  • While I ended up doing work that wasn't needed, this video charted the process pretty well, so I decided it would be a shame not to post it. Any of the C-series, XP or 2100 series saws would be tested the same way.

Nice looking model and this one is on extremely well condition!

Murphy’s law will never give you a break Leon! I have the same problem man! Lol!

Awhile back you mentioned the cup used on these in the recoil. It fastens to the flywheel so the pawls turn it. This's food for thought. Those cups are unobtainable. Why not see if the brake lining off a Snapper rear engine rider would work? I've got 1 of those saws with a worn cup & I used to work on those Snappers when they were new. Always thought of that as a fix, just never tried it.

I have that same kit. Absolutely love it

Well now, my C-72 has a cup setup. Early model? Saw hasn't many hours & it was bought used. Worked on several HL's over the years but mine is the only one I've worked on.

Hi…I have my dad’s C-72 that is definitely older than I am…I am 57. I have had it for a number of years, and it is a beast! Until today….it would start right up and I would let it idle for 15 minutes with just a bit of choke on before using it. Definitely cold blooded…
I took it out today, and it just wouldn’t stay running. I tried backing off the low idle screw a bit to see if that helped. Seemed to…but just wouldn’t stay running. I took off the air filter, and there was some gas in the carburetor housing…just minimal. It appears it is seeping from the gasket between the carburetor and housing. I really would like to keep this saw fully functional(sentimental reasons), as I use it from time to time. But, I also don’t need to sink a bunch of money into it.
Any suggestions on where I might start besides replacing the gasket? The saw is in amazing condition…just like yours. Thanks…I appreciate any thoughts you might have.

16:43 Like a lot of things, if it gets used more often, it lasts longer. Just ask your wife. She might have a comment on that after hearing her reactions last week during a video lol.

Leon, doesn't sound like you're on your game, but I don't think it's anything a lake, a boat, and a case of beer wouldn't cure. Just don't let the fish bother ya. Call it social distancing.. K

Where do I get that flywheel puller be nice to use that instead of tapping around the flywheel fins lightly to break it free

  • @oologahgardentractorandcha3055

I had the same issue using rubber seals. I added a thin piece of plastic and it sealed better

That's a good idea! This worked once I cut a piece big enough to run the screws through...I tried to cheat and save material the first time around. We see what that got me!

I hate it when there is a congregation of debris in a saw.
