I'll let you guys in on a little secret ... I've competed in combat sports for over half a decade (Kickboxing and Muay Thai). I took a lot of pride in how technical my game was. My technique, precision, timing and arsenal of strikes made me a pain in the ass even while sparring guys who were much bigger than me, but for some reason the hardest, most frustrating sessions I had were against someone of lower rank and of the same size. I outclassed him in most facets of the game, but his style was so damn weird that he completely nullified me. Sometimes weirdness is an asset, as it messes up not only an opponents plans, but their whole way of doing things and that's a tricky trap to get out of. I can only imagine how infuriating it must be at the highest level and believe it was the reason why Till and Brunson gave up eventually. They were trapped and couldn't get out.
