Theirs exceptions to this rule tho. When dana knows fighters are better then they are and are being ducked by the rest of the division, you cant only up their ranking when they fight higher ranked people, because if not theyll never increase in rank lol. For example for a while besides cory no one wanted to fight umar, but he finished the few who did or dominated em and got a ranking spot. Khamzat became ranked at MW by beating a welterweight, he got ranked because they knew how good he was, other fighters who arent ducked as much have options to fight more ranked opponents and therefore can be ranked better but those that dont whoever dana and em view as much higher level den their opponents they get rewards. I mean islam finished charles in 2 rounds, so danas insight was correct lol

No lol dana pushes em high and forces ranked guys and champs to test em see their level. When unranked henry cejudo came back and lost to aljo he got ranked at 135. Doesnt matter who you beat if your dominant your inevitable khabib was the same was meant to get his shot much sooner too

@@Ptheplug39 Henry was a former champion at bantamweight he was only not ranked for inactivity. Usually after 3-5 wins you can become ranked and then move up only a little for beating unranked guys. Khabib at least could say he beat a top 5 opponent before getting the shot. Islam never did, his best win was Dan hooker. Many people beat Thiago Moises more impressively than Islam did. All you had at that point was the name value and Javier Mendez hype stories not actual high level wins. If Umar beats Chris Gutierrez he shouldn’t get jumped up to top 5. You can argue he should move up 1-2 spots for it that’s it.

@@nasvsan6191 I think that the meritocracy of one division shouldn't be taken into consideration to the same strength in another division. If a fighter does good work in one division, everything he does shouldn't carry over to the next. It's taken into consideration when ranking but he has to get a few fights in before he's ranked as high as you believe he is. Meritocracy, which doesn't actually exist in the ufc but let's pretend it does for a second. BUT! To be fair, Max probably does deserve to be #2 just based on all of the b.s. ranking the ufc has done in the past. That's why everyone who knows anything considers the ufc ranking complete trash anyway. It's like they need a soft ranking system and a hard ranking system. They have these guys who beat low level guys and bust into the top 10 of the rankings based on buzz. Then we have guys who beat legit contenders and savvy veterans who bust into the top 10. There's a huge difference between those 2 fighters which the ufc fails to address.
