- These engines do not have pistons and connecting rods like conventional internal combustion engines (remember the old Mazda RX7's?). It took me a bit to figure out how and what to put them on .... this is the result. They are mfd. by O.S. and spin a 9x6 APC prop at about 16,000 RPM and will hopefully perform even better when fully broke in.
The aircraft is an A 26 Invader I picked up at a swap meet in Perry and seems to be a good match up for these Wankels. - Věda a technologie
Their Throttle response is spectacular.
It's amazing how well those engines are phased
I'm 4 years late but,
that's an awesome sounding wankel! Specially on idle
I am 4 more years late but,
that's still an awesome sounding wankel!
That looks so cool. I'd love to own one of these, but I'd hate the stress of worrying about crashes. RC trucks are much more likely to survive hitting a tree. ;)
CreatorHunter There are plenty of airplane enthusiasts who feel the same way about RC cars. Too many things to crash into on the ground, lots more space up in the air. It all depends on what sorts of problems you're more confident you can avoid.
CreatorHunter I've talked to several online. They're usually older, and they know how to fab parts for airplanes from scratch using wood, glue, and heatshrink. Fabbing parts for cars from scratch requires at least a 3D printer, and more likely a machine-shop if plastic parts aren't going to be strong enough, so you're pretty much stuck buying pre-made parts -- at a healthy markup, of course.
I used to live right next to a rc fly club and every one there's very helpful bassicly if ur new to the hobby they buddy you transmitter for example they plug two together the more experienced pilot takes full control so he will tack off and land but when he is up high and your ready to have a feel he will press a toggle switch on his remote and then ur remote will have full control, any think bad happens they will take back over
But I went through a few but when ur in that club some one is all ways selling something I got given so much stuff for free old stuff but it still worked and saved me a lot of up front costs
It's a valid concern. Every plane I've owned and flown I've crashed eventually. Usually repairable but eventually they get "retired". They all have an expiration date. That being said, it's an awesome hobby! I took a ten year hiatus and getting back into it
Nice job! It's surprisingly direct in terms of response. You were flying it like an airforce pilot, good work.
9 ppl disliked this sweet ass rc bird..?????? jealous or ...? how could anyone dislike, confused.
+Jimi Harper because there are Democrats and Obama supporter.
+Rasmy Sengsourya haha
Stuff em all, big or small lol ;-)
Ouch
When I grow up, I want to be just like you! AWESOME flight on my personal favorite of planes.
Really good job flying it, I enjoyed watching it, thank you.
Beautiful, great job, thanks. Built a U control B25 with twin .049 cox once. Adapted a Guillows kit beefed it up. Flew great. Yours kicks that way way up. understand the satisfaction. Those OS engines are super!
Holy shit! that flies like a P-51! Amazing build to keep it together with those G turns.
those Wankles sound amazing!
awesome !
and beautifully flown Captain !
SKILL... Good job! Beautiful ROTARY sound the way it was meant to be heard!
Insane twin Wankel sound...and what a power!! Great clip!!
That sounds so awesome!
superbe le bruit des rotatifs!!!! beau vol, bon pilotage stable et fluide!!!
Sounds awesome!
mate, that is bloody awesome, I have never seen a roll on a go a round before.
I have the same VQ A26 with a couple of ASP 4 bangers and also a os Wankel in a edge 540.
You rock !
This is a Wankel Engine. Awesome.
that's awesome, I just love the sound of the twin engines
Great piloting skills!!
This is the only video where a Wankel rotary engine has ever been presented as a useful form of propulsion.
m'kay
Shite b8 m8 I r8 1/8
Flying doritos of doom
😂
thats awesome! great landing too!
You came up with a great match!
Awesome power
Sounds awesome!!!
Love that sound!
Its not an amazing plane with excellent engines, that was an awesome plane's drive 😎😎😎
I have an OS Wankel on an old 'Blue Max'. It runs super nice and really winds up. They are real gas pigs though. Lots of power but lots of mess too. I love mine.
Damn, I'm loving it, badass sounding lol
Awesome plane and engines too
That's freaking awesome
Great video! Thank you!
Sounds like mad mikes mazdas lol plus the rotary is amazing I own an rx8 and by far more exciting than the piston engine a 1.3 231 bhp that's technology thanks to Felix wankel never forget where is came from at the very beginning :)
Brapapap
Don't run it past 3k rpm when it is cold. I sold my rx8 ( regret it) :( still have my rx7 :D if you want your engine to last long, you should look into premix for the fuel. Helps lubricate the engine directly when you have the oil and fuel already premixed.
So Awesome!!!
Rotary engines..Way cool!! They look and sound sweet. They are certainly making that plane boogie too.
Cool plane - definately not lacking power!!
love it and great work!!! love my RX8 :)
pretty darn cool man wish I had a you like that
The OS wankel looked absolutely great behind a scale cowling . I had one in a simi scale AT-6 . Was going to put 4 in my B-17 but at just over 600 bucks kinda put the hurts to this project . At 1 1/4 HP per motor they were powerful but drink gas like a 60 . Still looked pretty cool even with a custom made exhaust I made .
Nice sound
Great sound at idle.
