    Anneke is THE MOTHER OF ALL the female metal and gothic vocals..... yes It Is

    • @geuseliohulk8661
      @geuseliohulk8661 Před 3 lety +6

      Kari was the first (and the inspiration for Tuomas) in the band The Third and The Mortal (folk, melodic doom, atmospheric) in the 93 demo, the same year that The Gathering released Always (death) with vocalist Marike Groot.
      In 94 the Theater of Tragedy (here we find the roots of most bands, doom, death, gothic and atmospheric keyboards) launched the demo with the beauty and the beast style, Liv on vocals.
      Sorry for the big text, but it was good for exercising the memory. Of course, I mentioned the dates of the albums, so the world can get to know these bands, before only a few people were the performances.

      Possibly noteworthy that Kari, Liv and Anneke spent some energy on a collaboration called 'The Sirens' for a few years performing their combined best songs of those early 'goth/melodic/atmospheric' metal days. :)

    What you're seeing at the end is most of the vocalists that have ever been in The Gathering. Anneke is easily the most important and longest running, but the dude and shortest girl were the vocalists on the band's debut, and the girl on the far left is the current vocalist. I personally love all the band's eras.

Three singers: Bart and Marike (pre-Anneke) and Silje (post-Anneke). And two guitarists: Jelmer (2nd guitar in first decade) and Marjolein (bass in last decade).

    They did this show for celebrate the 25 aniversary of the band with all the member involved in their history. At the end, to of the former vocalist didn't do it, but most of them were there. I were there too!!! A dozen of mexicans and lots of people from Chile, Argentina, USA, Japan, Australia and all over Europe traveled to Holland to see those shows. The Band only have aviability of one day for playing the show, because most of them have regular jobs, but since the tickets sold out in minutes, they opened an extra show for the same day (matinee and night show were called). We went to both of course, and in this song for the night show, a lot of people were in tears, because we knew it would be the last time we listened to this song with all of them.
    Anneke has a great voice, but she has never done something as great as what they did together. By the way, it's not an Anneke song, she wrote the lyrics and the vocals melody, but the music was writen by Rene and Frank, I asume they wrote the music inspired in space travel (is the theme of the studio album), and maybe that's why the name of the song is Travel.

    The first woman to join her - the one with short hair - was the first singer with The Gathering when they formed in 1989. She was basically back-up. In 1994 Anneke was hired. In 2007 Anneke announced she would be leaving the group to have a baby and start a solo career. The woman with long hair replaced her in 2007. The guy also was a singer. There was also, old and new bass players. The concert TG25 is a 25th anniversary concert (2014) Anneke's final tour with them was filmed in Chile in 2007. It's called, A Noise Severe. And it is phenomenal. I am always surprised that no one reacting to 'Travel' comments about the visual use in the background. It is the Space Shuttle disaster. Watch it in their 2005 live concert 'A Sound Relief.' Very melancholy. Everyday a different Gathering song plays in my head. Today it was 'Alone.' Yesterday it was 'Broken Glass.' What's your Gathering 'song-loop' today?

    Thanks for diving into this ... and fortunately you were focussed enough to experience the epic vocal performance after your n minute clowning about at the start ... which did kinda tick me off tbh. Glad Jon also appreciated the quality and intensity of the composition and arrangement. The Gathering and Anneke produced 6+ highly acclaimed albums that are all worthy of listening in their entirety imo. Their landmark first album together 'Mandylion' (1995) and the ones following, inspired scores of bands and singers like Floor and Tuomas from Nightwish, Anathema, Devin Townsend, Within Temptation and Evanescence. They never abided to the commercial mores of what and where to play and how to dress, which may have made them kinda undisclosed to many and still relatively underappreciated. Thanks to channels like this and your patreons this is now gradually changing fortunately.

    there's a song from the same concert called King For A Day where 2 of the other singers sang the entire song. its much heavier than most of the songs that they sang during that concert. its pretty impressive. i dont wanna give too much away but the vocals on that one are completely different from this one :D

      Aye. Danny Cavanagh and Anneke combined forces to produce a breathtaking album & acoustic tour together: 'In Parallel'. Many songs from The Gathering and Anathema delivered with stardust by those two musical magicians. Plenty of footage on YT.

    Dont know why everytime theres an Anneke video there has to be someone who bring up Floor. The Gathering and Nightwish are so different you cant really compare.

      Without Anneke, Floor wouldn't be on the path she's on now. We should all be grateful for that. I don't know why you have to adopt such a tone in relation to Floor. It's unnecessary.

      I swear there is nothing more annoying. Every video I see with Anneke, she has this 'inspired Floor' thing attached to her. It's insulting to me, she is a unique treasure and a gift to humanity, and she should be known as herself, the Floor 'attachment' bugs the hell out of me. And sorry, not sorry, but Floor will never be her, she is leagues above anyone in her field. Yes, I did say that.
