I love the theme and the non levelling system. Narrative wise, the heroes are already at their strongest. The training montage is done. They come in as heroes and leave every night as exhausted heroes
Great premise, but tragic execution.
@@kosterix123 agree to disagree
@@markalexandermaron5531 totally. That's what social media are for ;-) I hope you will enjoy the hell out of SaW and Swords!
@@kosterix123 thanks for the well wishes. I understand, some games are just not for everybody
I like the eight sided. We definitely need to mix it up away from always 6 sided dice in tabletop, it’s starting to dull my senses. I like the “keep the fire burning” vibe, very instinctual and compelling. I’m hoping you’re going to say this is a solo game, seems like a natural for it. I noticed Man vs. Meeple just put out a review of this. I like the ordered attack mechanics in the game and then have them “move into the light” to be revealed, quite thematic actually. The exhaust feature (sit out a turn) seems pretty clever as well.
I was surprised about your complaint, I’m intrigued about controlling all four characters as a solo game. I’m not usually into at all D&D type games, but this one intrigues me. Def. keep my eye on.
I have no issues controlling more than one character... Did it digitally in Baulder's Gate and then on the table for Sentinels of the Multiverse. Guess its really just down to your tastes regarding how you like to play on that one.
3:20 Bolster says that each adventurer may reroll their lowest die, not any die or multiple dice.
correct, the earlier rules did limit it to lower dice, but they'd tweaked the balance recently so it's all dice they want :)
Hi Rahdo. I saw Spirit Island there in your cupboard but it doesnt have a rating on your Timbal site where you rank your games. Any reason for this or did I just miss it?
i just haven't had a chance to play the final retail copy! :(
It's a very interesting concept. I got 2 problems... I don't like that the 2 players game means each player controls 2 characters. And I also don't like that the box is the board, while clever I would rather have an actual board. That said the concept and mechanics look really interesting!
Interesting. I find the "box as the board" for these small form factor board games nice. Its a cool pack and play aspect that gets people in my group interested when we grow tired of the table sprawl from the larger games we play.
WOW! You got a copy! It’s been three years and backers still haven’t received pledge rewards.
How did you get so lucky?
this was me filming the prototype
Oh woah 3 years? I ordered the deluxe game last week off their provided site from the original kickstarter page. :(
It didn't matter for the purposes of a rundown, but you didn't do the reveal function for the second Acolyte. It does look like a cool game, but I don't know if I need any more cooperative games right now.
yeah, i was trying to wrap up right then, before i started making goofs :)
Feels like ghost stories.
Yeah, same fundamental problem. That's why nobody ever plays Ghost stories.
@@kosterix123 Whats the fundamental problem you mentioned?
@@MysterJayy too many possible sequences.
How is a treant not a forest creature?? Its a living tree!! Lol
all fear the elusive beach treant!
@@rahdo lol. Ok......
Does the passive ability require a die?
nope. for some reason i almost said it did, but i think i stopped myself :)
What happened to your hand? Hope you're alright.
just scraped it while reaching under a table to get a dog treat out :)
0:34 "Should have done this before filming" The dices was allready there so why roll them at all? This is just a turtorial.
mostly because i like to make it clear that in my runthroughs nothing is pre-set or pre-stacked, and everything i'm showing is genuine unfiltered experience of the game (since i'm not trying to teach how to play the game, but demonstrate what it feels like to play the game) :)
Until the creators start to understand what is wrong with SaW I suggest to save yourself the trouble of buying it or its expansion.
The problem is that 20 faculty can never be tested. The sequence makes or breaks you. Regardless of skill.
Fundamentally flawed design, not to say stupid idea. SaW has not enough agency to fix this.
The worst part is that they recently kickstarted a new version, with exactly the same problem.
"All adventurers on Watch may reroll their lowest die"
*Proceeds to reroll all their dice*
You're not the only person I seen review make this mistake, please read closer.
hmm, i shall respond to your please with a please of my own... please don't jump to conclusions! turns out, the updated rules changed this so it's not lowest dice anymore, but all dice desired. but the prototypes don't have this update on the board...
Ahh good, nice buff.
