Always, ALWAYS love Anneke! I saw The Gathering twice back when they were touring to support their album "Home". I even got the band members to all sign my guitar strap, so cool! Anneke was warm and joyful when I met her after the show, she seems to light up a room whenever she's there.
Have you guys reacted to "Waking Hour" yet? Same concert, the 25th anniversary (tg25). The message of that song helped me through a tough time. I'd rank it in my top 5 TG songs, maybe even top 3.
(P.S., her name, as far as I know, is pronounced like "AH-nuh-ka". Doesn't matter much, but in case you were interested, there it is)

Love how she yells at the end, "Take cover!" The highlights for me about The Gathering ruinging these years are the lyrics. And she usually plays guitar performing this song. Check out the 2007 concert, where there is a stadium full of fans who sing along. At one point during "Saturnine' she stops singing and the audience finishes the song for her...Also, watch the 2005 concert. The song 'Rescue Me' is clearly a love song like no other.

The sound at the venue was as great as the final mix you can lisent here. The reason this song and travel sound this good is because she was part of this band. That's why "Always..." is a terrific album too, and The West Pole and Disclosure have great songs in there. Her voice is amaizing, but it sounds waaaay better when she sings with this guys, and when she sings their songs.

Anneke is amazing. I saw her live with Devin Townsend (the Retinal Circus gig) and her performance was absolutely stunning. I personally think her most touching vocal work was with Árstíðir. The album they made together is one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. Their rendition of "Danny boy" can make the most hardened people well up

Now that's the powerful vowel flexing the fans know her to master and adore her for. And the exquisite swag she had in her all along even before Devin and Arjen helped her develop it after her Gathering years.
Whether you call this prog rock or melodic metal, she shows all them 'metal scream queens' how you actually do it, and without the usual dress-up bullshit going with the regular 'power and symph metal'. Her and The Gathering deserve so much more wide spread attention for tracks like this, ... and 'Analog Park', 'Sand and Mercury', 'Black Light District' and 'Probably built in the 50s' and, and ... :^)
And yes, this audio recording was very well done. I feel they deserved the best engineers and producers anyway.

Most Dutch named are pronounced wrong 😶 it is not Annakey but Annekuh and it is not seamone Simmons but Simonuh Seamons. It is not Gloor Jensen but Floor Jaansen.
It is not the correct spelling but how you pronounced it.
