    Interesting idea -- but I don't see how the engineering justifies the price. Which is not mentioned at all, but I saw it was close to $16K? Wow ... Honestly, for that much, I'd rather get 3 or 4 custom guitars configured properly to match the style. Anybody with enough money for this single guitar and who's a professional probably has a roadie to carry their guitars around. And probably loves having many guitars. I sure do!

    • @GenghisDaniel
      @GenghisDaniel Před 4 lety +19

      Yeah, that is exactly what I thought, the idea is good, but it simply make no sense when you look at the price. For sure, if the mecanism is all hand made, in house, only for a few pieces it will cost a fortune to make, and I agree that the guys at Wild customs should be able to benefit from their innovation. But if it is pricier than two or three custom made guitar, It no longer make any sense, especially when you take into account that the sound of pick up is also linked to the way the guitar is built (bolt-on VS set neck, etc.).
      They should at least try to offer a model maybe with only two set of pickups or even only one set that you can upgrade at some point (but I guess the pricing is not really linked to the price of the different parts anyway...).
      The Relish guitars model, which have a similar swappable system are closer to 6000 (they even have a simpler model that is less than 2000). Okay the relishs do not have rotary pick-up, you have to change them one by one, but will you really change your pick up during a song ?

      Agreed. If I had a 16k guitar budget, I wouldn’t spend it on this. It’s really cool but I’d much rather just have several guitars. Almost just as easy to switch pickups (ya know, just plug in a different guitar) AND they would look much better hanging on the wall.

    • @molochsorcery4357
      @molochsorcery4357 Před 4 lety +8

      Agreed. With modeling effects as they are today, this sort of thing is really geared for those Tone Clones who insist on purity in their playing. Meh. My first thought was for a Nashville or other area studio musician... And (IMHO) if you can really "play" the instrument, and don't just use distortion to cover all the mistakes, etc... yes you can hear (and feel) the difference... I wouldn't say this guitar would be for metal... seems like for metal you just crank the amp to 11, add in some kind of cheesy BOSS distortion/fuzz/overdrive and break eardrums with a bunch of flashy finger tappy stuff and whammy bar horsie sounds... This guitar would be for all the rest of the world's guitar music... not for metal... plus it's not pointy or neon green... you gotta have that color (or similar) to look cool playing metal... LOL

      It would have to disconnect the unused pickups. To have two extra pickups in the circuit would significantly change the tone of the selected pickup. I'm interested in how they do this without pops or other noise. Given the quality appearance of the rest of the system I expect they found a durable way to do this.
