  • Mental health in the construction industry is important to me because I have first-hand experience of the impact the construction industry has on my own mental health and that of people I work with. The supply chain disruption since Covid and the uncertainty it causes has lead to many in the construction industry feeling overwhelmed. The stress has been too much for some of us. I have been hospitalized due to stress and have seen others suffer mental breakdowns. I don't know the solution but I suspect talking about it is the first step.

Really good video, it's a great point to recognize the isolation that a lot of people in the industry go though, often overlooked. I know even for myself as a sole subcontractor I can sometimes spend a whole week not seeing anyone or having anyone to talk to. If it wasn't for audibooks I would certainly have gone mad by now.

I hear you. My wife notices me talking to myself sometimes, especially when stressed. The scary thing is I don’t realise I’m doing it.
