as well. Catches you off guard for sure lol
I went in skeptical of how substantially one tambourine player could be considered greater than another and then that Sandra Crouch tambourine solo had me cackling in spiritual ecstasy. I have much to learn from this man.
I want to hear a Holy Trinity of Theremin players by Joe Dart ... I think I've never heard his voice now that I think about it ... Mysterious but lovely man on the Fender bass.
what's crazy about 2:10 is I bet Jack was playing the tambo along in his head (with no accompaniment track) and playing completely. on. beat. That's musicianship right there.
A lot of folks don't know it, but Sandra Crouch is the fraternal twin sister of the legendary, late Andrae Crouch (and the Disciples). If you want to hear one of the greatest gospel groups ever, get your hands on some Andrae Crouch and the Disciples, the band you saw in this video with Sandra. Andrae sang/wrote songs and played the piano and organ.
this video made me think about how fun it would be to laugh out loud to a video on youtube.com so then because i was thinking about how fun it would be so hard I did. Thank you.
Some people may be watching this thinking, "is this satire?". Let me tell you about the 4-hour triangle clinic that I once attended.....
I'm enthralled. Go on...
caffeineadvocate please please continue

...I'm sure you'll finish the story when your Abel.

"You've got to study both, i can't do either"
Words to live by
That legit got a guffaw out of me, the timing is impeccable
fast forward about a year: Jack gets Sandra Crouch on a Fearless Flyers track.
Nobody can assemble a rhythm section like Jack.
I want to be Jack. He's got the look, he's got the talent, he doesn't care what others think. He's Jack Stratton.
Like you said, he's the perfect Jack because he owns being the Jack. Nobody can do Corn Bread better than you lol
Trust me, he cares what you think.
He's also got heartfelt lyrics.
Stop watching this soldier a red spy is in the base

@@HBCrigs YOU’RE NOT VERSATILE
Jack strattons in depth knowledge of both music history and production blows my mind.
And it's things like this that are why we love Vulf with all of our heart.
jack stratton is all you've ever wanted to be and more
I have scientific evidence that Jack Stratton's favorite song is "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5. More tests are needed to be certain.
that's a good song
Holy Trinity vulf moments:
Joe Dart on the fender bass
3 part live harmonies on Christmas in L.A.
Jack Dancing on a field.
Victor Soldano I'm sorry but what do you mean by the second one
Luke Darcy go to a live performance
Luke Darcy in pretty much every live performance they do when they perform Christmas in LA, they split the audience into 3: tenor, alto, soprano, and get them to sing the words "In LA" at the different notes to make a 3 part harmony
This was hilarious. Absolutely beautiful production and editing too. Awesome job.
ROB STENSON
I thought he was just a banjo player
2017 was a good year for tambourine videos.
Jack, your silly creativity never ceases to amaze me. Keep it up brother.
I'm gonna need a full version of that game winner cover immediately
Just when you didn't think you could love jack any more than you already did
Jack is an American treasure.
No I claim him for whole humanity
THAT GAME WINNER A CAPELLA good lord
Seriously one of their best songs

OMG that slow, 80s synth Tambourine Man outro... :-O
Show some respect here. It's MR. Tambourine Man to you.
Sadly it took me almost a minute before I could figure out what the melody i was recognizing was.
Alex Wight yeah, sounded like Devo. I loved it!
Is this man simply a genius?
this band gives me hope in the american music tradition
Jack is like every one of us grade 5 kids that just discovered how to make films and upload them to CZcams. Except he never stopped
Holy shit please keep this series going
Fantastic! A transcendent tambourine epiphany... thank you Jack & co.
Honorable mention. Bill withers and quite possible his grandmother

I want to hear a Holy Trinity of Theremin players by Joe Dart ... I think I've never heard his voice now that I think about it ... Mysterious but lovely man on the Fender bass.
Thoroughly entertaining and absolutely wonderful, please make more of these

I REALLY want this to be a series, cause I need more of this in my life.
This was fantastic and unexpected and I sincerely hope theres more videos like these.
This is my most favorite video of all time ever.
Legend has it Jack plugged a MIDI cable into his urethra and the holy trinities were uploaded directly to CZcams
Gross.
Love the warbly synth-rendition of Mr. Tambourine Man at the end.
legitimately beautiful, wow
ah the tambourine, so easy to play, so difficult to master. Can you do one for the Triangle?
Your music is the music of my ear drums. It beats in unison with my soul.
Gotta love these dudes.
I absolutely loved watching this video. Dope AF.
Mr. Tambourine Man at the end loooool
Brilliant. Truly brilliant.
I just can watch it every day

Do me one Holy Trinities of the Cajon. A fun instrument that doesn't get enough appreciation
Magical, insightful, funny. Looking forward to the tour. :)
The Mr. Tambourine Man outro was a clever touch. :)
Both of the Holy Trinity videos are 8:08 long. Gotta love that 808!!
These are awesome. Do them often.
Ahhhh jack is so endearing in everything he does
This is the best joke ever for about 10sec.
Life is relatively short yet so much more to learn than I could have ever imagined. 🤔
Cool version of Hey Mr Tambourine Man at the end!
Gotta mention Joel Gion from Brian Jonestown Massacre. One of the hypnotic greats.
