This song speaks to me differently today. I'm not entirely sure why. When I listen to this song, I see myself in both sides of the story. I'm the person I wish I could get out of the suffering. I tell myself that things won't change unless I make it so but it doesn't seem to make me want to do so. I have moments where I'm in incredible emotional pain and I'm not entirely sure why at times. I was born with ADHD and the memory aspect drives me insane so I tell myself perhaps I just forgot the reason and the emotion still remains. I tell myself to just push past it and keep trying harder and harder to succeed. This song gives me a shimmer of hope every now and then.

This is an amazing song. What's it about? Or who is it about?
+Evan Faraday Etf just writes music you can relate to. No one specific, unless it is about the time Max Green was struggling with drugs. It was hard on Craig because they are best friends. Or possibly about Monte because he is not the person he used to be. Kind of a jerk now. Considering he was in the band from the beginning, it's probably tough to loose him as a friend.
Actually there's a video here on Louder Noise where Craig says that their friends from Papa Roach sent them the song and when they read it, they HAD to put it in this album! and Robert said it's about all the people we love but want to hate because it's hurting them, and about all the people we love but also wanna hate because they drag and pull us down!

NoMan No I do wish they would have put more of an ETF-feel to it instead of keeping it mostly Papa Roach but it turned out well enough and I enjoyed it.
They are trying to find something that works since they just lost two guys that pretty much wrote everything music-wise since This War Is Ours, that's a massive blow to a band, believe me. I've been there more than once in my own bands.
It's an enjoyable album, and I like it, but I do agree that it feels like different bands just with Craig on vocals. The only song that felt like TWIO-post was Alive in my opinion.
I'm not surprised at the experimentation given the fact that Monte is gone, the sound he created for them made them stand out but nothing stays the same forever, this is a needed album to find something that works given the creative gap left by Monte. The next album will probably be more consistent in style given how experimental and all over the place this was.
I'm pretty sure the vocalist of papa roach co-wrote the song...
+Bernie Kobner P.Roach wrote the song for the most part and gave ETF the song if I remember correctly.
ETF MUST DISAPPEAR LIKE A BAND FOR THESE REASONS.
1) THEY FELL INTO ROUTINE
2) THE ORIGINAL FORMATION WAS BROKEN , THE DRUMMER IS THE ONLY EXCEPTION
3) CRAIG MABBIT NEED TO BE IN FORM, NOW HE'S A FATHER AND NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE.
4) THIS KIND OF MUSIC IS TO TEENAGERS, THEY'RE SO ... LOOK LIKE A PARENTS
5) I HEAR THAT BAND 10 YEARS AGO AND NOW I THINK THEY MUST CHOOSE ANOTHER PATH
