However I’ve now decided that I don’t mind paying a small subscription fee to a company that is continuing to research and develop new features for a device that I own. So far this is one of the best videos I've seen on smart rings. I wonder if there is a list for best smart rings for people with severe chronic illness yet, like I have. For me keeping tabs on my health in real time is very important and helpful without having to solely rely on my bulky an *loud* wrist cuff monitor all the time.
This way I can see if something is off an then I have the option to look into it further and use my bulky wrist/finger readers to be sure on whats up with my stats.
An yes I got a smart watch but I struggle with them. I don't really like anything heavy round my wrist and break out easy with them. I use it mostly just when Im exercising now a days.
But I love rings! But I'm really not too tech savvy an brain damaged (destroyed my sense of time an lobg term memory) an that has been making comparisons difficult. 😅

3 things to add for Ultrahuman:
    1. Workout tracking is available in beta now, however, the heart rate accuracy is way off.
    2. It also leaves gaps in HR and HRV data when it can’t get good readings.
    3. Apple Health import is not as robust - it doesn’t read heart rate data from other wearables and does not update movement index with just a workout import - need to be wearing the ring while working out. Also, it doesn’t write steps and sleep data to Apple Health yet, though its expected to do that after an update by end of September!
And as always, super detailed and entertaining video Shervin :)

Oura Ring gen2 owner since over 5 years now. Îd say that's pretty durable and luckily, as a early gen2 adopter, I got free cloud souscription for life (of that ring 😅).
After 5 years and two months, I have now to charge it everyday. But the battery life is still one and a half day.
All cost taken in account, IF a gen 3 last 5 years as well, the subscription would double the price of the ring. But if an UltraHuman lasts two years, well, the TCO at 5 years will be similar...

Thank you for your well thought out, unbiased review. The first problem I ran into with Ultrahuman is ring sizing. I got 3 different sizes with their sizing App. I don't like that UltraHuman and Oura require you pre-buy your ring in order to get a sizing kit sent to you. I ordered my sizing kit for Oura from Best Buy for $10 and got a $10 GC from them, which will go towards the ring (if I decide to buy it). Trying to get away from my Apple watch and wear traditional. Was hoping a smart-ring was the answer but it seems that all reviewers use the watch by day and ring by night. Wah-Wah-Waaaaaaaaaaaah...

So wait… none of them provide accurate data? Then why would I choose any of them? Why on earth do you have so many? What is the point if they don’t provide you with accurate data?

When I got my oura I wore the oura and my garmin (fenix5) in parallel for some time. The oura gave the same data as the garmin. The rings are most useful for trends tho. My oura has told me everytime I was about to get sick before I actually got noticable symptoms, 2x Covid, 1x Influenza. Which I find is pretty impressive. I got a smart ring because it's much nicer to wear during the night and very unintrusive.

I have had an oura ring for nearly two years now, pretty happy with it. It gets expensive with the subscription though.
With that constant and probably exponential income, they can come out with nice updates every now and then. The Gen 3 is packed with sensors, and I like that they try and make the most of them! Seriously, a 2 year old product that still is treated & feels like it was new is not something you see often nowadays…
I would love to see a portable charger for the Oura ring.
And would like to see my heart rate in real time when on workout mode, sometimes it fails to sense my heart beat and I only know afterwards.
I would recommend this ring, it’s still great imo!

The Ring concept will fail for practicality reasons. It's fancy item for few days and then it will be uncomfortable to wear while working out and most importantly you are more likely to lose a ring than a smart watch tied to wrist.

You don’t get it, wearing the ring alone won’t magically grant you magical powers and better sleep, it simply gathers data about your body and from there you’re free to do as you please, improving little habits here and there that in the long run results in less trips to the hospital and overall a healthier lifestyle
If you don’t see the point of a smart ring then you aren’t the target demographic. It’s for people that want a ‘smart’ health device but don’t want to wear a bulky smart watch or a chest strap.
