Because you weren't wearing the ring on your index finger, your pulse results were never going to be accurate. The artery that goes down your arm continues through your index finger. This is where the strongest pulse would be found. The arteries that go through your other fingers are much smaller and are branches so the pulse is weaker and harder to detect.

@@JustSitAndLaugh I have an Oura ring - they tell you straight up that the best results will be on your index finger… making sure you have the right size will make a difference as well… better a bit too tight than too loose. Likely Shelby’s issues were due to the ring finger and also she might have needed to reset it… i had to do a reset after 3 weeks and after that it started tracking workouts much better. It catches pretty well all my cardio activity, even just going for 15 minute relaxed walks it picks up.

  • @justwordme

Two things not mentioned… you wore it for just one week and it takes one week to get dialed in to you before results become more accurate. There is a sizing kit available for free to dial in which finger to use. Sleep tracking *was* interesting data to capture, used Fitbit device mainly, set the sleep disturbance setting to the less sensitive detection mode. After your video sparked my interest in what some of the past resultant sleep-time recordings were. Located several tracker-generated readings for year 2021, (the last year I used tracker often, battery was becoming weaker, old-device now, but it is light-weight 👍: *Flex2* tracker. -> Saw mostly 3 hours of *asleep* time, more often, than any other number. Few 1-hour asleep nights, (probably my on-call nights for my employer’s - public-service organization). (Everything is a emergency call-out at 2-AM; according to dispatch). 😊 Hope these number provide information that you are not alone in the *low sleep time* department. Without caffeine, not sure how *some* workers can make it through all the days and long nights. Another good video, , thanks again.

The other cool feature about the Oura Ring is that it can also help you track your fertility. Natural Cycle partnered with them and this is the main reason why I want it, sunce I went of birth control a long time ago! I love how lowkey it looks, and i'm already thinking how easy it would be to incorporate into any outfit I would be going for. Especially because I really like wearing traditional watches with my fits, but I also really like wearing a fitness tracker for my steps on a daily basis. Sometimes I'll try to wear both but it really just looks awkward.
Your review for its sleep tracking seemed promising, but then from there....it was like all cons. Bad fitness tracking...i'm assuming no step tracker? not sure if I missed that. And also a subscription service to view your data. ahhh. that killed it for me. That was part of the reason I couldn't buy into the amazon halo as well. I just cannot justify the subscription when the apple watch and fit bit offer all the info I really need for free (only need a subscription for more detailed info).
I really want to like it and get it but, maan, imo not worth it...

I was actually so close to getting one of these, until you mentioned it has a subscription to view your data… $6 a month to view your data?? Why would they do that. If anything make it like $6 a month to view your all time data otherwise it’s free to keep the past 6 months of data or something like that.

I think you should try snorelab can see if you have sleep apnea or something else, I think you should be getting much better sleep. Whatever it is hope you find ways to sleep better! Great vid! Oops maybe I should have waited to I watched it all, still seems you should be able to rest better....

Why track your sleep ? Like what do you do with the information?

I have an Apple Watch, a Halo view and I just purchased the Oura Ring. The Halo did a good job of tracking my sleep, which is awful because I worked swing shifts and night shifts.

Hey! It's been six months! Is it still worth it now that you have to pay the subscription fee? I'm like you in that I only want it to track my sleep.

Try a whoop for a month (first month is free). I find that it is good at tracking sleep and fitness.

Shelby, Have a handful of cherries or a cherry concentrate drink before you go to bed. You'll notice the difference with your sleep!