Really cool! I didn't know they made wankels for rc. They sure have a distinct sound to them. :-)
Hello Bruce ,I believe these are the MK1. Had to run the top end 1000 rpm from peak to keep cool resulting in a rich idle (don't atttempt flight at near peak rpm) . Also had pressure nipple on custom muffler/ pipe that may effect idle as well. Big tank is a good idea as these are thirsty monsters. Thanks for viewing
Best RC plane ever!
im making my own combustion engine plane, I learned how to make the engine, now to attach a propeller to it and wings!
Awesome plane! The twin wankles seem to bne perfect for it.
just awesome
very cool
Cool stuff. The way the engines would slightly fade in and out of sync was interesting.
By the time they get broken in, it may be time to replace the seals.
Awesome !
Those little motors can crank out One horsepower each.. I saw one at a hobby shop years ago. At idle, they sound like motorcycle engines..Way cool.
Lovely!
awesome!
awesome phone , it flew like a dragon fly
Cool. I'm planning to use these engines on a DC-3. Question, which you've utilixou out the exhaust? And tested with the original furnace and the exhaust changed to know if there was a difference in the quality of service or loss of power?
11 out of 10
perfection
I'm glad you had your steel capped socks on....
This looks like a great engine for ducted fan applications.
ther sound good!
Good skills bud, what size fuel tanks are you using? and which model wankle are they? I have just finished setting up a GP fun fly Corsair with the mk 1. It has no fuel pressure nipple on exhaust, and the carb is pretty basic- no idle mix or the trumpet that the mk 2 has. I changed tank to 10 oz- this may have been OTT. Cant seem to get a reliable low idle. Thanks for posting
That thing can scoot!!
Nice
Surprised that plane didn't split in two.
Very Nice friend. I look two of this engines new or used for one peojevt my. Do you know who or when I find those engines for buy? Thanks
Super...
What props? And how much does your model weigh? Thinking of these for big PBY I have. Awesome job!
Amazing. 5 yrs late, but If I could, I tried little bigger propelers.
plane goes braapp braapp stu tut tu
Very nice plane! Question. What is the material of de escape made for these Os wankel???
Hello. thanks for viewing. The exhaust was fabricated from copper tubing. Normally this copper would break from vibration but these engines are exceptionally smooth running with very little vibration. The performance was enhanced a bit as this exhaust was less restricted than the original mufflers (and a bit louder). These motors have one downfall being that they are very thirsty for fuel. The rotary .30 does however turn an APC 9x6 prop near 16000 RPM making it as powerful as most .40 cid nitro motors. Good luck with your DC 3 (put big fuel tanks in it)
Good
thats a decent sized plane… would one of those be sufficient for a 71" spitfire ??
Dont get why they discontinued these... they are epic!
Gives me leave to wonder what a pair of these would do on a RC Dornier 335
I found another contender for Nemesis Prime's Deceptobot army.
How are the propellers started....what is that device used to start propellers
awesome video. rotary power all the way lolol
sounds awesome
Отличный пилот!
yes. RPM around 16000.
Just the airframe. I dont need motor- servos-radio etc. How much for just the shell? It is going to be hung as a static display for a Friend of mine that flew A-26's. needless to say he is pretty old now And I've been looking for one for a while. I live in the San Fran bay area. :-) thanks for the reply!!!!
cool.. what fuel u has use?
These engines are modified without the original exhaust mounts. I'm wondering how you did the assembly with the new exhausts? Because there is no screw to fasten it. Did you glue the pipes to the engine?
Made copper pipe fit into exhaust hole then drilled and tapped holes for screws to hold it in place.
VQ isn't it? Those engines sing :-)
Is that the VQ A26?
Have some spare MkII OS Wankels and looking for a twin to use them. Originally was going in a Kyosho PBY Catalina, but would be too much for that model - it flies well on two SC 12's. Imagine 2 OS 30 Wankels!
Looks like it
What rpm 's are they running at?
super moteur ,super avion
wow :D
what is its body made of???? and where to buy it ?
Fucker looks fast too, zoom zoom!
👍😎🙏
Very Nice. I need two of this engines for mount in my DC-3. I still look but don't find to buy
Am building one myself I want try it on a bigger aircraft
@z3 k
I'd look for a pair of RCV engines 4 cycle with built in 2:1 gear reduction scale size prop with a huge pitch
@@russcole5685 those engines was original made with reduction with RCV? I never heard
@@RBAERO czcams.com/video/Pax8_kOVDhY/video.html
Hey, look! A mini 13B engine!
traelo para Puerto Rico Que lo ponen a volar como Jet
that soundS a lot like a 13B got that rotary brap
Very nice plane and great flight but man our safty officer would have your head on a platter at our field if he saw you reving those engines with you in front of it, you always stad behind your plane when reving engines, commen safty sense
what happen if one engine die in mid air! Does the model lose control and crash?? I have been wanting to have a twin engine but I'm very apprehensive that the pull of one of the engines would literally make it crash! I'm not that experienced on this kind of emergencies!
You get asymmetrical thrust. If you're going fast enough, the rudder will have enough authority to make the plane fly straight. If you slow down, not so much--you get a snap-roll toward the dead engine. So slow at high power is right out. Most people that fly RC twins just lower the throttle and land, simulating a dead-stick landing, if one engine dies.
OS glow-engines? : )
