i used this advice and saved my team in my debut the fullback sent a lob pass to the winger and i took 2 steps forward 1 step back then i saw that the winger was looking down and entered the box and had a heavy touch so i just went all in and got the ball but my nose was almost broken it was bleeding but i still continued the match
The guy is trying to say, if he’s got the ball under control don’t smother it but if the ball is loose the goalkeepers must smother it I can’t stand these keepers that wait for the shot to happen

That first touch, long touch, or missed handle into the box from the forward I would've already smothered the ball away from his foot before he even had the time to think about striking the ball. It becomes a mental game, it makes the forward think twice before running into the box. It makes them start to think more about when they are going to strike and look down at his feet and not realize I'm already closing in. Limit the angle, make the shot harder by making that window go from 75% down to 25%.

@@ModernDayGK you put it in a way of understanding the vid does not show that,, and not sure if you know of an old Russian goalkeeper called Yashin but he knew my grandfather and taught him and my grandfather taught me but i guess Ederson and the like are more modern football but the best way to throw a striker off guard is as soon as they pick up the ball in the box or whatever pressure them and then its up to them to shoot in the time you give them till you reach them and kick the ball away or pick it up.
